If only there were more such a good movies as Waterworld. It has fantastic humour, built in the action scenes like Chuck’s (the gunner on the ship) awkward friendly fire on the jet skier and on the flagship (not seen in this video) not to mention the awesome dialogues. Oh…I miss these kind of films so much. Waterworld is one of a real hidden gems.

Lowkey this movie wasn’t that bad. No CGI at all, realistic special effects. It’s unfortunate that this movie flopped. But this will always be universals most famous movie flop lol. And the live action show is still going at universal too. That’s gotta be their oldest longest running attraction at universal too

The mid 90s; the last time they tried to create actual big budget movie sets instead of the CG Avatar worlds we see today. Too bad Waterworld lost a lot of money though. This scene was always fascinating because it was one of the few times the film felt soberingly dystopian (instead of the "Mad Max on the ocean" vibe we constantly get throughout most of the movie).

Do you not understand that a movie can only be shown in the aspect ratio it was shot in? Unless you ask them to chop up or stretch the picture, which damages the image and destroys the director's intent.

When this movie came out, I remember taking drives with my Dad on back country roads. On our trips, we would always pass this old abandoned steel mill with rusted structures and whenever I would look out at it, I couldn't help but think about this sequence. What an amazing achievement in art direction.

that quick shot at 7:29 is so well composed. For just a few seconds... The thrown spear, the way the water is lit, the corpse on the rafters... just WOW. And I missed it the first time I watched it haha.

What touches me especially is that ethos of a things - oriented loner, who gets to know women and a girl, and turns into a guy whos willing to sacrifice himself for them... this shit gets me so emotional. It could do it but not at that speed. From what I understand, it was a helicopter that was pulling the water skiers on a heavily weighted line. While the plane flew low so it hid the weight behind it. Giving the illusion that it was the plane towing the water skiers. All practical but not quite as it appeared. Old school trickery for this one.

I swear, go to a movie clip of any bad movie released the past 40 years and you WILL see a ton of comments claiming that movie is the best movie ever made. Like seriously, pick any movie on imdb with a 5-6.5/10 with a specific scene from that movie on youtube, and you'll see.

These comments imply the movie was good. Maybe it was but as someone who hasn't seen it, I can tell you why I didn't buy a ticket: It looks like it has an far-fetched premise and that it's just silly in so many ways.
