I can see Waven being as great as Dofus or Wakfu once they finish adding in some basic features, like guilds. With that said, the early access version is a blast so far.
I've literally been no lifing this game for a few weeks now. So many diverse classes (Scarier race drops in March/April estimated, another 5 sub classes). So many builds possible. This game is thriving as well. I'm stoked for the future of Waven. This game definitely deserves much more attention.
@@NycroLP put into consideration that the population of French players is what truly carries Ankama as a game studio. North America players are but a pinch compared to the French which is the true backbone of profits. This has always been Ankamas traditional marketing strategy. It works. Steam numbers hardly mean anything for this studio.
I like Waven, it is funny game, lots of builds and classes to explore, not PTW, beatiful cartoonish graphic and often challenging combat. The only downside of the game is its MMO aspects. You can have friends and go out on hunt together, but the game does not really encourage that. There are no guilds, no mutual goals, no trading, no real raid bosses and no community-building mechanics. You end up playing mostly alone, leveling new characters, but then you start asking yourself why you do this. I hope they will do something about it and new updates will bring guilds and elements supporting playing with others. Otherwise, people will be coming and going, eventually bored of endless solo farming.
Thank you for covering this game. I just discovered this and am LOVING it. Simple and yet super complex. I feel the upgrades making meaningful advancements.
I personally think its too simple.. Played dofus for 6 years .. that was 15 years ago. Gameplay had a lot more to offer than waven. I would have loved if waven was dofus minus farming etc. Just pick q combat, fight, earn exp. and do it all over
Waven is super fun and cool, but what killed it for me was the lack of variety, every fight almost feels the same I wish it had more to it, it'd easily be a top game for me That is unless they changed it within the past couple months anyways
What i am missing from the game is Wakfu's open world. In Waven you just teleport from one place to another, and each island is just 3 NPCs (except for the 4 big ones). It feels very small once you visit the islands, there is no exploration. The fights also get repetitive like you said, which is why i ultimately quit the game. When the phone version comes out i'll probably come back to it, back it doesn't have enough content for a computer game, in my opinion.
Had a lot of fun with Waven! Been waiting for new content since I got a bit bored by now, but making new characters and builds was so fun! Glad to see it covered

i played it when it was fresh and yes its one of best strategy multiplayer games i have seen on steam xD has co op and pvp and is turn based thats great and yet all is well explained
I played it a lot when it released, never played any of the Wakfu/Dofus before, unfortunately it got old somewhat fast, it was fun while it last for sure
Hey Stix, i saw that on Twitch you were streaming SoulWorker ! Are you planning on making a video on it maybe or do you have any short updated review to share with us? Cheers and thanks in advance!
Beta tester here since early days They were poorly handling it making me giving up looking for it They were completly ignoring the community outside of France, took them forever to do simple small tweaks but they were aways eager to sell us Battle pass IN BETA! Anyways I might give it a try again because it seens more complete
The lack of character creation makes the characters themselves look amazing tho. This way they can make very beautiful and smooth looking 2D animations on the characters, rather than the 2.5D jankiness you get in Dofus or Wakfu. So it's not all bad.
Nah that not a good excuse. Smooth and beautiful 2d animation can be done with character creation if they put in the work for that goal. Heros is more a easy route to take that would give them less work.@@pain7958
Same. Playing wakfu was the same and I tried to get used to it but I really had to know my class in and out to defeat enemies. Might give this game a try though since it's newer
the real thing is dofus. waven is like a similar mini version in the same universe. i think you will love dofus. the full potential is on pc, but you also have dofus touch on mobile.
Firstly this is NOT an MMO..there is no interaction between players in the world or any social interactions. If anything this is more akin to FF tactics, a solo rpg with pvp. There is absolutely nothing MMO like to this game.
the game is great and unique but overall it does become quite boring once you get to certain point they also just take to long to do anything update wise the only new class they added was behind a paywall till recently were its now playable freely but also they never added the 3 races back that they removed from the beta yet and its been a pretty long time now and its just sad cause of this slowness from the devs the game is dead and its sad cause i had hopes it wouldn't be this way and yet we still in early access after almost a year now with really no big changes minus lots and lots of nerfs and changes to pre-existing items causing peoples builds to repeatedly get changed and its annoying
It's the grinding levels for me. it feels like it's taking forever to reach each level every single time I start to get burned out doing the same battles over and over again.
maybe cuz you are more of dynamic guy XD so obviously strategy isnt for you unlike cods bfs and other games where fast movement is important i eat all games as long as its multiplayer even as optional and isnt bugged/glitched (unplayable stage)
