Hey Legos. Iv been carving for 25years. When I first started it was very difficult for me but I kept practicing. I know I make it look easy but it is still difficult for me at times.
Rick Metz My father has been in the jewelry manufacturing business for 30+ yrs, I'm now learning to take it over. It seems like everyone is moving towards CAD and 3D printing. What are your feelings about that? I really want to learn carving, but my father tells me "Not to waste my time" with that.
I work for a manufacturing company that uses both cad and a wax carver. Our wax carver does extremely intricate designs that can't be done on a cad as well as plain tracer bands because it is faster than wax printing. There is definitely a need for both in the industry. Don't give up on wax carving. :)
Are you working under a Microscope or just optivisor great work either way .For those wanting to learn wax carving the video's on RU-vid are priceless and can help anyone wanting to learn .Wax is cheap just start carving .
Hi Dave Yes I'm using a scope. It's a zoom scope. You can find one online at the microscope store .com. For around 400. It's worth the money. If your work looks good under a scope it looks awesome to the naked eye. Thank you for watching.

Hi Am. You will have to take it to a good jeweler(not all Jewelers are good). Or go online and search for casters in your area. You might want to ask around. I work for several stores so they take care of the casting. Please do shop around because prices range from $25 to $200 for a casting.
This seems like it takes a lot of practice and talent. But im just trying to understand where and why jewelers wax is used. My razertip pyro machine has a jewelers wax drawing pen and i guess that's used for drawing on ukranian pysansky eggs. Ok. But what is jewelers wax and why would you make a ring out of it? Even as a really sturdy wax its still just wax so why do it? Is it a mold? Its pretty but i just cant fathom as to why you would make it.

you put the wax ring on a wax stick and put it into a some kind of container wich you fill with plaster. the stick has to be sticking out of the plaster of course. after the plaster hardens, you continue to heat up the piece of plaster with the wax in it in order for the wax to melt out of the mold. After that, just pour in whatever metal you want your ring to be made out of

i know many have said it already, but the only thing wrong with this video is all the transitions. They are extremely distracting and make your video very hard to watch
