Going on current prices here in the U.K., I suppose the question boils down to this: at more than twice the price of a Neutron, is the Taiga more than twice the synthesizer? Taiga £649 Neutron £249 I could buy 2 Neutrons and still have £151 in change. (I would actually only need to buy 1 Neutron as I already own one. Hehe!)
Is the tiaga twice the synthesizer. Technically, no. It's not like you get 4 oscillators, 2 LFO, 4 envelopes, etc... you get my point, but... it can produce sounds not really possible with neutron. It has an arpeggiator. Midi to cv converter. Taiga's filter is different. When you start talking about the wavefolders. You quickly realize it's just different. No, it's not "more" in terms of features. I bought 2 neutrons first, but if Taiga was available at that time. I would have gotten Taiga first before the second neutron
I also have both of these fantastic instruments. While in my opinion the Taiga is the mightier of the two, it also comes with the mightier price. The Pittsburgh oscillators are just incredible. That being said the Neutron is not to be laughed at. The ability to morph seamlessly between wave shape, combined with the same ability on the LFO is lovely. I love the Taiga, but could it outperform two Neutrons working as one ... I have my doubts.
Taiga out performing 2 Neutrons? Not out perform just different. As you know, the Oscillator section of Taiga is something special. Having both is so much fun
@AlgoCompSynth by znmeb same here, I got the west pest and a Q Swarm . the Q swarm is almost as much as the taiga! The q swarm does sound insane .for such a little box it has a lot of crazyness to it, so how much better would the Taiga be!
Big Grime, great vids. I am thinking of getting the Taiga, and have a bunch of semi modulars like the Behringer K2, the west pest the Q Swarm, and was thinking of putting them in a euro rack with the Taiga, and just wonder if it's worth the effort to have them all in one rack, like you got. thoughts after a month of doing it?
In my setup, Taiga stands out because it has three oscillators with wavefold, a feature that none of my other synthesizers possess. By routing these oscillators through Neutron's filter and then into Matriarch's dual delay, I can achieve a unique and distinct sound. I don't view any of my synths in isolation; instead, I see them as integral parts of a whole. While I do occasionally use them individually, most of the time I enjoy mixing and matching them. Just imagine the possibilities of running Taiga through the K2 or the Korg MS20! When I've experimented with running Taiga through the MS20, it produced sounds that neither the MS20 nor Taiga could generate on their own. While they can produce similar sounds individually, the real magic happens when you start combining and patching them together.
@@biggrime your making me want to spend more money!!! it looks so cool and the sound is killer. I like your ideas about routing one into another. I gotta try that.
