Temptation: Confessions Of A Marriage Counselor Movie Description:
An ambitious married woman's temptation by a handsome billionaire leads to betrayal, recklessness, and forever alters the course of her life.
Roger Jackson strives to support his family, a group that includes not only his Ivy League-educated wife Judith (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) but his ganja-smoking father Stanley and her Bible-thumping mother TT. Meanwhile, Judith doles out thoughtful advice to couples every day, yet remains completely powerless when it comes to addressing the issues surrounding her own troubled marriage. When an old college friend drops by her office, Judith faces her biggest personal challenge.

I don’t think she was right for cheating on him, but she did say some truth when he came to get her from the party. Bryce did Take Judith for granted. As mentioned, they’ve been together since they were little kids , they basically had their puppy love. Bryce is a good man, but I think the problem is That he didn’t pay much attention. With Harley she felt more free,and happy and had more excitement in her life going to discover that excitement came. with a price They lacked the communication they could’ve had to either fix the relationship or talk and come to a mutual break up

Both played their part in the destruction of their marriage. Brice was too comfortable, and that in itself isn’t a bad thing. Him forgetting her birthday two years in a row shows a lack of importance. Your wife’s/husband’s birthday is very important and should be celebrated. Spontaneity was important to Judith, yet she didn’t fully communicate that. Crazy enough I feel like if Judith had cussed him out, things would have changed. Now that isn’t really effective communication, but it would have gotten the point across strongly. Things were stale , and she wanted to feel needed, perhaps sexy. All of Brice’s faults weren’t enough to go out and cheat. Judith needed to be more blunt and transparent of her needs. Brice needed to be more open to change. In the heat of temptation, always take a step back. Is a moment a pleasure worth losing everything?

Vanessa Williams (the boss) is a living legend. She won and was crowned the first ever African-American Miss America in 84 if I'm not mistaken. Her crown and title was taken away though because she posed for Playboy but in 2016 they gave her an apology and her title back. Vanessa played Terri in Soul Food, A Diva's Christmas Carol, the Jackson 5 movie, Dance With Me, Johnson Family Vacation, Ugly Betty, and many other things. She also had a pretty good singing career plus Rick Fox was married too her.

The realization that his wife was with his employee's ex-husband was a shocker and his sincere compassion to his ex-wife after it is all said and done was a bit unexpected. Tyler Perry's original play "THE MARRIAGE COUNCELLOR" that this movie was expanded from is a must watch. It is a comedic/drama and just as powerful! Say what you may about Tyler Perry...but he promoted and launched many talented black artists through his stage plays long before his movies. 🙌🙌 PS: "THIS CHRISTMAS" and "THE PREACHER' WIFE" are must watches. Super Talented Actors Overload in both - Denzel, Edris, Whitney....it goes on....(Both Christmas flicks)

I think the main problem was less about the lack of communication or attentiveness, and more about their upbringing. Being so restricted in life led her to feel so confined. Also the teaching of “no sex before marriage” is known to lead many young people to marry way too early. She should’ve been free to explore while she was young and gain more life experience while she was a teenager so she still had family to guide her. Them marrying young and so quickly, you never know how things will play out and ultimately she realized they didnt have that spark or passion she was looking for or wanting. And that’s ok, they should’ve just spoken about it and parted ways. Both are incredibly naive when it comes to relationships though. Yes she is a therapist, but knowing something and experiencing it are too different things. It’s why a therapist can’t treat themselves, same with a doctor. She was easy to manipulate due to her lack of experience and being so restricted she desperately sought out what she’d never had. Freedom and independence. Of course she went about it so poorly but I think that’s the true lesson.

This movie is based on a book actually, Tyler Perry does a good job creating visual stories but he didn’t write this story, he also didn’t write For Colored Girls either. His movies are great though

He kinda messed up for colored girls. For colored girls was a play that my mom bought me when I was going through my angsty depression phase as a teenager and it helped me out a lot. His version was an African American horror story.
@Fluer-de-Lis
@Fluer-de-Lis 8 месяцев назад
@@MsNikky1996he likes full creative control of everything that’s why a lot of his stories fall flat. He throws in a little of gospel and it fills in the empty parts and scripting

@@Fluer-de-Lis that’s definitely a valid critique because they could definitely have more depth, especially his woman characters tend to fall really flat and tend to be majorly underdeveloped

I'm glad to see your reaction. They always make men fuck up in movies but I like they show how women can too. That 80/20 situation will piss you off but she seen what he was on I feel like she did this to herself. Like you said she had opportunity to talk to brice plenty of times And yes experiences good or bad can help one acel. It's like when they say of you get burned by the fire you won't touch it again and you can let someone else know it's how

I know you a youngin' but Vanessa Williams was not only the first black Ms. America, but she is a talented singer as well and had success in the 90s. She sang the theme song "Colors of the Wind" for Disney's Pocahontas. She was also in the movie Soul Food which is a really good film as well, you should watch. Fun Fact: another actress also named Vanessa Williams played her character's sister in Soul Food, the series. I hope you know who Brandy is! And the old lady that was working in the pharmacy famously played Sylvia, the mother of Fran Fine in the 90s sitcom 'The Nanny'.
