This movie, um, I like the direction Disney went with it but some points really annoy me. It's mostly with the four main characters, especially the Gollum wanna be. I'm sorry but they're just so annoying. I kinda do enjoy this movie but the way the four main characters were written just doesn't do it for me.

#PleaseReactTo : "THE MAGIC SWORD: QUEST FOR CAMELOT" Its a very underrated medieval adventure movie. With swords and dragons and songs~
@memyselfandi7782
@memyselfandi7782 2 года назад
The reason why this princess was disgusted with him taking the sword is because 1) she's a princess and her family probably has semblance to things relating to their life including victory. 2) it's disrespectful to tomb raid, especially to royal families who's histories may be engraved in these objects.

The Horned King is my favorite Disney villain. When you don't have the villain singing songs or tripping over themselves for comedy's sake, and are focused on a singular wicked goal, you'd be surprised at how terrifying they can be.

@patrioticjustice9040
@patrioticjustice9040 Год назад
@@OpticalSorcerer I do like Shan Yu, actually. The music is what helps define what sort of villain you are dealing with. Compare the Horned King and Shan Yu's themes with other Disney Villain songs and you note how those two grip your attention far more than the others do; be it when the Horned King enters the throne room or when Shan Yu leads his army down the mountain side. These two aren't villains that waste time cracking jokes or toying with their enemies, they lead armies into battle and straight up kill anyone who gets in their way.
@OpticalSorcerer
@OpticalSorcerer Год назад
@@patrioticjustice9040 I suppose it depends on how you execute it. You could have a soaring, powerful song or something eerie and haunting--or you could just have the henchmen sing. You don't have to be humorous to have a song. A big complaint I have about Mulan is that it doesn't have enough songs. It only has 4, so I hope Disney makes it into a Broadway musical someday.

"She's appalled. Him taking that sword was something bad......" Yeah, it's called grave robbing. In some places it's as a more serious crime than stealing from the living - which is why people like Indiana Jones or Lara Croft would be one step from a very nasty end if they were caught in some places.
@Thomas_H._Smith

@@Thomas_H._Smith Considering the context it does makes more sense that she was worried about a curse yeah. There is actually a scene in 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' where the Prime Minister of Pankot asks Indy about a near miss where he almost lost his hands. Clearly the PM was assuming that he might have been caught grave robbing - but Indy's response implies he was doing a little robbing of another sort, a womans virtue I think 🤣

Nah. It’s because she’s afraid it’s cursed. And in the books it is. It’s marred and the engraving on it is partly illegible. The protagonists think it says Dyrnwyn, only draw this sword of you are of noble birth. But it actually says noble worth. Taran initially tries to draw it early in the series and is almost killed. It’s only after he grows as a character that he becomes worthy to draw the sword.

Wow, two parts! This film is legendary in that it was in production for over a decade, had many talented artists work on it only to drop off (including Tim Burton before he jumped to live-action), then have it slashed to ribbons and rushed out the door bu clueless new executives just to be the biggest bomb in Disney Animated Canon history, nearly destroying the animation department until the modest successes of Great Mouse Detective and Oliver & Company allowed them to take a chance on Little Mermaid and the Disney Reneissance. But Cauldron itself was never spoken of in more that frightened sniggering whispers until an unassuming VHS release nearly 15 years later secured a small but dedicated cult following. As I said elsewhere, the film does suffer for what was removed. There's pieces that feel like SHOULD be there but aren't, so it could never be as great as the all-time greats. But I do legitimately adore what IS there, and I'm happy we have it even if I wish it could have lived up to its true potential and ambition.

#PleaseReactTo : "THE MAGIC SWORD: QUEST FOR CAMELOT" Its a very underrated medieval adventure movie. With swords and dragons and songs~

this is the only disney movie to give me nightmares. if i have dreams of being a knight in armor, and doing anything heroic, i get loud drumms playing, an army of the dead marching herded by the Horned king. so i end up fighting him, and its always scarry ans spooky, really is disneys darkest movie

A film suggestion check out Oliver 1968, good film, quite dark but still good

The Black Cauldron ties with Hunchback of Notre Dame in terms of being the darkest of their animated features canon. The film analysts at the time had difficulty figuring out who the target audience was for this 1985 movie. I believe it was Jeffrey Katzenberg who was brought in to help salvage Disney’s animation studio before it could even be destroyed by the financial failure of this flick.

PSA: Read the books. This movie doesn't do them justice whatsoever.

the horned king is probably one of my favorite villains, genuinely scary, but he doesn't get as much attention as other Disney bad guys I guess because the film wasn't as popular :(

He made it into the latest expansion of Disney Villainous alongside Gaston and Tremaine.

I think if this movie written the protagonist and Gurgi differently it would be a better movie. Maybe like Disney did the Gargoyles series.

I wasn't really a fan of this movie as a child. It doesn't have that "Disney Magic" vibe to me; it feels like it could've been made by a random animation studio. THAT SAID, as a Disney fan, I love seeing their underrated films get appreciation.

What was the name of this film with a villain who could mix weapons with people and there was a nice dragon with 2 heads and so on....😅
