Zelda bosses like Muktorok where they're a powerful monster that's just being controlled by a silly little guy have a special place in my heart, and this music hits that idea right on the head.
Fyrus still the Best theme I think. But I loved the whole of Mukturok's design - and the theme is suitably weird and Unique - and I like that. Just not the 'jumpy' parts.
I love the boss variety. *A giant rock monster making hypnotizing food for people to eat freely.* *A giant ice dragon capable of summoning tornadoes and an entire blizzard.* *A queen of zombies that can fly and cover the land with sand.* *A stolen construct, able to fuse bombs, maces, and electric shockers to its hands.* Just a little silly dude that spits mud.
I love the dungeon variety (not including spirit temple) A sandstorm that can spawn hives of zombies anywhere A whole civilization's water source getting dirty A blizzard that prevents birds from getting food Cocaine rocks
ah yes memories of me screaming for sidon at the top of my lungs bc he kept running away from me for some reason and he was my first sage so i didnt have anybody else to help me
I have my other sages off for this fight so I was also yelling for sidon and once We started beating the boss I yelled "beat the child!" and my dad walked in.
Sidon’s ability takes so annoyingly long to recharge considering how much goop is in this battle. I had a Opal rod at first, but that broke before the final phase
@@PerfectKirby Im lucky i had like 150 chu chu jellies to get rid of the goop. I did, however, run out of arrows which made the second half of the boss a living hell. I even had to take a break because i didnt know how to handle the situation after that point.
i like how all the temple bosses have these “reverse voices” in their themes. i think it’s there because these voices signify a connection with ganondorf. i mean you hear it in the temple boss themes and when you’re going to gloom’s lair and i’m pretty sure ganondorf’s theme aswell
The reversed voices seem like both an Ganondorf and an Zonai motif to me! You hear it when you complete a shrine, so that's what I associate it with. Maybe it's more of an "ancient being beyond your comprehension" motif?
I always saw it as just the "gloom motif" as its only heard in songs relating to gloom, most prominently in the theme of the hands that show up at random
This boss was such a highlight, like not as a spectacle as the Wind boss but the most fun imo. It's also much harder than both the Wind and Fire bosses. Not harder than Lightning, although this one is more annoying than really hard tbh.
I’ve only done three of the game’s bosses so far, but I’m liking how the actual boss fights are less of a “you will probably struggle to keep your hearts” event and are instead more about the theatrics of it all (though I agree, hitting this sucker in the very last part of this fight is tedious). Especially since there are some challenging optional mini-bosses in the game.
i think this was probably the hardest one because it was tedious, queen gibdo you can just shoot and 2 cycle with any half decent weapon, marbled gohma was also pretty easy, colgera was great and didnt care about the damage of your weapons which i think is the way to go for all open world zelda bosses
i love it's not just the instrument choices and a few melodic passages that hint at Majora's main theme, but even the ticking clock rhythms go along with that callback AND emphasize the timed DPS window you have in this fight. They really thought about this.
It is similar to Majoras but lets not kid ourselves Majoras blasts this game in every single way. Totk while good, way better than botw, has nothing on games like Majoras Mask.
My brother had insanely high frame drops on this fight--during the moments where you had to track him down. Made the fight frustrating. I think the more you let the goop pile up, the worse it gets. I thought it was okay, but that's because I just spammed opal rod after seeing his struggles.
I didn’t have any Splash Fruit and didn’t think to use an Opal weapon, so the majority of the fight was me trying to shoot the little bugger to death from bullet time
@@Elden-Bear i dont think so! You just need to be creative with how you wanna deal with these bosses. We were given zonai capsules and autobuild for a reason!
I don't get my generation's internet humor. Most of this is from the kids who are a few years younger than me. (Mid to late 2010's?) I like it because of the sheer absurdity
Opal Rod and Splash fruits are your best friends. Love Sidon, but he wasnt as effective helping me in this fight as I had hoped. Also idk about anybody else, but I loved that they brought back the goofy boss you come across in other Zelda games. As frustrating as this fight can be, it was still fun and satisfying enough to win it. Theme fits perfect for the chaos going on too
One of the homing carts that pursues the enemy and put a Hydrant on it. It was super funny because I just had this little machine cleaning the boss arena for me while fighting, it was super funny
If I had a nickel for every time I've fought an octopus riding a shark in a recent Nintendo game, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
I wonder how Sidon fought this thing alone for the second time. Sure, it's a piddly octopus, but when in shark mode, this thing would prove fatal to Sidon. The sludge itself is super harmful for the Zora, Sidon is no exception. If his dad is affected by it, so is he. Sidon would have trouble clearing away the sludge as he has limited water control and there are very few sources of water in the depths of Hyrule. It would be like Sidon up against Thunderblight as he would be constantly exposed to his species' weakness. Sludge is one of them.
My guess is his secret stone must've leveled up his water abilities to the point where he could protect himself effectively. He didn't have it during the first fight after all
If the Mucktorok actively chases Sidon, he could use others' abilities to his advantage. Like using himself as bait and going in front of Yunobo's roll or beside Riju's thunderstrike. His chances would be even better if this was an actual coordinated effort
Sidon could've protected himself against the muck with his water bubbles, plus the secret stone enhances his powers. So, I don't think Sidon would've been dumb to not fight using the only thing that protects him against the muck.
Mucktorok is basically a giant balloon, and the squealing woodwinds sound like air escaping a balloon. Perfection. Nice callbacks to Wind Waker and Majora's Mask, too.
@@iznaroth Well you can make them all exciting spectacles and still have variety. Combat in Botw/TotK is already kind of boring so I want the bosses to stand out. A tiny octopus flapping around is not my idea of an epic boss fight
Mucktorok’s theme reminds me of chancellor cole and Majora’s mask due to the suona. While the boss is a little silly, it does fit the quick pace of the small guy!
Was reminded of Armogohma from tp with the contrast of this guys exterior and the goofy little thing inside, except there was no fakeout and we knew from the start he was just silly
The constant tick-tock in the background helps to accentuate the fact that you have a limited amount of time to hit Mucktorok when they’re vulnerable, and also to remind you that you’re not only fighting the shark, but also fighting Mucktorok. As some others have said already, it just makes sense that the music is dramatic at first because you’re fighting a huge sludge shark, but becomes ✨funky✨ because you’re fighting some little squid dude.
I really LOVED this boss!!! and his music was surprisingly good, it became one of my favorite soundtracks in the game. The part just after 3:30 is breathtaking
I am literally geeking over this right now and I'm glad I am, but I absolutely fel in love with this temple boss theme when I'm hearing it. It fits so well with the concept of the little mucktorok running away while link is beating the literal crap out of it. Top favorite boss in TOTK no doubt!😁
Me before the temple: *thinking the boss will be the shark of the trailer* Me ar the boss fight: wait wtf is this octopus? Where's the shark? *spawns the shark* Me: wait FU-
I hated fighting this little gooper blooper looking freak, but I can’t deny that the theme is pretty solid (colgera still knocks it out of the park in every single way) it was so worth it seeing it up shrivel up and die, I wanted to walk right in there and curb stomp it
It was a very fun fight but the little shit stained squid was trying to escape when it only had a hair of health left. I used the floaty gravity and paraglided mid jump to fire an arrow at it while it was in mid air
Am i the only one who feels like the vulnerable phased still feel intimidating? It's your chance to attack the creature that's been causing so much pain, so it's stressful to stop it and get it down before it can get back into its shark form whrre it's much more deadly.
I honestly love this boss its the only boss where you can use zonai devices and whatever the fuck you want to destroy him without fear of them constantly getting destroyed
chu jelly and splashfruit arrows are op in this fight, especially with the low gravity making the quicktime bow thing go extremely slowly, you can just get your shots in while its jumping out of the sludge then just use zora weapons to mop the floor with the fella
The only boss I wasn't able to two-cycle on repeat runs, and the rematches don't give weapon parts to boot. So the theme appropriately gives that frustratingly entertaining energy >:(
The theme of: STOP IT! COME BACK! UGHHH FINE! I'LL CLEAN THE SLUDGE. OH FOR GOODNESS SAKE, NOW THERE'S MORE! STOP RUNNING1 SOTPITSTOPITSTOPITSTOPIT!!!!
If I had to do it over again I would build a spinning fire hydrant satellite system in the middle of the battlefield, but as it was it was just a bow, arrow splash fruit and frustration.
This song has some very enjoyable aspects, although I rather prefer Colgera's, but this boss is honestly annoying, his size and the silliness of his design, movement, and name make him feel like a total joke even though his design in some ways and his death sequence is creepy, but then he's impossible to hurt without Sidon's gimmick, but it sometimes doesn't hit him at close range, and Sidon has weird AI, and his attacks kinda have off hitboxes and I think at least one of them is impossible without Sidon's ability
you actually don't have to rely on Sidon, if you fuse any weapon or arrow to an item related to water (like Chuchu Jelly), you can dispatch the mud on your own.
There's plenty of options to fight against this boss effectively, even without Sidon. You can throw the water fruit, neutral chu chu jelly, an opal (obviously for better range and force fusing them with arrows is preferable). Another method is creating a water staff, you don't even need a base staff, any base weapon with an elemental mineral already creates a magic rod for you. There's even ANOTHER option, you could've attached a Zonai Hydrant to a shield, or a weapon to dispense water in your surroundings and easily get rid of the muck. You can go even further when facing this boss again underground, by preparing accordingly and making contraptions that easily clean the muck, like an enemy seeking hydran, a water wheel, heck! You can even make the water wheel stay on the air (the water is going to fall anyways) with one of those floating green platforms, so that the boss can't easily knock it over. There's a lot of options that can facilitate and make this boss battle more efficient, you only lacked creativity, because you focused on Sidon's ability, which is unrealiable since it has a cooldown and the character is moving around and getting affected by the battle as well (companions can get knocked down by attacks for example).
I hated this boss mostly cuz i fought him using only Sidon as my source of much clearing i only had Riju and Tulin in tow so it didn't help much but his second phase was worse cuz using sidon for sludge clearing was hard and he would always get away but i did it im not proud of the fact i completely forgot about chuchu jelly, splash fruits and the hydrants :/
I also get some Majora and Zant vibes from some of the instrumentation and cadence in other areas. they did a LOT of motif molding for this song I feel
It's weird. Even though this game isn't really ever that good in terms of being a Zelda game, it has some of the best bosses in the series. And some of the best boss themes too
