Mike Jarrett As a student from The Beacon School in NYC, I encourage you to truly learn about this movement from my peers who created it: Hebh Jamal, Yacine Fall, and more. I find it highly disappointing that older generations seem to ignore that their kids and grandkids and further on will have to live with the consequences of their votes- and furthermore ignore that young people do have ideas that can benefit society. We are the future, just as you were when you grew up. We have a vision for what America looks like, and it includes a level of equality that we have not reached yet. Many Americans look back to the Golden Age of America as the only time in U.S. history that people were good to one another; they're mistakenly envisioning an America that never was. The America they want can be achieved, but there will be a lot more walkouts and protests in order to get us there because immigration bans that discriminate against a religion is not American. And it is not what we want our country to stand for.
Alex Mckenna OH right and you dont moan about the old folks who have nothing left to give but fought for your freedoms to be ungrateful little shits, IF THE REAL NAZI'S WEREN'T DESTROYED BY THOSE VOTERS, WE WOULDN'T EVEN BE HAVING THIS CONVERSATION, how arrogant of you, these voters of a certain age maybe WERE thinking about you, there children, their grand-children and great grandchildren, maybe they did think about you when they put their cross in the ballot box, cos they want better for you, did you think about that when hashtagging the latest thing, maybe they want you to still have american values before islamism sweeps some cities, you might know your books and your teachers own ideologies but you also might need some real world experience before you put down the people that actually keep your country going.
Raluca Bastarache As a student at The Beacon School in NYC who participated in the walkout, what "is going on" in schools is more of an open discussion regarding what is going on in our government, how that moves through the three branches of gov't, and ultimately how it affects average Americans. By carrying the consequences of missing class, failing that test, etc, we are demonstrating that it is worth more to us to be involved in what our gov't is doing and how it affects what America stands for; what the America we as young people see our country standing for because it is us who will be running the country in no time. If you would like to learn more about what the LEADERS of the walkout (whom are fellow classmates of mine) were organising and fighting against, I welcome you with open arms. However, there will always be those who do join walkouts to skip class; it is up to people like you, and like Fox News to dig deeper and not try to dismiss a movement by cherry-picking certain statements.
I absolutely agree with you on standing up for something you believe in. I wasn't dismissing your movement. I am verry suprized by some of the people who were there that had absolutely no idea why they were there to begin with. If you're protesting and skipping school for it at least be informed and involved with those issues you stand up for! These kids were clueless! Also, I don't think it's OK to miss your class or fail your test because of it. That's a poor excuse! If you're striving to be the future leaders of America you know better than that! Show what you stand for by being a great student who values knowledge more! Then let that reflect in what you do with it, in your future professional life!
I don't think anyone on the right or left condemns people's right to protest and have a respectful, informed discussion over the issues (though if I was a teacher in one of those schools I'd hold a midterm worth 20% of the grade that day to see who is REALLY serious). If your motivation is to be involved, then I applaud that and would go against anyone trying to simply dismiss you. That said, the students on camera seemed clueless as to why they were really there, and spouting canned talking points that their teachers gave them, one even said that his teachers ENCOURAGED this walkout. I'm afraid the vast majority of students and teachers involved are not interested in candid and informed discussion, that they are doing everything they claim to be fighting against - intolerance and divisiveness. High schools and colleges have always leaned liberal but over the past year it's gotten way out of hand, where people feel that if you hold a different opinion, you deserve to be shut down and ridiculed. I'm open to learn what the leaders of that march were about, but you can understand my skepticism when you hear nothing but vitrol from the left and from the academic community - people who believe that those with conservative beliefs are nazis and need to be shut down.
oogity-boogity woogity my science teacher gave us an assignment, and one of the steps we had to do was find 5 incorrect statements Donald Trump made about science. I cringed so hard when I saw that.
maya henry is not a dumb ass, he is spot on, if one of those kids would have had an accident the teachers would be responsible, they cannot just leave when they want otherwise they would be doing it every day, during school hours the teachers are the legal guardians of the kids.If one of my kids were allowed (it's 30 years ago)to wander around the streets during school hours, while I was at work,I would tear the headmaster a new ass
naw, the teachers and schools will just give them more puppy rooms, coloring books, Ocean music relax time, a crying room, and I good pat on the back for doing something they are to coward to do themselves then keep on teaching them liberal brainwashing.
Barkingspider056 yes sweet heart I did grad from school like most sweet little kids that do right. Thank you :) I said they should get f's for the day BECAUSE they're kids. They don't know what they're marching for. They just found an excuse to skip school and hopped on that opportunity. That's it. Kids don't know what we know about politics. Matter in fact most millennials don't even have correct facts to back up their claims therefore they're uneducated like most. Also, yes they need their butts whooped more often but these days, it's unlawful to lay hands on your child. And alot of parents these days don't enforce rules and just let them get away with whatever just so they don't have to bother with their kids to come up with a punishment. So yeah, I am so sorry my little comment triggered you because I didn't make up some outrageous thing these teachers and parents should've done for kids skipping school. A few of the kids were interviewed on fox news and they didn't have a slight clue what they were actually out there for nor could they explain themselves. So yes, excuse me for just saying they should all get f's for the day, because I do know from my years in school that if u get a failing grade for the day from no excuse for missing school, it does effect your grade. And maybe next time they'll know better or heck maybe the teachers and parents will make sure they go to school the next time something like this goes down. Rant over.
Heather Miller On the contrary, this movement was beautiful. I hope to join more like it. My classmates who organised this did an amazing job; I am disappointed that Fox News didn't have time to capture the powerful speeches made by students from my school while they were cherrypicking students to create a false portrayal of the protest. If you'd like to learn the truth, I encourage you to reach out so I can direct you to my peers.
Alex Mckenna cherry picking? your all embarrassed and you know it. not only did you sound like idiots you look like one to. thanks for EMBARRASSING the USA. STAY IN SCHOOL FOOL. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Alex McKenna.... Take me to your leader, Alex. Your peers aren't really informed. Just ask all those 'directing' you, why, it's worth protesting against banning but not protesting against bombing these countries? It's Washington that needs fixing. Don't be distracted by these loonies. Think for yourself, Alex! Anyone teaching you to think otherwise deserves to be ignored.
Why don't they try living in one of these great countries on the list? Because when the girls walk out the door without a man there's consequences! They have zero idea what is going on. I also blame the teachers who said they were proud of them😐
The fault doesn't fall to the children but the schools, teachers, and parents that allow this. Those teachers are to coward to do it themselves so they send those kids out in harms way knowing those kids will do anything to get out of class so they brainwash them with there views and do there dirty work for them so there jobs are safe.
Jayson SG I participated in the walkout- the organisers are actually fellow classmates of mine. Our school encourages students to form their own political, social, and moral identities through open discussions. Furthermore, we learn civics that many American schools have wrongly cut out. We are learning how the government actually works and what we can do to help it be the America that we would be proud of. I am highly disappointed in Americans who are older than I am who take Fox News as gospel; it is clear he cherry picked students who did walk to skip school. There is no way to stop that. However, if you want to know the REAL reason for the walkout, and the ones to come, i encourage you to reach out to me so i can direct you in the way of my peers who organised this beautiful movement.
@Alex McKenna - I have my doubt you are who you say you are, but ill take you for you're word. But lets talk about this how you're school encouraged the kids to walk out by doing nothing to stop it. lets talk about this civics they talk about. I like to know what they are saying to you on government and world events. Lets find out what they are not telling you. Lets talk about those kids you protest with that was clueless on the world but only knew the propaganda talking points with no facts , clues, or event that happened. There is no way to stop it? you are so wrong about that. yes please tell me who the peers was that organized that. You act like you know the world but you don't. lets talk about how people in Iran chant Death to America, burn American flags, Teach there 10 year old to shoot someone in the head and then saw the head off of a real living person. If you walked 10 steps from the only safe area in places like Iran you would be picked up and killed on camera for the world to see and they wouldn't care you was a kid cause they have done it already. Lets us talk about these facts. If you don't think it is real then look it up for yourselves. Lets talk about how they throw Christians off of roofs, Stone women to death and cut there heads off. Again , think I am lying? look it up and watch it for you're self. Do you understand this? "Every human being relies on and is bounded by his knowledge and experience to live. This is what we call “reality”. However, knowledge and experience are ambiguous, thus reality can become illusion. Is it not impossible to think that, all human beings are living in their assumptions" or this? “An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.” or this? "The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Or this? " It is not what they are telling you that you should be worried about, but what they are not telling you " Question.. Is 1 life worth not having temporary Ban on countries with people that wants to kill Americans ? Letting boys in girls locker rooms and bathrooms ok with you?. that is the party you defend You have yet a lot to learn..
@Alex McKenna - Lets talk some more.....Did you know in places in the EU at some high schools little teenager girls get beat up by slightly older boys that came with the refugees? Funny thing is people like to film stuff with there phones these days so my guess you could still find it.---------Do You know about the Missile testing in Iran that can be used as nukes recently? --------Did you know that Obama gave Iran Billions before he left office? The same people who chants " Death to America today "
This is painful. How will teachers lie to kids and then send them out to go protest the lie? I can't believe this is what America has become. The school authorities need to do better. If something this phony is organized via facebook and your pupils are falling for it then you are failing at your job.
I find it funny how the 1 time I cut class 3 years ago in 11th grade just to study for an exam for another class I got ISS but it's okay for students to cut class to protest against our President. That's NYC for you.
These kids don't know what "Nazis" are? I doubt if they even studied it in school. The principals and teachers that condoned this action should be suspended.
Dumbing down of America! Took History as we know it; out of the classroom! Also turning our boys into girls; the pussificatiin of America! Destroying our country from within; Mc Carthy was right all along; America has been infiltrated by commies! ✝️🙏🇺🇲
I love how the girl's face reflexively frowns when Watters mentions defeating the Nazis. Whoops. Maybe learn American history first, then see if you feel like criticizing. There are millions of Jewish people as well as most of Europe who are or should be thankful that we joined the war. Nobody ever said we are perfect. If you find perfection I suggest you move there.
I love Watters so much. He was the one that made me realise that was Fox was not the Propaganda machine I was led to believe for basically all my life. Just a bit of conservative common sense. Being progressive in todays world means being regressive sadly.
Maybe the "teachers" should have kept these kids in school, and taught them what is really happening with this new policy. Instead, it seems that they encouraged them to skip class.
these "College/H.S. students COULD NOT ANSWER Jesse's questions", BASIC QUESTIONS - NOT THEORY of RELATIVITY, WOW how ignorant. I'm going to go and protest something that I have NO CLUE about.
Parents and school should be charged with neglect for allowing unsupervised kids to walk off school grounds. Maybe throw in some child endangerment up in there.
The teachers should be fired for allowing to leave and it being ok ? I think allot of these young kids protesting are going to look back and realize how ignorant they were !
It looks to me that these kids need all the schooling they can get! are they all sharing just the one brain cell? I bet none of them would be there if it was Saturday!
When I was at college many many years ago there was student strikes that involved leaving class. I remember one the professors who we had lab time with saying we were banging our own heads against a wall as it would only hurt our grades. Guess what nobody missed the lab while other fools were out marching on the streets.
You have my FULL support, students. I applaud your activism at such a young age and YOU will be the ones to vote the next election. Please guide the future to a brighter, more inclusive tomorrow!
Nicole Craine This "activism" is not activism. It's misinformed whining. We can not act like the refugees have Constitutional rights when they are not citizens of the United States. It is a fact that the President does have the right to manage immigration. So therefore he can have a temporary travel ban. So please explain how this is activism?
@@kimberlycook4675 It is only humane to open borders to corners of society that need us. These people are suffering under a state of war in their countries. It is common sense that we exercise compassion towards them; this tribalism against non-Americans has to stop.
I agree that the kids are stupid. Why doesn't Jesse Watters man up, and debate someone like Bryan Caplan, a famous libertarian-conservative economist who makes the case for open borders in a book for popular readers?
they have no clue what they think. In the 70's my mother was always complaining on the price of lunches so when they said they were protesting the cost of lunch I went to the protest. Why because I could get out of class just like those kids. They haven't a clue about anything they just wanted to get out of class.
I really liked it, after the girl who said America was a hotbed of terrorism, she then explained she was from South Africa and asked Watters if she should be extremely vetted. He responded after some of the things she said, probably yes. The look on her face, it dawned on her..... Silly child, to take the USA for granted.
Should have asked that girl from Southprocess that her family had to go through to migrate to the United States and why migrated the United States and if she doesn't like it here she should go back to South Africa and make sure to keep in touch to let us know how that works out for her
