#Watercolour painting on #Khadi paper, creating atmosphere!

Welcome back to my channel, in this video we will be looking at #watercolour on #Khadi paper and using a #Hake brush to apply first washes for the sky area. Think its good to know the surface of paper you are using and with this rag paper it really can take plenty of water and I've also noticed the paper holds onto the water for longer, so if you do want a dreamy like background or distance in your painting then this paper I'd definately worth looking into.
I start with a mix of yellow ochre for the sky and then moving inwards from the sides bringing in the darker clouds and tones, with a spritz with water allowing the pigment to mix and move down the paper. My paper at anangel of about 40° so that helps too.
Later in the painting process I switch brushes to a mop brush and liner or rigger brush. I also employ my tombow brushpen for some more definate and dark lines and marks for trees and branches etc.
Please let me know what you think, have you ever used the Khadi paper? Do you prefer the texture? Also if you enjoyed this video then please do give me a like, it really does help my channel to grow and reach more people. Happy painting everyone 👍

I have not got a rigger brush and this has inspired me to buy one, ditto the khadi paper as it seems to produce a lovely soft effect. Enjoyed your video, love the painting.

Iv got a lot of Khadi bc it was so inexpensive. Ive used it in eco printing. It holds up well while wet en though it seems like it would crumple and I get good results. Now I’m excited to use it for other projects in book making. I think it might make a wonderful watercolor print using Japanese inks. ❤

Yes the Khadi papers are quite different and get completely different results to regular paper I think, for me it's like a pastel painting. It is interesting. Should be good with printing too, let me know how you get on my friend! Have a wonderful weekend 😀

Fab atmospheric painting. I love it. I have just bought my first Hake brush and I like it for skies. But it sheds bristles like no tomorrow. So annoying. Is that normal with all Hake brushes?

Great stuff hope you enjoy, and yes I think that's quite normal, possibly worse when it's new but it might get better. You can actually gently remove any loose hairs before use
