This brings back memories. Back in the 1980s I was at that beach, near Port Everglades, and a waterspout came down while we were swimming in the ocean. I remember trying to run through the water and finally hitting the beach and not stopping for like half a mile. And I was no runner! Scared me to death, but when I finally turned around and looked back it was a pretty cool sight.
The funny thing is everyone was running away staying in the path when they could have just walked south 100 yards, turned around and watched it blow by.
Laughing at this from Oklahoma. I don't think that would even register as an F-0. We get straight line winds worse than that here. That being said it was pretty cool to watch.
As all meteorologists know, most fair weather spouts are fairly weak and won't wreak much havoc ashore. Of course there are the tornadic waterspouts that can inflict significant damage (see famous N. Myrtle Beach event).
SHe's mad about the rockets Shut down space exploration She put us on this planet She can take us out Ever heard of the end of the world On the way to stop it is to stop space
You are meteorologist? What you saw was perfection pure helium must have sounded cool Like a whistle Look at all the animals one big Family Human race male and female Just barely Space intelligence is perfection Like baseball ⚾ Learn how to hit the ball practice Put some effort in Hit a home run Act foolish Strike one strike two strike three Your out
Well you cannot have a El Reno event happen or there would be no opportunity to see a person get knocked over by the spout or another person riding their bike through the spout.
It's the same thing as dust devils we have here in Arizona. the water makes it easier to spot. Dust devils will throw trampolines into the electric wires, rip off awnings and roofs, and tear up sheds. We've had sheds 3 houses down the street. They come out of nowhere and only take a few seconds to destroy stuff...
@@jcarter1313 when i was a kid I used to watch them rip through the mojave desert often. I have ran towards and into the middle of the dust devils the size of city blocks. Bring tissues, your will be fine every time.
Boy..first the hype and then the results....😂😂😂 it was a tornado for about 30 feet! YET the media made it sound like it was an EF-5! The media in this country is laughable!
@@allenvestal4474 no, it isnt! There's plenty of film footage of waterspout landings. This was extremely over-hyped! Nothing to it. I've seen 3 waterspouts in my 60 plus years. They are very common.
@@allenvestal4474 Nope! It’s been caught on film several times. There was one filmed when I was living on the Mississippi coast when I lived there. It happened in Gulfport. But I’ve seen others as well.
This was NOT a tornado. Fair weather water spouts are not tornadoes when they come ashore. There was no storm or supercell with cyclonic rotation/activity. Very surprised supposed meteorologists made such a huge mistake. But, most tv weather forecasters are not meteorologists and are instead tv personalities that give a forecast the real meteorologists provide to them.
Technically, fair weather waterspouts that reach land are a “tornado”, but most meteorologists wouldn’t refer to it as such, unless they wanted to create drama. It’s more like a landspout.
In true Hollywood fashion, they create drama where there is none. I live in tornado alley. This little "tornado" is a summer breeze where I'm from. No danger peeps.
Let's be very clear this was NOT a tornado. Tornado : a mobile, destructive vortex of violently rotating winds having the appearance of a funnel-shaped cloud and advancing beneath a large storm system. This was a waterspout that turned into wind shear, nothing more. If it would have even been an F-1 no one standing on that beach would have been left standing there when it left.
I live in Florida. It's still a waterspout. 😂 They made it so dramatic. I've seen this happen before. It is usually rare, but not rare enough for people to make it this dramatic. 🤣 You can even see the biker still roll through it because they knew.
Once in awhile, waterspouts come ashore from Lake Michigan in MI. In the 1980's, I remember one came ashore near Stevensville at Glenlord Beach, and scattered lawn furniture and tore down a few awnings, but there were no injuries reported.
Dude I'm not lieing when I say this I had a strange dream like a month ago. I was on a Beach then all of a sudden people started running then a tornado formed very quickly people were getting thrown around something told me to lay down flat on the sand and cover my head I did as the tornado went right over me then I woke up.
And this is why you don't run directly in the opposite direction from a tornado. It's much faster than you and you have a much better chance of not getting hurt or injured if you run to the right or left of the tornado in that situation. It's not chasing you, just move in a different direction that IS NOT THE DIRECTION IT IS MOVING.
A dust devil about that size ambushed me in NM.The ride along in the calm eye lasted for about a minute or so while debris including a tennis shoe and a bra swirled about me.
@@Sssssssslf Yea especially if they come through a park or baseball game and stir up the dirt. ! This one would be considered on the bigger side. The ground rotation lets you know how strong they are. See them all the time while driving on hot days in the summer. Sometimes, you'll drive right though them.
It is a spout tornado; strength is not derived from the storm. Mostly from beach goers and maybe even from that helicopter. Some can actually develop EF1 windspeed so it would be classed as a tornado.
Really beautiful footage. However "becomes a tornado" when it goes at land is complete nonsense in my opinion. It does not become more or less of a tornado than it already was. It is a spout and it stays a spout. There is no supercell.
I live in Florida. It's still a waterspout. 😂 They made it so dramatic. I've seen this happen before. It is usually rare, but not rare enough for people to make it this dramatic. 🤣 You can even see the biker still roll through it because they knew. It must be northerners and tourists that did the interviews.
I love Hollywood Beach. Went and stayed at a little ɓungalow with my bf. We had fun. Be careful though. The owner of the bungalow tried charging my bf's credit card months later for random amounts. They did it on our third day there as well. Had to waste a lot of time fighting with them to give him his money back. We should have called the cops, but we didn't. Straight up scammers. They gave all kinds of excuses why they charged his credit card months later for hundreds of dollars. Like, we haven't been there in months. You know what you did. They tried to drag it out. Kept telling us to wait for the refund. I think she wanted to drag it out for 30 days but we called multiple times a day until it was resolved. We would have gone back to that place, but they are crooks.
Like the Bible says, the water is going to sweep everyone from the beaches... so I don't know why people are so suprised, they need to be closer to god.
@@Littlething41 Thanks. This is more common on the east coast, so I assumed it may've been in Florida. But the fact people are a little dumb about it...maybe they were tourists, not locals. Like when that tornado hit California over a week ago, & they're not used to them, so they're all duuuh, out near it videotaping it, & I'm losing my mind screaming at them to gtfo of there.
I love how people just stood there. LOL! Umbrella post gonna go right thru their chest thinking, "...it's just wind...what's the big problem. OHHHHHH umbrella post just stabbed me. Call my mom."
It's amazing to me how many people don't take things like this seriously. A guy riding his bike....Man if I saw that coming, I would get the f**k out of there fast!
Yes I couldn't be better thanks for asking if we don't stop throwing up rockets at the Master of Space 🌌 Intelligence Thought 🤔💭 Space is Santa he knows if you've been naughty or nice is in your thoughts except you don't know it Santa, Christmas, Christ,Family. Easily an EF-4-MAYBE a 5! Thank GOODNESS for the heroic actions of the news team! People could have REALLY been stung by swirling sand-or even got some in their eyes 😮 ALL THE HUMANITY! 😖🫣
Seriously, why would you run away from this thing? Run left or right, not away, and stay directly in its path. Anyway, I hope no one was hurt. A good story to tell your coworkers or family, lol. (I survived a tornado and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt)
@@ozone8897 I don’t know where you got this definition from, but many sources for many years have made it very clear the differences between spouts and Tornadoes
Well, here in the state of Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, we do get a lot of tornadoes, but it’s weird to see California, and hopefully California will never happen again
