I've had multiple discussions with liberals. The standard response when I make a valid point is to change the topic. But they never, and I mean never, acknowledge that I was correct in my assessment and they were wrong. (Always feelings over facts.) @@KashaLupul I don’t disagree, unfortunately too many Italians don’t know our own heritage. In the US we were finally acceptable after the 1960s, and by being accepted thought of as “whíte”. Only about 10% of Italians that came to the US were from northern Italy and they were the exception (always accepted). We are actually the original Latins and without us no one alive today would be calling themselves Latin/Latino/Latinx.

But my race does cause me difficulties, my boss promoted someone of color that worked less than me and was less qualified than me because he needed a diversified management staff, and legitimately told me and the guy that received the promotion this lol. Not only that, but my opinion on things gets completely invalidated because I'm white. I can't debate anyone on anything involving race or political views because it always seems to digress into a race thing. :( And I always worry about offending someone of color if I disagree with them on things involving race, such as white privilege, although I do believe it exists. I am a 63 years old. I have filled out hundreds of different forms, applications and census questionnaires in my life time that ask me for my race and my gender. How does the government expect to eliminate racism when every government form and application asks what race people are?

I was privileged to have to work a full-time job and a part-time job to support my family without government assistance. Before that I was privileged to be drafted into the military while I was still a teenager. This white privilege is killing me

As for being turned down for jobs,that happened to me plenty of times back when I was younger. I've been turned down passed over for Promotions to. In fact in my last job I got passed over for Promotions in favor of people I helped train. I don't think skin color has anything to do with hard times. Yeah my problem with white privilege was "what do I do now?". No one has an answer. They will say stuff like "Be better", or "Check your privilege", or "Donate to charities that help minorities". My impression is that they really want us to just feel ashamed of being white, which I refuse to do.
Different styles get associated negatively in the minds of some people. Just like long hair on men used to mean hippie, druggie, drifter and probably dangerous. In many places it guaranteed you a hassle from the police. My step-dad was a biker and that look definetly put some people on guard. Hoodies and baggy pants was in when I was in school and many stores looked at you twice or kept an eye on you, white or black, in certain situations. It's just if they were black people were afraid of being called a racist for watching them to close in a store. I being white could dress one way and nobody give me a second glance but put on the hoodie and baggy jeans and get watched or even followed around. Some people allow for no other explanations except racial ones and refuse to believe that white people arent given preferential treatment just because there white. People tend to ease back a little on others just out of fear of being called a racist. What's a white guy going to say if he gets accused of something or watched like a hawk? Nothing. White people even tend to think you must have been doing something or probably were going to but if it's a black person they very much fear it being made into a racial issue. White liberals are quicker than most black people to turn into one against a white person. They constantly watch for any chance to signal to the world how wonderful and anti-racist they are by calling out another white person for there racism. Gives them a feeling of false superiority over you and they often actually think black people need them speaking for them and defending them. They unconsciously hold them in very low regard

I refuse to feel guilt over the color of my skin. Something that I have absolutely no control over. For someone to decide that people with a color skin different from their own should be made to feel ashamed of or apologize for it is absolutely absurd. White privilege? I have the American dream: big pay, two homes, & a happy family. I used my white privilege to get this happiness. My parents were unimpressed by my white privilege when I was in high school. They made me go to class, do homework, and study. However, I only graduated because of my white privilege. I enlisted in the military by using my white privilege. I had to pass a physical exam and a mental test, but I got in due to white privilege. My black drill instructor was not impressed by my white privilege, but I got through basic training anyway. My white privilege got me two tours to Asia. I went to college with my white privilege too. I had to pass an entrance exam, study night and day, and attend classes, but white privilege got me through. Then I became an officer, but only through white privilege. I retired from the military because of white privilege. After retirement, I got hired by a guy who liked my white privilege, my resume, and my work ethic. I’m now the boss. That white privilege works but only in some idiot’s mind.
Here are some privileges I experienced as a white hetero male in California: 1. In school, I had to sit through mandatory assemblies during black history month and listen to black speakers talk about how evil white people are and how blacks invented everything 2. When applying for grants, scholarships, and acceptance into colleges I was put behind women and minorities with less accomplishments. 3. When applying for government jobs, I would have to wait for their quotas to be met before they would consider hiring another white male 4. I got to walk the streets and have packs of minorities harass me and call me racial slurs. 5. I had the privilege of liberal self-hating white professors in college constantly tell me how easy I had it (while I was working full time to pay for school because I could not get scholarships). 6. I had women complain to me about the glass ceiling even though there were more women in mgt positions then men in our office. 7. I got to be the butt of many jokes as a straight white male, but I would have been fired if I muttered a gay joke or black joke or a “sexist” joke. Point is, as a straight white man, I now get to be openly mocked, discriminated against, and even oppressed occasionally and at the same time everyone gets to pretend that I am the oppressor that is keeping everyone else down.

Why did I have to work 45 years to support my family, buy a home, send my 2 kids to college, I never got 1 penny of help from the Gov't to help me, I had to do it on my own. I was discriminated against in promotion selection in the Military. Important point; I don't care. As a white man, it has been my privilege to be passed over for promotion at least 15 times by unqualified women and minorities for jobs I ended up getting after the chosen women and minorities failed miserably at them. I didn't cry or protest...I hung in there and gave my best despite being showered with this privilege. Now, the new generation of unqualified misfits refuses to accept responsibility for their own shortcomings and blame their lack of success on harder working, more accomplished people who happen to be white and in many cases male. It's time to cut the losers loose and let them fail or succeed based on their own merits. My money is on them failing.
It means being 13 years old in a white community where you have been living since birth and a police officer asking you what are you doing in the neighborhood. It means applying for a job and being told you can not have a certain style of hair, it means being stopped constantly by police as you fit the description of a 6 foot, bold black man when you are five feet and not bold. In my case, I just purchased an investment property without showing face, my realtor told me in that community nobody will accept my offer. I closed online and the next day I had more than 3 neighbors ask me if I will be living there!!
