Hi friends!
Today I wanted to share with you the full version of yesterday's time lapse.
This is a tutorial for beginners in watercolor. I am showing how to draw / sketch a relatively simple subject, and then paint it using watercolor (relatively limited palette).
Here are the paints I'm using:
1. New Gamboge
2. Perylene Red
3. Sap Green
4. Prussian Blue
5. Sepia
6. Burnt Sienna
And here's the original image I used:
www.wetcanvas.com/RefLib/showp...
Let me know what you thought of this. I hope you enjoyed the video.
And I'll see you again tomorrow (:

That’s really beautiful Liron! Thank you for sharing 🤗 the bell peppers have a loose, yet crisp pleasurable look. Love them 👍👍👍

Ngl i got to have patience. I was getting super uncomfortable till you were adding layers to pop contrast. Edit - And again not boring if you think so, it was like watching a movie 😂😂, always got me edge on my seat

Liron, this is very much in the style of painting that I like. Just loose enough but not losing the detail. I do use a harder pencil as I don't want the graphite to dirty the color. New Gamboge, my go to yellow.

Yep. That is the hardest thing for me to do is to be patient, wait for it to dry, and keep layering. I'll keep working on it. Thank you!

NOT BORING, Liron. I really get a lot out of your commentary and details of your thought processes as you paint. Thanks Annie

Ran across this while looking for some techniques on painting peppers. I will be painting a bunch of Bhut Jolokia (ghost peppers) that I grow. Quite a bit smaller in size with very distinctive look an flavor. You share some excellent insights. It's a lot like our family Thanksgiving dinners my mother would lovingly prepare... so many different parts and if left separate, they don't amount to much...BUT when mom mixed all the ingredients together, correctly and carefully what a spectacular meal a lot like a great piece of artwork. Again thanks.

Wow thank you so much 😊🙏🏼 Best description I got so far for a video of mine! Ghost peppers have a different shape, but some of the principles are the same. Shiny surface, strong highlights etc (:

Hello Liron. I have come to watercolor later in life. My drawing skills leave much to be desired. I'm enjoying your videos very much. I like what you said about even a poor sketch can become a good painting as long as the values and hues are right. 👍

Thank you so much (: Sometimes it's even MORE fun to just paint over a simple drawing. It feels like you really paint and not just color (;

Greetings! I would like to hear more about composition ..Big subject but it can make or break a painting, right? I definitely picked up a few tips on the wetness / dryness of the brush in relation to conditions of the paint on the paper for "blending " (might be called "softening ") Thanks!

happy to watch this in realtime ;;-) I prefer framing my drawings also. + Go ahead and get deep- Artists are deep seeing and feeling people, particularly those who have not been educated since childhood or born to artistic parents. Life taught us to see the world differently, I wax philosophic...

Thanks for this. I learned a lot. I'm a begginer and I tried this and it looked great. Also what paper are you using?
@LironYan
@LironYan 6 лет назад
This one was actually done on a Moleskine sketchbook (watercolor) paper, which is quite flimsy. My favs are Arches and Saunders-Waterford, cold pressed. In my opinion you can go cheap on anything BUT the paper 😊 So make sure to get a decent one!

absolutely love your videos, learning a lot about painting techniques. i do have a bit of a question, when you blend the shadows with your brush, how do you not accidentally lift the color that's already there? i constantly do this and im not sure what it is im doing. my best guess is that im not waiting long enough for the paint to dry, but even if i do let it dry it still comes off.
@LironYan
@LironYan 7 лет назад
Thank you! (: That's an interesting question. I think there could be two possible explanations: (1) As you say - you may have not let it dry enough (which can sometimes take much longer than expected, especially when using lighter paper that doesn't really "absorb" the paint, but literally holds it on its surface. (2) You may meddle with the wash too much, which may reactivate the previous layer. This will improve with confidence - you get used to just placing the wash immediately and not try to fix stuff too much. In that case - I also suggest you check out Steve Mitchell's video on glazing (glazing means layering very carefully without reactivating the previous wash, and letting the paint's transparency show through). You can check it out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_58Eyyhv0gs.html I hope this helps (:

Hi just wondering what brand paints are these was wondering if you have done any painting videos using your sennelier watercolours that you have reviewed thanks
@LironYan
@LironYan 6 лет назад
This palette is a mix of my old Van Gogh paints and the newer Daniel Smith (: And I used both for this particular one. I do have one video reviewing the Sennelier palette I got (student grade) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l6usdNMjz1E.html And an episode of The Paint Show, reviewing their Artist Grade Raw Sienna tube - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OTkh7cp50EE.html

So, is this all wet on dry? Or are there sompe wet on wet parts?
@LironYan

All wet-on-dry, but I am making the most out of the paint by charging the already wet areas with darker values.
@adriaanvanpijkeren9770

maybe you can buy a harder pencil I, really like a hqrder pencil for watercolour
@LironYan
@LironYan 7 лет назад
Adriaan van Pijkeren I actually have a 6H that I like to use from time to time, but I definitely prefer the softer ones. If you use them properly, sometimes the lead is washed with the initial wash and doesn't leave too strong marks.
