In this tutorial, you'll learn how to mix water-based makeup into an opaque paste and apply evenly to skin without streaks or blotches.
Products:
Makeup: Ben Nye MagiCake Aqua Paint (Also try: Mehron Star Blend; Graftobian Cake Foundation; Max Factor Pan-Cake)
Sponge: natural sea sponge (available from most craft stores; look in the paint and stencil section)
Sealer: Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix (Also try: Ben Nye Final Seal; Mehron Barrier Spray)

I just want to say I've gone through easily 50 different videos and this is the first one I've found that gave this information to this level. I think a lot of people are overlooking this low level extremely useful info in their videos. Thanks so much.

omg yes - I always avoided this makeup for oil because it was never opaque enough and always smeared too easy - but seeing you grind and pat is what I needed.

Thank you! I know how to apply my paint now. I tried earlier and it was definitely runny. I had no clue i was supposed to make it into a paste like that. Now just gotta go buy sponge and sealer. Video still useful 5yrs later 💙

water activated paint in different colors can be mixed to make a new shade? like mixing some yellow+red to make orange? and how? thanks so much!

I know this is an old comment, but for reference, you can chop up the cakes into powders, mix them, add just enough water to make a paste and then put the paste back into the container! Let it dry all the way before using :)

that was really useful information! thanks for explaining it so directly and precisely. I had an issue with oil from the person's skin mixing with the magicake paint and creating uneven coloration. terrible! so i'm going to try a sealer based on this video. thanks.

How much of the ben nye paint do you have? is it the 22g package? how long does it usually last you?

This is the 1.25oz/35g container. I've had this one for several years, but I don't use it very often, so I'm not sure how many applications it will yield total. A little goes a long way, though; it's very pigmented.
