7:08 Let me put this into perspective: Think of the scene at the beginning of Legally Blonde, when a student gives the right answer, the professor then challenges him on it, and so the student backs down, claiming he's not sure. The lesson is that you can't just be right and be done with it. You have to KNOW you're right and stick to it, no matter who's getting up in your face.

This was fun. Before coming here, I watched you and him do Hannah Montana. And wanted to tell you that one of the two girls that were the daughters of that creepy guy who followed Miley. Is the actress who plays Nancy from Stranger Things. I believe Hannah was her first thing she acted in.

If this movie turns out to be a retelling of MID's past education as a drummer, I wouldn't be surprised.

I don’t think Fletcher knew it was him. He found out because of his ability to strike fear into people. If it was the other way around and it was Connelly or Tanner that Fletcher ran into (Which I doubt, by the way that he knows what happened either of those two after he was fired.), he’d say the same thing to them, only for them to be all like, “What are you talking about dude?”.

I remember doing that one scene where J Jonah Jameson throws it at his head in drama class and my partner and I got a fantastic grade but it was so hard because we didn't want to be mean or hurt each other.

The crazy thing is the ending is simultaneously a victory and a tragedy, because he’s sealed his fate. He’s gonna be great, but he’s sacrificed everything to reach that peak.

I thought the actor for Andrew played in all the drumming scenes. He learned drums at a very young age without tutoring. If I got my facts right at least. I know he had to practice for a long time with some of the songs in this movie.

Jazz musicians are NOT the best players. ALL musicians are the best players. I’ve been with band since 1976, play brass and marching band is amazing! (But of course, I live in Texas, so marching band is just as much of a religion as football!) I’ve got to find away to send you THE BEST High School show in the Nation.

Unpopular opinion incoming: Fletcher did nothing wrong. We need more people like Terence Fletcher in the world. You caught on right quick: Fletcher's tactics are exactly like those of a drill instructor for the military. When you imagine him as a drill sergeant preparing new recruits for battle, everything about his approach makes complete sense. Just like in the military, perfection in the performance of one's art is a matter of life and death to those who have chosen to enroll under Fletcher's command. It's obviously not literal life and death in this case, so we accept drill sergeants breaking down recruits to build them back up into warriors. Most people would never dream of viewing jazz performance through that same lens, but for Andrew, who would rather die than be mediocre, such drill tactics are exactly what the doctor ordered. Fletcher doesn't want students; he wants warriors. This movie is to drumming as The Fountainhead is to architecture. It's not about drumming as such; it's philosophical and challenging. It's about what it takes to reach a pinnacle, what it takes to become a person worth a damn. Recommend checking out "In Defense of (Whiplash's) Fletcher: Responding to Nerdstaglic, Vile Eye, etc." by The Barking Years. Nerdstalgic and Vile Eye are pussies.
