I've tried the Logic mastering plugin a few times now... meh. It's ok. I think it's good for a quick bounce to get your mix to be more competitive. I didn't like what it did with the dynamics and there's still not a great maximizer / limiter option. I'm guessing it's using the Adaptive Limiter under the hood, which isn't the best for mastering imo.

Haven’t tried it. I may someday. I’m just here to tell you that the mastering preset you put together in StudioVerse Effects is quite lovely. I put your preset on the audio track and my own, 3X Grammy Award winner approved mastering chain on the main and man, we are good together on this audio thing! Thanks again! Hi Sean, great videos overall!!! What I find interesting in general, when it comes to all those mastering debates, that SRC and Dithering are not mentioned and discussed as I thought they should be when listening to the 24/48 files compared to what is left on a plattform. Especially in indie rock, where all those details in mid range and highs are so important in order to get this coolness desired. IMO, a lot of indie stuff suffers from this conversion, down to these formats used from spotify etc. What's your take on this? Just curious... Thank you!!!

Once the master WAV goes out for digital distribution it will be converted to a lossy format, which dithering won't affect. It won't be as detailed after the conversion and there's no getting around that. It's certainly not going to be as obvious to the average listener. I suggest using a codec preview tool as that will help at least know what to expect in the conversion.

@@SeanDivine Thanks! Besides distrokid, most distributors ask for 16/44 files though, so dithering as the last step of mastering to be somehow still an issue as the differences between 24 and 16 noticable imo.. I was refering to that...

@@popcafe24 Sounds like you have the right idea... dithering is only to be applied ONCE when bouncing the final master from a higher bit depth 32 / 24 to a 16 bit WAV. It's not to be used when bouncing to a lossy format.

Your master sounds really good, but the Waves master has a more "radio" sound to it. More mids. Yours sounds a little scooped compared to the Waves master. Yours sounds great though, too.

Certainly feels like with all the modern tech, mastering (and following it, mixing) is a slowly dying out art form. It's only a matter of time before dedicated human engineers won't be needed anymore. Great vid and comparison!

It’s certainly come a long way in a relatively short amount of time… I think the art forms in the purest sense will always be appreciated. Mastering in general though has become so much more accessible. Not to say AI mastering is the same experience but having affordable options available changes the game for musicians. There’s never been a more competitive era to be an engineer though!

Prefer your master. Cleaner low mids, more high end definition and intro dynamics retained.

landr processes drums similarly... it's even cheaper for playing around, seems to be the way to go to me

I guess, in my later years, my ears are shot! Although I'm listening to the 1440 video through Sennheiser hd600s, I can't hear much difference between any of the options! The Depth button made it slightly muddier is all. So I personally wouldnt spend 6 dollars, unless I was too rushed to slap an appropriate Ozone preset on.

Unfortunately it has only one style that is the style it was taught in, the lady that taught it has mad skills but its not the same for someone who specialized in certain Genres, that is why in the soon future all masters of Mastering like Sean will have their own style or brand of AI generating mixes in the style of so no one can own your style they have to lease just as one would a song same with AI style singing, its been talked about for years in the tattoo world cause you can get an AI tattoo fro Von Van Dee but only if you pay for the AI involved. AI cannot take over without a unique style to be worth any thing. So make sure you got and keep all your masters unhackable cause them are whats going to be used to train AI in your style. And if stolen AI can find those using your style as well lol.
