Today we're painting White Daisies!
Thanks for joining me this year in this watercolor journaling journey. I hope to paint in my journal most days of the year and invite you to join me. We don't need big resolutions, just gentle intentions to tend to our creative soul, a little bit everyday. And learn a little something along the way.

Very cute ! At first glance, I was so excited I thought it was a white daisy with the purple gnome behind it. I saw a noon instead of a flower.

I have never painted with any medium in my life before. I’ve been looking at watercolor videos for several months, and it looked like so much fun. I, probably stupidly, spent quite a bit of money on supplies and was waiting eagerly for a week for them to arrive. They finally came and I was able to paint for the first time last night. I’m so disappointed in my abilities! I knew there’d be a learning curve, but I honestly thought I would get something that pleased my eye right out of the gate. I am following along in a beginner book and just doing the exercises, but I felt so defeated because nothing looks like it does online. I have used only Canson XL paper because I’m practicing. Maybe the colors look more vibrant on better paper? They are Windsor Newton professional paints, but they look so flat.

I am sure you will hear from Shana but I want to chime in… I started to sort of paint 3-4 months ago and my initial efforts were awful… but you need to enjoy and trust the process. With time, the results will start coming in. I am amazed at the progress I have made so far. I love the idea of using a sketchbook because I used to hate the results and give up in the middle, at the ugly stage. Having a sketchbook motivates me to finish and I have a way to look back and see how I improve. You have great paints although I admit, I got QoR to follow Shana exactly. My only suggestion would be getting a sketchbook that she recommends. I think following her daily tutorials is a great way to learn. No, it will not look the same but even if she painted it again, it would look different.

Hi there. First, let me say I am so proud of you for trying something new and going all in! If you keep going, I promise your investment will feel worth it. If you have never painted before, you are right where you are supposed to be. Be kind to yourself and give yourself a little grace. Just like anything else out there, painting takes practice, and no one is any good in the beginning. Your greatest ability is to keep going, and many, many people stop right in the beginning. The people who are perceived as “talented” are just the folks who kept going, kept growing and learning. You can definitely be one of those people. I have two college degrees in art. At least 30 years of progressive art making in many mediums. And I started watercolor years after that. If you go look at some of my early sketchbooks you’ll see i was not all that great in the beginning. Check out Day 21 where I go through some of my old journals and used Canson XL.

@@shanacirce2667 Thank you, Shana. I have ordered better paper and a sketchbook you recommend. I am going to paint daily in it. 🤗

I’m super new at watercolor painting too so Id like to just say keep watching Shana’s videos. Something that helps me do a better painting is that I watch the entire video before I sit down to paint with the video. Be understanding to yourself. I was so disappointed in the beginning but now I’m so glad I didn’t let it get to me to bad. I absolutely enjoy every minute I spend painting and learning so many great techniques from Shana. So, keep watching, practicing and relax and enjoy your journey to being a better watercolor painter. 💟

Haha. Now that you’ve said it. I can’t unsee it. It definitely looks like a gnome in the small thumbnail photo. Have you don’t the gnome video yet? Day 80. 😁

Thank you for another great video ,The flowers look very good but I was very confused about the background, it made me feel a little like it was a mess ( no offense please ) specially the one on the right. What am I missing? I should say that I am,….. maybe an intermediate beginner . Any help will be appreciated . I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you ♥️
@shanacirce2667
@shanacirce2667 29 дней назад
No worries. This was definitely not a finished piece and is a bit messy and Catholic. With the background, I was just trying to demonstrate how you could apply different backgrounds with wet and wet. You absolutely don’t have to add them. And I certainly rushed through these a little bit just for sake of time in the video. What I hope folks get is a general understanding of technique and how it can be applied to other piece , so if you are inclined, you could do a little experimenting of your own.

I love white flowers but I've never tried to paint them. I think daisies are a perfect flower to start on. Thanks for this tutorial 😊❤
