I don’t eat out anymore, period. A few years back I was in line to place an order at Panda Express. As you know, you can watch the staff prepare the food dishes. While observing what’s going on, I noticed a girl who was preparing the food stand there picking her nose. So, I wonder, what goes on behind the scenes of other restaurants that we don’t see. After that, I refuse to eat out. Only home cooked food from that moment on.

I'm Italian and carnivore. The fundamental problem is that the pizza you're used to in America is very different from the real thing. From our point of view, it resembles fast food or a McDonald's sandwich more than our concept of pizza. This is to say that even if it's not healthy food, as it's full of wheat and dairy, it still remains "food" with its own history and quality. It's sad to see a food that comes from a tradition and high-quality ingredients being demonized and treated like the lowest form of junk food.
@AveMaria33777

I understand what you mean. I'm italian also, but even with it's wonderful cultural history, it's not worth it. even if it's natural, it's not worth it. The health of Italy is changing, it's becoming like North America, it's sad but it's reality. Heart disease which used to be rare, is not anymore. And one thing about italians, SORRY TO SAY, but they're carb addicted. So many of them are ridden with diabetes and obesity and they refuse to let go of the carbs. Many of them rather be amputated, I have had discussions with family members who just rather be sick and eat what they want, it's pasta/pizza and dolce or nothing. They're very stubborn. They tell me how important carbs are, and meanwhile they have diabetes. McDonalds is now thriving in Italy, which shows that people are less and less conscientious of what they put in their mouth even in the old boot. It's very sad.

Glyphosate is applied to wheat as a desiccant shortly before harvest to prevent mold. It was originally used in small amounts to keep weeds down initially or as needed. With the intent that the microbes in the soil would break it down. But it was found to be useful as a desiccant to keep mold from forming on the wheat berries. This is a common practice shortly before harvest. It isn’t allowing for the natural bacteria to break down the glyphosate in time. So we receive a much higher amount in the end product in what we eat. I’m not advocating glyphosate but this is the history of its use from the early 90’s. There’s a direct connection to glyphosate usage and the increase in gastrointestinal related illnesses.

Being Italian, cutting out bread was the hardest part of all my transition to animal based eating. I have found one way that I can indulge once a week with no issues; I grind 1 cup of hard red wheat berries to a flour in my coffee grinder on finest setting. Add 1tsp honey , 1/2 tsp salt 5oz warm water. Make a dough. Let it rise in a small bread pan. Cook for 1/2 hour at 400°F . Makes one small loaf, eat fresh out of the oven with Kerry gold salted butter. Looking at store bought bread label with 10+ ingredients I understand now why i used to have so many issues with bread.

I have a caveat to the grain argument. They are a good source of dietary fiber and carbohydrates if you eat it properly. Bloating may happen with nearly any food, what i believe to be more important is balance of omega 3 and omega 6 for maintaining inflammation control. I will not go into the long explanation why here, but it is well researched. Better grains and healthy grains at a healthy ratio is probably one of the best ways to eat.

The wheat plant wasn't genetically modified; it was the evolution of cross breeding of the different strains of the plant and growing them in a climate that best suits them. The wheat that is used to mill our flour is “hard red spring wheat” that is grown throughout the Midwest. Glyphosate levels were almost equal regardless bread brand, flour type, and origin. Glyphosate was detected in all the flour samples and in 80% of the bread samples.

Just warning everyone: Those "pizzas" at the end are not gonna taste like pizza. That doesn't mean they won't be good, or perhaps ok in their own way, but a lot of the specific flavor perfection in a typical American pizza is the cheese, sauce, and wheat bread combo regardless of toppings. This is particularly the case with pizza among other foods, because the cheeses are mostly just mozzarella, sauces are typically just a tomato puree with a bit of seasoning, and even toppings are pretty standard. I've experimented with various egg breads, almond flour, additions of this or that cheese into the crust, and they don't make one that tastes like a traditional pizza (personally, I haven't even found one that doesn't taste weird in a pizza set-up, but that's just me); I don't care what video you're watching, they'll taste DIFFERENT at the very least.

I make a pretty good one with parm reg on the bottom of the crust, and add psyllium husk to make the "dough" more like flour dough. I think it's really close. I use this same recipe below for making buns or for making pizza crusts. It does have gluten but I'm not allergic to that. But this is low carb and still tastes like good food: For 8 Buns Ingredients for the Keto Buns: 1 cup warm water (50-55C / 120-131F) (240ml/8.1oz) 1 Tablespoon INSTANT Yeast (8g/0.28oz) 1 teaspoon Honey (7g/0.25oz) 1/2 cup of Oat Fiber (41g/1.45oz) 1.25 cups of Vital Wheat Gluten (190g/4.9oz) 1 teaspoon Salt (6g / 0.21oz) 0-4 Tablespoons powdered Sweetener (0 - 60g/4oz) I use Stevia 1/4 teaspoon Xanthan Gum (2.5g/0.88oz) (if you lower the the Xanthan Gum to 1/8th or 1/16th, it actually makes the buns/crusts bigger if that's preferred) 2/3 cup of fresh ground Flaxseed (70g/4.9oz) 2 Eggs (lightly beaten) 2 Tablespoons softened Butter (30g/1.05oz) Macros per each Keto Bun (assuming 8 buns): Calories: 210 cal Fat: 10g Carbs: 3.9g Net Carbs (18g total carbs - 7.5g fibre - 6.6g sugar alcohols) Protein: 18g Mix the warm water, yest, sugar together ad put aside so that it activates. Mix dry stuff together in your stand mixer bowl. Then add all the wet stuff afterwards. 10 minutes in the stand mixer to incorporate. Separate 8 equal balls in bun tray and cover with saran wrap. Leave in a dark warm place. I just put it in my oven and also have a tray under it with boiled water to keep things humid. Everything should have risen after an hour so use some egg wash and add sesame seeds or 'Everything But the Bagel' or whatever sprinkles on the buns. Preheat your oven to 350f and then bake for 20 minutes. You're gold. For Pizza Crusts, this will make 2XL pizzas. Recipe is the same but just separate the dough into two big balls. Let it rise for an hour. Stretch onto a pizza plate and then top it up with whatever before baking. This is the most 'real' tasting/chewing buns/pizza recipe I've found that is low carbs and uses real ingredients that I don't feel any guilt over eating.

I would never even be tempted to eat pizza if I didn’t live next to New Haven CT. I’ve had pizza in other states and it is gross. Little Italy in New Haven is now officially the next pizza in the USA. Hand-made dough, local cheese, and crushed fresh tomatoes.

Awesome video. I'm Italian, and I can say that when I was a child, the pizzerias in Montreal were fantastic. They made very good pizzas, and they were made with love. Can't say that anymore. The last time I had 2 slices, I had a major setback in my health, and literally, it debilitated me. I feel that the GMO flour, preservatives, SUGAR, glyphosate and vegetable oil is to blame, ALL of that stuff is in pizza nowadays. It becomes a very toxic poison. When I was in Sardinia, if you eat where the locals go, you can have an entire large pizza to yourself and not get sick, and not even feel bloated. There is definitely a difference in quality, their ingredients are definitely cleaner. I even lost weight while I was in Italy, and ate a ton of their wheat, so for sure, something is obviously different with the quality. I would say night and day. But even if I lived in Italy, would I eat it every day? No. Grains should not be a main staple, it should be no more than a treat, or consumed if one is starving during a famine. Even the health of Italy is deteriorating, and it's obvious why.

Obv if you’re carnivore or generally animal based, pizza is a no go. But if you’re not cutting any food groups, it’s perfectly possible to make a high quality pizza filled with delicious and nutritious ingredients. The fast food places are making the pizza at the cheapest price possible, meaning it’s probably loaded with low quality crap
@Ampe96
@Ampe96 13 дней назад
Frozen pizza is not pizza. Pizza dough is made with only 4 ingredients, flour, olive oil, yeast, and salt (and water). In italy grains can not be spread with glyphosate so flour it's just flour and you have a lot of options of different "good" flours. Unfortunately even here in italy cheap restaurants, even famous ones in Napoli, started using seed oils in pizza. I don't know why people would eat frozen pizza while here there is a tradition of preparing pizza at home and basically everyone is able to bake pizza or bread. That said, I still think the best pizza is unhealthy and i always end up bloated and tired when i eat it, and i do not eat grains anymore. But if you want to eat one here it's not the same as eating one in the us, in fact a lot of people here eat it more than once a week without many problems.

The American food INDUSTRY is driven by the profit motive. I lived in California for 14 years. I loved the fruit and vegetables. But I had to come back to the UK for family reasons 35 years ago. The USA is not the same place I knew and loved. I am very happy to be back in the UK. One of the (many) reasons for that is that food in the UK is much more healthy, with many fewer artificial additives.

IMO only a small % of any restaurants prepare food in a healthy manner. Most of it is toxic, processed crap that's still overpriced. For stuff like this it's much more fun to source the ingredients yourself so you know they're clean, then learn to make it yourself and teach your friends and family.

All in all, it's not Pizza that is bad, it is the mass produced processed pizzas that are bad for you. those frozen Pizza will use the cheapest ingredients, to keep prices low, then add preservatives for shelf life, and other additives to give pop to flavors since nothing is fresh here the flavors need to be enhanced. Of course the "unhealthiest" part is going to be the dough, but if it is whole grain preferably freshly ground, then that would be the best option, it should be noted that Italian pizza is very thin, not like most American pizza that have very thick crusts. Oils is key, oil , fiber, and protein all contribute to preventing an insulin spike. good oils healthy oils like olive oil. proteins and fats from the cheese, and fiber in the whole wheat used. all contribute to a better meal. Sauce, anything with high fructose corn syrup should be thrown in the trash. only a little bit of cane sugar if any should be used in the sauce.

Being 64 5'10 173 and still pumping iron, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a treat sometimes. It's not going to kill you. But the stress of not allowing a threat sometimes can lead to a worse problem. That's why I allow my weekend peanut butter cups on Saturday and Sunday. I lost 35 pounds just from cutting out my nightly desserts and cereals and bread and a lot of pasta. And my weight stays about the same.

I make a pretty good pizza crust from parm reg, mozzarella, egg and *psyllium husk.* It's both chewy and crispy, and very low carb. The psyllium husk absorbs the grease from the cheese and adds texture. The parm reg goes on the bottom and enhances crispness. My sauce is organic tomato paste, spices and water. I use the lowest-carb mozzarella I can find. It's Usually 1 carb per quarter cup, which I believe is usually a starch, for anti-caking. I could get zero-carb mozzarella in blocks and grate it myself, but don't. The same goes for the provolone and cheddar with which I cut the topping mozzarella. If I had the room on my countertop, I'd probably use a food processor, which is also a pain the clean. Other than that, I try to make the pizza as "clean" as possible, and most of the carbs are in the toppings, like mushrooms, peppers and so forth. PS: Every manufactured crust I've seen either sucks, is high-carb, or has stuff I wouldn't put into my body. The same goes for most sauces. These people just can't help themselves.

You can do this in a frying pan. Maybe try one with a non-stick coating and medium heat. I do it in a Dash 8-inch griddle. It has a lid; you want to use one for the final cooking, or put it in the oven. 8-inch pizza Crust ingredients (toppings, including sauce and cheese, not included) - 1 egg - 42g mozzarella cheese - 1/2 tsp psyllium husk powder - 42g parmesan cheese - sprinkle parmesan cheese evenly onto heated grill - allow to cook down for 1 minute - blend cold mozzarella and psyllium husk powder - beat egg - mix mozzarella, psyllium husk, egg by hand - coat over top of cooked parmesan cheese with mixed product - cook for 2 more minutes - flip - cook for 2 more minutes - flip - spread sauce - add pizza cheese - cook for 2 more minutes - add toppings - cook 5 more minutes or as necessary to finish toppings - cool on rack for 3 to 5 minutes to allow crust to crisp before slicing and serving

Its uncanny that youre talking about pizza. I’ve been telling my sister that I can’t quite put my finger on it but I’ve noticed over the last several years that pizza has been making me feel kinda bad after I eat it. It tastes wonderful and it seems to agree with me initially but then hours later or even the next day I seem to have “hard to describe” side effects from it. I’m certain it’s the pizza because I have the same strange symptoms specifically after eating pizza.

The flax and oat pita bread I get only has 7 net carbs, and I use fresh shredded cheese and etc make them myself, they come out so good!
