It was quite the inaugural year with the Water Wolf camera. Lost them three times, recovered two and had two of them fail, (which were replaced at no cost). All that said, the footage was worth the effort and price from the entertainment and education they provided.

That very first clip made my blood pressure rise. Something about that muskie just appearing out of nowhere was almost scary. Lmao. Such an intimidating animal. Like a freshwater pitbull

LB-Yup, they're definitely the apex predator in our waters and have no fear. Another reason why they're so prized!

Beautiful and spooky at the same time. Things are damn dinosaurs stalking the bait...just appear out of nowhere with the jaws from hell

They are hard to catch because most the day they are shut off, like a key on an engine! They are also also usually turned off in very shallow water, making it even tougher! To quote a university study , :Muskellunge were inactive over 70% of the time, displaying periodic increases in activity, and generally inhabited shallow (i.e.,

Appreciate the stats there, which are certainly accurate in my experience! Combine that with heavy fishing pressure and the bite only gets tougher!

Cool footage... thanks for sharing! I've had muskies completely ignore the lure that I was trolling, but seem to be very interested in the camera. I've even had a few just crush the camera. Several of my buddies have reported the same thing. I really think that their interest in the camera has something to do with the electrical field that it has.

2:35 - Fuck how did that fish not hit. You flaired the tail of the bait right in front of it.
@MasterCrowOutdoors
@MasterCrowOutdoors 2 года назад
These muskies are a pretty finicky fish! They expend a lot of energy following fish and everything has to be just right in order for them to strike. I guess that's why they call them the fish of 10,000 cast!
@WanukeX

@@MasterCrowOutdoors I know, spent plenty of time hunting for them. Your bait tail flair (speeding up for a few cranks) was perfect, just disappointing that didn’t get it to go.

Nice! Seems like they like the spinner to go fast then slow down then fast again.

DF-I think your right. Variations appears to be the key in getting them to strike!
@ericsfishingadventures4433
@ericsfishingadventures4433 5 лет назад
I'm not a scientist by any means.. But it seems like the electronic signal may be turning the fish off when they go to commit to the strike! It's to bad this camera is an AMAZING Idea!
@MasterCrowOutdoors

EA-It's possible, as fish are probably a lot more sensitive than we think. On the other hand keep watching as there are times when the muskies hit the camera more than the bait! Then again, the question is why? Regardless great entertainment! Hope you share and subscribe.

Not a lateral line thing, simply trying to get a reaction out of the prey.
@MasterCrowOutdoors
@MasterCrowOutdoors 4 года назад
I've never heard that before but seems very likely. Is that from a research study or a personal theory?
@AO-ip6yx
@AO-ip6yx 4 года назад
Master Crow Outdoors The lateral line is a sort of hearing/feeling adaptation that works because the fish lives in a non compressible fluid environment, it would not need to put something directly against it to get a better read on it, it wouldn't help in fact, a little space would technically improve what the fish was able to experience from the bait if our understanding of the lateral line is accurate. The reaction theory is mine just from personal experience with fish and other animals. If a Musky bumped a bait like that and it immediately and naturally made an attempt to dart away I'm fairly certain it would be attacked by the fish the majority of the time.

Master Crow Outdoors Thank you for making these awesome videos, they offer an incredible amount of insight in to something most only speculate about(poorly usually)! So much of what is believed about these fish comes from extremely outdated myths, wives tales, and just plain storytelling that it's important for people to see the reality. So thank you for providing the valuable service(even if you clearly enjoy it!)

Hello friend, hope you enjiyed the vid and subbed. I typically troll and the baits I run most of the time are 10" inch Jakes. Try the Silver Holoform, Glitter Perch, White Pearl and Black Perch. Tight lines!

none the less the water wolf is an awesome underwater camera, and teaches us volumes... about how fast, what color, how they react, how many, how deep...etc....i use a lot of black lures now (like i did when i was very young).... black, white, pink... are true performers ALL DAY LONG.
