My garage heater set up. Modine style water to air heat exchanger with insulated radiant pex lines running from the boiler in the house. Controlled by thermostat and thermostatic switch. 180 degree water. 15 degree temperature drop across heater.

I installed a Pontiac Fiero radiator (because I had one) in a kitchen cabinet, cut & attached floor vents in doors & put box fan (I had a old dayton, but it went bad) up to the back of it, dont look that bad...

FYI water has a very high specific heat rating. That means for every degree of water temp change, it takes alot of energy just to change it one degree. So if you are having the temp drop 15 degrees across the inlet and outlet then that's alot of energy being pulled out the the water. You probably are closer than you think to the 50k btu rating.

It all depends on how many GPM he's running through there. He'd need to be running right at 7GPM for it to be 50,000 BTUs, and I doubt he is. Half of that is probably a safe bet...

What was the eBay company that you purchased from. I can’t find any units under $400 and my garage is slightly smaller than yours.

I think they went out of business, or they raised their prices. I don't see them anymore.

Just use a car radiator and any fan,

@@6969smurfy i thought about doing that. Mounting a 57 Chevy front clip on the wall, bumper, hood headlights, and have the radiator as the heat exchanger

Where did you buy the thermostat switch ? And how exactly did you wire it to the heater?

Why dont you let the water just continuously circulate to the shop?

Thats how some do it, but you pay for electricity to run the pump, and it would put more wear on it. Also more heat loss through the ground.

@@yotamonster it works great. The btu ratings are overstated, so it runs more than it should and is a tad loud.

Your thermostat should be on the other side of the room

Ideally, yes. But it's under and behind the heater, so it's not influenced by the heat. It works quite well. When you open the door, though, heat usually kicks on, which is fine too.
