The freaking disney world commercial unlocked a core memory! I'm trying to remember which vhs tape it was on.

Man, I remember most of these commercials from childhood. My favorite was absolutely the Smash Bros 64 one! I still remember that one vividly. It caught me off guard when I first saw it and I knew I had to get it. The idea of Nintendo characters fighting other Nintendo characters was _brilliant_ !! It is funny to see how big Smash Bros has become like more than twenty years later. Apparently, Smash Bros. was a side project Sakurai started on his own during his off-hours, but it was originally planned to feature generic fighters and not Nintendo characters. Also, I think Peebs is secretly Master Hand...

Dear lord, it’s coming back to me now. I was an easily scared kid, yet I saw that very Slim Jim commercial all the time and didn’t even bat an eye over how that Slim Jim man cut a whole through that kid’s stomach!! I was a BIZARRE kid.

The blockbuster one was the first that made me laugh. I remember blockbuster from constantly renting weird unknown animated kids' movies from there. The animated Nutty Professor... Goldilocks and the Three Bears, except she's doing a celebrity makeover of their house... probably some Barbie movies, too. They had weird stuff there. I don't remember renting games, though, just movies. But I was super tiny, so maybe we did and I just don't remember.

I vividly remember that Disney World commercial, it was at the start of a Disney VHS tape I watched all the time as a kid. The older brother saying "Goofy could beat up dad!" genuinely made me not want to go to Disneyland out of fear that my family would be jumped by Goofy 😅

Man I think I remember every one of those. That sudden ending nearly freaked me out a little though. Haha

I was actually one of the few people who saw the Smash Bros. 64 commercial sometime AFTER I bought it (needless to say I completely cracked up in disbelief at what I was seeing when I finally DID see it while watching TV at a hotel), I remember going into a store where my mom said I could pick one game that me and my brothers agreed on and we saw THAT just sitting there. Seeing Pikachu and Mario going at it while DK bashed Samus in the background was just something that really caught us completely off guard and it looked too intriguing to pass up despite the fact that we had played almost no fighting games at the time (let alone were good at any we did play). Who would have thought that years later "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" would become my favorite game of all time?!

When I was little, I used to have a clock that played the Meow Mix jingle on the hour. I even put a chair in front of it and would literally just sit there and wait for it to go off.

Ok, here's my thing. (Kudos to anyone who gets the Lara Means reference, which is also very 90s. If you know, you know). 1) I remember every single one of these commercials. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. 2) I never realized until now how much nightmare fuel some of these were. Especially the last one.

Dude that commercial where Crash goes up to Nintendo to talk trash will always be one of the things I'll remember from my childhood. Imagine they put out a commercial like that today, how many fanboys will be super pissed off? lol

I visited the channel again after a while and saw I was half way thru and so I clicked again and the first thing that happened was him shouting “I HAVE EATEN SLIM JIMS BEFORE!!!”

Funny fact. My copy of both Paper Mario TTYD and Mario Sunshine were both rentals from Blockbuster, the store closed without warning and I still have them today

I didn’t grow up in the 90s but I had toy story on vcr and that Disney world commercial was on it. I had completely forgotten about it.

I actually worked on that Punch Gushers commercial. I sculpted several of the heads (the blueberry and the banana.) There was also a coconut and a cactus for another commercial. Back when things were still partially done practically.
