Find "Boba" or "Bubble" tea straws. They are wider and thicker than standard straws. This makes it easier to get larger items into them. They are a bit more difficult to crimp.

If you had something larger than would fit in a straw, can you do the same thing with a cut up length of bicycle tube and melt the ends?
