You don't need to go into the map to use blue markers, just hold the marker button. You can also hold the fire button and you won't reload the rifle so you can see the hit and where the animal is going.

LOVING this game. So relaxing and immersive. Exactly what I want in a hunting game. Aside from a few performance issues (ps5 for me), it's amazing. Graphics are overall great except for those clouds.. oof. Lol

Played way of the hunter for 12hrs yesterday. The best hunting game I have ever played. Ill still play COTW to finish my great one grinds. For me Way of the Hunter is more my speed. There is just something amazing about making that heart shot on a 3 star plus after a 30 min 500+yard stalk.

I would like to add one thing - you dont necessarily have to be in map to put additional marker, you can also press and hold x to put blue ones ;)

One tip for finding your kills is to use a regular marker just before the shot then track the animal with the scope as far as you can and then use a tracker marker at the last place you see the animal. That way you can start tracking at the last place you saw it and if you cant find any tracks there then you can go back to the shot location and track from there.

@@shanelady1049 I on the other hand use it to mark each end every bloodtrack. Does it help? Not really. Was it satysfying when I finally tracked down Hollywood's body, turned around and saw +/- 70 blue markers? Sure it was! :D

I got hooked on COTW before buying this and I enjoy WOTH more. Animals seem a bit easier to find which puts more emphasis on positioning yourself for the best shot while balancing not spooking animals away.

Question .. How long is 1 game hour in real time .. And what other shot animations do they have .. Would u try shooting an animal on the leg or something like will it effect it's running speed or show a limping animation (unethical but part of realism)

I started playing it yesterday and I'm actually liking it alot. What's sad is there r features in this game I'd like in cotw and vise versa. Will definitely be playing this with cotw. This game has something special about it that i wasn't expecting from the reviews i saw on it. Not that the reviews were negative. It was just hard to believe anything could compete with cotw. U just have to play it and see for yourself.

Should be fun! 12 hours later: 10 bucks shot 3 bucks found 0 heart shots Never been so frustrated. 😖 (TIP: After seeing this guide i realized I probably should have spent my cash on the grunt caller instead of the 300 and bought a lower tier gun instead or kept the starting rifle in the load out. I have no use for the 300 this early on and it's robbing my self of LOTS of money on badgers and foxes)

Picked this up on the Xbox. I have definitely experienced some framerate and audio hitches. The gameplay itself is super compelling; though. The sad thing is that when I look at the reviews on the Xbox store, it is getting panned for various reasons. Most gripes I have seen can be resolved with one word: patience. “The trailers showed so many animals to shoot. I walked around for a long time and haven’t seen anything.” -this isn’t Big Buck Hunter. The animals are smart and have good senses. The game stresses the use of glass to spot targets at range, but honestly when I walked with the wind on my face or my cheeks, it didn’t even come to that. I saw game crossing my pass at close range before too long. “You need to make it easier to track animals once I shoot them.” -if you place a mark near an animal before you shoot it, you should be able to find a blood trail. If you examine the blood trails and stand still with Hunter vision active, you will see a pulsing series of marks leading you toward your kill. Keep in mind, this game makes you work for it more initially. Call of the Wild is arcadey by comparison when it comes to finding tracks and tracking kills. Not going to lie, this is much more fun if I am feeling lazy, but if you want a different experience, you could do much worse than Way of the Hunter.

To make a clarification of of the bugged steyr pro hunter 1 rifle. Its a 243 caliber but its showing up on other peoples games as a 7mm! So that's the bug! I can see yours is showing the 243 caliber which is the correct caliber so yours is not bugged! Just wanted to let you know about that

what is the best rifle to get? I've heard the Steyr Monobloc is the best but the game states it's a tier 5? I've also heard the Steyr Carbon CL II will lower your cash value as it is unethical to use??? If I wanna hunt Moose, Bears, Deer can I use the Monobloc or the SM12 without having to swap to a different gun to get the most money? Lastly, what difficulty is the game on by default if you just hit start game and not select territory?

High, maybe you already know this but in WoTH it is all about bullet energy on impact. You can hunt a Moose with a 243 if you get close enough, you can down a white tail with a 300 if you are distanced enough, the game penalizes you only when you use the wrong pairing of calibre and distance. From what i read, the Monobloc lets you down lvl 5 animals from most distances, the 300 and the Lapua will decrease your money and hunt rating, because of loss of meat. Neither seems to affect your trophy rating (only shots to the head really mess that up).

Weapon tire and and animal tier does NOT matter. It's all about the energy in the bullet. Tier 5 weapons are for mid-big game and tier 6 weapons are for long range. The .308 can take anything from deer to moose from 300m with a good shot. The .300 can take big game at any range. Don't use the .338 under 500-600m.

Since you asked... The graphic is nice, but never got wish to make a photo of the landscape like in CotW. Someone said clouds are no good, but for me, the grass is terrible in WotH. And, among other few little things, I don't like they omitted wind direction in Ranger difficulty. IRL, even if I'm blind, I can still sense the wind direction and how strong it is. Wont talk about how much smell helps you IRL. But, overall, I really like this game. For me, immersiveness and hunting experiences are better then math and calculations in CotW. Both games are great and I'll still play CotW from time to time.

It NEEDS a patch to allow changing the blood highlight color and possibly to make it easier to spot while tracking. Tracking is next to impossible on console if I don't see the animal drop its gone. And i've been hitting solid double lung shots. Lots of graphic bugs in single player on Xbox Series X so far things like animals being a glitched series of lines or moving in slow motion / glitchy slow movement. Flat out frame rate drops.

I have a question whenever I aim through my scope I seem to get this fuzzy red dot it's not always centered with the scope is that showing where the bullets going to hit due to wind direction? If so that's cool but if that's not what it is I mean what is it and why is it there I can't find anything on it anywhere can you please help?

Thank you Lady for an awesome guide. It's a shame the game doesn't cover any of this. A simple keyboard layout would be nice. And for herd management how much time in real life is game time... How do we know when the two-star buck will grow into the four-star buck how long does that take... The game looks great but has so many holes in it. I've made four perfect shots on deer and unable to find them, due to just getting frustrated with the lack of blood and the game saying the animal will expire in 0 to 50 yards well 400 yards later I'm still tracking it... I'd say it is. I love the game. Just beware alot of people are getting tons of bugs. I only had the same bug 3 times and a crash ( the bug was my bullet stopped existing ). If you can't handle bugs then wait until most are fixed. I can only talk for the pc version.

I played for a few hours yesterday, right from like 10min. after release and I´m LOVING the game so far, it´s such a different exoerience to any other hunting game I´ve played. I don´t really wanna compair game to eachother, but I feel like I "have to", compair this to the other goliath in the genre - The Hunter: Call Of The Wild (COTW). I got about 2.5k. hours in COTW, and I´m still really enjoying that game, but other then the genre; WOTH and COTW can´t be compaired at all imo. The only game I feel, that even comes close to this game in more aspects then the genre is The Hunter: Classic. But even when compairing to Classic, WOTH is a totally different experience, but I don´t have nearly as much time in Classic (only about 500h.) So let´s try to do a compair between WOTH and COTW. - WOTH delivers a "true" hunting simulation, in the sense that you don´t just jump into a game and shoot like 30+ animals pr. hour like in COTW - You´ll get lucky to take 10 in 1h. ! - WOTH delivers a "true" hunting simulation, in the sense you have to really thing about what you´re doing, to not spook the animals and make a bad shot, cuz good luck finding the animal if you do! - WOTH delivers a "true" hunting simulation, in the sense that you actively have to look for blood when tracking, since there´s no directional cone or anything like that - Your animal could start out by running in one direction, and then suddenly do a 90 turn and bolt in a completely other direction, and you´ll never know unless you actively pay attention to the blood trails. - WOTH delivers a "true" hunting simulation, in the sense - WOTH delivers a "true" hunting simulation in terms of immersion,. The way animals behave, move and uses their senses makes WOTH a "true to life" experience. WOTH delivers a "true" hunting simulation, in the sense that; at least from what I´ve seen, the animals isn´t nearly as predictable in their patters - i.e being in a specific spot at the exact same time every time, but they have a set timeframe they COULD be there; where as in COTW, you´re 100% sure, that the animals is gonna be in an exact spot, at an exact time every day. - You have to think more about what animals to kill, before you take a shot, cuz your choise doesn´t only affect the single animal, but the entire herd that the animal is in. - WOTH delivers a "true" hunting simulation, in the sense that the animals have an actual lifecircle. QUESTION: I f***ed up at the Hollywood mission, and made a really messed up shot, and he bolted faster then I could do a follow-up shot. Anyway I can restart it, or something like that? I seem to be stuck at that mission, until I get the harvest...

Very accurate comment! This is by far the most accurate to a really hunting game, I have played both games cotw and woth, the older game is more of a play around game. You go in and just shot everything you want and you’ll be able to find it. WOTH you are not doing that lol! This is as close to a real life experience as you can get without being in the field. Answer: try resetting it and see if he pops up if not good luck finding him, I’d assume he’s in that area still, my buddy had to walk around for 15 minutes because he couldn’t find Hollywood ether

I waited 30mins. for them to walk from eating to drinking coz I don't know how to approach them and boy I get to kill him with a heart shot in just 3hours of game time as a zero game experience in hunting game. I'm having information overload with herd management and such but I'm probably 6-10 hours in this game..🥰..🥰 loving it.

@@kj12351 The blood tells you where the animal went, the problem is that due to bugs, sometimes it disappears. The developers have already released a partially improved version for PC, we are waiting for patch 1.6 for consoles.

Here is the thing for me with Call.of the wild and way of the hunter. The developers of Call of the wild said from day 1 of release they were going to treat that game as a Long Term Project which they have kept there word with constantly updating the game and adding feature after feature! Even now they are upgrading the game to next gen consoles! Now with way of the hunter are the developers going to treat this game the same? Honestly I don't think so i think we will get a few bug patches and maps added but that's about it maybe a few more animals added but that's really it. I don't see the developers supporting this game like the developers have supported call of the wild! Will they add tree stands, ground blinds,tents,and back packs? A blood hound? I honestly don't think they will I believe what we have now besides a couple updates is all we are going to get! I hope I'm wrong because this game is great it has a lot of potential but I see Call of the wild as the better hunting game still yet and its just going to get better when the next gen versions get released but way of the hunter is a good game it really is an I would like to see it get better than it is now but I'll still be playing both of course lol

time will tell if they have a long term plan 7 to 10 years of content and right now way of the hunter has no shotgun shells for foxes and wild boars and wolves. given that i like to shotgun hunt those animals in the hunter call of the wild. thats disappointing

So I shot hollywood but was never able to find it. Now I can’t advance the story not knowing if it actually died or have to run around the whole area to try and find the body 🤦‍♂️ is ther a way to reset it? Or am I just stuck with story after 1 mission lol

Umm.. One thing you didn't mention which also isn't in the encyclopedia is, how do you actually take the picture in photo mode. I can get into photo mode, compose my shot but there doesn't appear to be anything to actually take the photo. I checked keybinds and the encyclopedia. Its like a big secret.

also I have experienced a major bug .. I was walking in the woods with auto travel engaged and I decided to go back to the lodge ...but I failed to halt my guy before I pressed the rapid travel button .. The game crashed... now every time I try to rapid travel the game crashes even though I have done it right .. I checked all the game files and they all checked out fine ...how to get out of this pickle ...? ... oh yeah I'm on PC

A really wonderful game. COTW unfortunately stopped supporting consoles, so I believe they positioned themselves as the last generation. WOTH have constant updates, I really didn't understand the lack of the Portuguese language. That's a little shameful.

Do you know if this will be available for the PS4 sometime in the future ? Or is that going to be a never thing, if so I think that's a real down low way of trying to make people having to go out and buy a PS5, or some other new device to play it on ! I haven't even had my PS4 long enough to have to go out and get the PS5 ! I'm not that kind of rich, not in todays world, where the price of everything under the sun just keeps going up, higher and higher, like everybody's got a money tree growing in their back yard !

How do you know the fitness without killing them? If you can't then there's no way to know if it'll become a 5* when it becomes mature

The older the buck, the bigger the rack. So you can understand the level of fitness of the animal by looking for their relative stars. A 1 star adult is unlikely to become a monster, never really, But a two star young has loads of potential.

Look at the rack. If you see 2 young bucks and one has a tiny rack it's fitness is bad.

You wanna shoot the mature small level males to level up the larger matures in the herd. You can see the genetic fitness after shooting them in the scorecard

The rack. If you see 2 bucks of the same age then the one with the smaller rack has low fitness. Take out ANY low fitness animal you find and don't shot females ( unless it's for a mission ).

Wow, the influx of negative reviews on Steam is really discouraging. I don't give a damn about that FOV and lack of key remapping (although it's so basic, it just beyond me why they haven't implemented it). What worries me that people with really powerful rigs are complaining about the performance. Waiting is in order then.

My rig isn't exactly cutting edge and it runs quite well for me I only have a 2060 graphics card and moderate cpu but the graphics card is the main thing and the game is pretty much maxed out on settings I still get 60 FPS and I have that capped cuz that's all my monitor will do... if you can run COTW .. you can run this

I shot 3 deer ( playing on p5) and couldn’t locate the deer i shot. Hunting sense and all. I even marked it before i shot it. But couldn’t find the blood splatter. And i know i hit it

It's unfinished even by the DEV's own admission (no FOV slider/no keyboard remapping/hard and soft crashes/poor FPS on very powerful PC's etc.) so I'd wait for a little bit if I was you till they patch it out a bit, lot of people are slamming hard it in the reviews right now.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GAME!!! As an avid COTW PC player I had high expectations for Way of the Hunter. After playing it for a few hours I'm thoroughly unimpressed! The game reeks of an indy game that is half baked. Everything is clumsy and clunky. The first thing I noticed and wasn't expecting was the shitty graphics compared to COTW. I play on ultra setting with my RTX 3080. Seeing as Way of the Hunter is a next gen game, I had no doubt that it would look much better than COTW. Boy was I wrong!! The graphics are no where as realistic as COTW. The environment looks like a weird clay, pastel sculpture. Textures are muddy and take time to load in. The next glaring flaw was absolutely NO button mapping, making the controls a complete joke! Then there is next to no recoil on the rifles! This game is worth no more than $10! The majority of RU-vidrs are praising this game and I believed them. What were they thinking!? This game needed another year in development or sold at a bargain bin price for what it is... nothing more than an indy game.

game is great yes, better than arcade cotw, dream on. and you have not played cotw at the start obviously, it was way way worse.
