Wow, this is such a great instructional tutorial, so well-explained, makes so much sense. For me, this is so much more helpful than just watching someone paint. Your work is beautiful, exactly what drew me into watercolour in the first place. I love the way you let the paint have it's own way, and then how you work your own ideas into that. Thank-you for being generous like this, with your art and your skill.
Some of the most vibrant colors with an unparalleled fluidity make your work burst with energy. It's as if a stick of dynamite went of in your garden. I absolutely love your style!
I love how you talk about your compositional process! That is SOOO helpful… Thankyou so much for making these videos! I absolutely love watching you paint 💗
Magnificent! So inspiring. Love the choice of colour and your intuitive approach to placement of flowers on the paper to create flow throughout the finished whole!
Beautiful! It inspires me to try being freer with interpretation. Sometimes I'd like to see a slower, or real time, video. I've watched some that last over an hour. I'll spend that time to watch and learn. Thank you for sharing your talent and expertise.
Thanks for your comment Nina.. I have not learned how to make longer videos for RU-vid.they give you only a 15 minute window.... still a novice with this stuff. I wish I could make them longer and not rush things..grrr! But for now this is all I can handle.. ☹️
Absolutely lovely (as always) and very inspiring. Thank-you for sharing your thought process as you work through your painting. You have no idea how helpful that is. Can't wait to give this technique a go. I struggle with finding the shapes and negative painting but I hope to improve with practice.
Hi Rae, I’m new to your channel and absolutely love your style of painting. Negative painting is my most favourite technique, creating lost and found shapes. I’m looking forward to viewing more of your tutorials. Many thanks and kind regards Marion
Now there's a daring way to start a painting. I'm going to try this one on my art class tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Thank you. You have a unique and very successful approach. Lovely work.
I thoroughly enjoy watching you paint! I love your quick starts and how you let the painting emerge! Love the energy and palette, the emotion you evoke! Ty!
How did I miss these!? What a lovely demonstration of how to go about adjusting and working areas of a watercolor painting. I purchased your book and am waiting for it to arrive anxiously, knowing it will be among my favorites, sight unseen. Thanks so much for what you’re doing to help us learn new things with these videos too. Your work is magnificent and I want to learn more from you. Blessings for a new year full of happiness and good things to you and those you love.
Thank you so much for your very wonderful comment I am so glad my videos are helping you and others. And I thank you for purchasing my book and pray that you get hours an hours of watercolor painting fun out of it with new approaches to each thing you do.🙏😊
Found you as someone mentioned your name in the group Your art tribe I also have mentioned you here. I have given used your name because my love of watercolour ,as you opened new doors love your process. I am trying so many new ways using this media. Sometimes mixed media. Louise Fletcher Nicolas, Lewis Noble. Love your work and process.
So beautiful and inspiring. I can sit and watch you paint all day!!! It's takes me a while to see the "potential" flowers when I try it. I hope with practice I will get better and better!
That’s a lovely comment, thank you.. it’s great how social media hooks people up, for the most part it seems to be a good thing. I know it has its drawbacks, but meeting people like you, is a good thing😊😊
Lana thank you so much for your comment and I think the part about not leaving enough white if the paper is quite common to begin with when we are learning Watercolor end it just takes a little bit of mindful practice to do it. Good luck on your journey😊
Thank you Rae. I and a friend had a go yesterday with the iris flower. We had a lot of fun and the result wasn't too bad although I used too dark a tone too early. I have discovered , however, that I'm fascinated by negative painting so I'll have another go. I find your paintings exciting!!
That’s great news Susan, I am so glad you had fun. And the fact that you are fascinated with negative painting is wonderful, as that’s key to my technique. Keep on trying and above all, always have fun!
Omg, I looked at your gallery of paintings and recognizes your style-- saw painting of palm leaves abstracted with loads of color. I saw it maybe 20 years ago in a feature magazine article (a watercolor magazine I believe?) I tried practicing your style way back then-- still trying to find me! Found a style that I luv again, and it’s you ! Thanks for .your continuing!
@@raeandrews1925 You're very welcome. I've been doing watercolour for 3 or so years now, I love it so much, I've watched many talented and generous artists sharing on youtube, and you are most certainly one of the best, in talent and in teaching ....you are so articulate it's amazing, and you share SO MUCH brilliant information , so elegantly and with such apparent ease it's amazing . I've been a teacher of various things over years and I deeply recognize your gift as a teacher as well as an artist. Wow.I I'll find and watch every one of your videos, and probably watch each one several times at least , to soak in all the wonderful knowledge you share. And of course your love of watercolour shines through . I'm very glad to have found you ! I'm located in SE Qld . Thanks again Rae .. Sherry
Thank you Sherry.. it’s so nice to get feedback such as this. I have just finished a watercolor book which is being published in the next few weeks.. I wondered if I might use some of this comment in my testimonials for it? Please let me know , I’d appreciate it ..😊
@@raeandrews1925 Hi Rae. Yes of course you can use any of my comments...I left a better ( ! ) and longer comment on another of your vids after I viewed this one and commented here. Please feel free to use any of them any time.
Love your Demo! It was very good I see your work on facebook and love how you paint flowers. This is Linda Emerson Hope to see you paint again! Thank you Rae!!!
kavita ..Thank you so much I’m glad you like this one. How is lovely New Zealand these days I hope this virus is not still raging in your country as it is ours in the USA😕
Rae so lovely to hear back from you. It’s not too bad now in New Zealand...we are not as bad as it appears to be in your country. Stay safe and keep sharing your Art. Love your style of Art 💕
HI Rae Vicki also from New Zealand your work is just beautiful, once you have dried your background is the rest painted just wetting area's as you do them.As you can probably tell I am just a beginner in watercolor. I would definitely do your on line lessons. Cheers Vicki
I will think about it definitely you might even consider joining my dancing brushes courses in the future.. But basically I have shown you a lot of techniques in this demo and others here on RU-vid and if you practice doing these techniques you will get better and better each time.
Thank you for your comment Arleen, and yes many artists have a hard time with negative painting. It takes practice but eventually the brain begins to click into the fact that it’s the space around the object being painted, not the actual object.. good luck and have fun..😊
