Thank you sooo much! Finally someone that explains watercolor on procreate in an easy and simple way, I loved how you explained every single brush and strokes and how to achieve a beautiful and simple drawing.
Always love your approach to watercolor techniques using Procreate. I watch a lot of Procreate watercolor videos and when I compare your techniques to others, your way is not only as effective but produces the same type of result in half the time. I am also a big fan of your Aquarelle Brushes, so much so that your water blender & abstract round brush have a permanent home on the fly out menus you can setup in Procreate. As always, thanks for sharing your tips & creativity!
I learn something new in every one of your tutorials. Using selection to isolate a bit of the current layer - brilliant! Maybe you could do a California Poppy for us sometime? They have a very different look!
Thank you so much ☺️ I used a slightly more advanced version of this technique in the peony flower tutorial, I think you might like it too: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mVGls_H9FAg.html
Thank you ☺️ for the videos I usually practice it two or three times before because I want to make the video very consistent. However it's normal for each step to take a few tries to get it right.
hello Calvin! Thank you so much for your tutorials! I really like your work, your way of creating and it's been really helpful to learn and motivate me. Thank you!
Thank you. I leaned something now , how to fix something and paint behind. I’ve always struggled with watercolour. As a request, could you show how to change the background paper to make it rough?
Thank you so much! Do you mean large size prints? The process is really the same - I will just export my artwork as a PNG file, then I use photoshop to make a document that is the size and specifications of the paper I want to print. I place in my PNG and adjust the colors a bit. Professional printing services don't usually need adjustment but I recommend at least 'warming' the artwork so everything is little yellow. It's normal to have a print that comes back a little off, it's going to vary from printer to printer, so make sure you order a small test print so you can see what you might need to adjust.
Hi Calvin. Having trouble select background and not petal at 1:11 in video. Following steps, background is blue and petal is green. Not masked out. Thought perhaps petal not opaque enough and duplicated layer (even multiple times) and combined and same result. Can you tell me why the Select Automatic is not isolating the background without the petal ? Is there another way to mask it ? Thanks 🙂
Love it! Could you do a wildflower drape I’ve been wanting to learn to do one so badly like a top of a page dropping down different wildflowers. Please
This was so incredible! Thank you so much! Until I can buy this brushkit, is there another brush that could be suggested that will look like watercolor? Please and Thank you! 🙏
I love your videos and I bought your watercolorbrushkit. I have a mini Ipad and a generic pen so I believe that is why the rendering of the brushes is not the same as shown in your videos. At first I was a disappointed but then realized that this way I have to let go of my perfectionism in copying exactly what I see on the screen and be happy with what I created. Xmas is on the way and I will ask Santa Claus for the Apple pencil and then I will see if there is a difference.
awww thank you so much!!!! The Apple Pencil will make a DRAMATIC difference. By the time Christmas comes, make sure that you get the correct Apple Pencil model. Apple has made 3 pencil choices now and it's a little confusing. Make sure you do not get the new 'Apple Pencil USB-c' model. It's not good at all and it's just for taking notes, not for digital artists 🙏
Hello and thanks for your tutorials. I was thinking of getting your brushkit but I do not use an apple pencil instead I use an amazon pencil which is not pressure sensitive. Will this be compatible with your brushes?
I'm using an application for the iPad called 'Procreate'. It's a drawing Program that is special because of its simplicity and how well it works with the Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil is the white stylus I'm using - it's very sensitive and I can control the drawing with press and tilt. It feels like a really nice paint brush and it's very consistent 😁
I bought the brushes using the links you attached but it turned out differently, it doesn’t give that pumping texture like yours. Did you use something else beside it?
hi! Have you messaged me on Etsy? I'm sure we can get it working correctly. I'm very sorry about this problem. I only check my RU-vid comments once or twice a week so it's better to message me directly and you can also attach screenshots of what the brushes look like and this can help me diagnose what's going wrong 🙏
Color burn makes things look more thin or delicate because it has less of an effect on very light colors. The darker the color, the stronger the color burn effect is.
When you select the white area, you can slide the apple pencil on the screen to control the strength of the selection. If you play around with it you can see how to control it and reduce it. I think the problem is happening because the selection you are making is too strong and it's including the petal. You can tap and slide to control how it behaves. The automatic selection tool in procreate is definitely a little weird
Hi! Printing borderless requires a special giclee type printer. Most of the time for posters or magizines they actually print the artwork on a larger paper size, then they use a huge paper cutter to cut the edge off. For example, if you want to make a borderless 8x10 print, you would actually print it on 8.5 x11 paper. The artwork would be sort of floating in the middle of that large page and it would have the edges chopped off to make it 8x10 and borderless.
You can make a paper texture brush and play with the opacity. Sear: something like how to make a paper texture brush on procreate and you’ll find several videos.
@@missyl9013 Hola! I was drawing today in procreate and I remembered your comment and I forgot to tell you that you can import the paper to a new layer and do your drawing on separate layers underneath it. You can find video tutorials that explain better the “how” on doing it. Oki, byeeeeee. Cheers from Guatemala! 🇬🇹
Does anyone have the issue on procreate of their brushes not looking the same? I downloaded Calvin's brush kit yet mine look a lot more digitized and not as authentic watercolor as the one's in his video.
hi! there are a few common malfunctions that can happen in procreate. Can you send me a screenshot of what it looks like when you use the brushes? you can message me on etsy and i can usually spot the problem from a screenshot ☺️
