Another 3 day vlog following me on my travels -------The Road Legends!-------- A Group of mates who also vlog! You may well have heard of them? Luke C: / lukecuss01 Jay - / truckerj. . Kevin - / kevtee Scott - / scottandrews
I see a common thread in yours and Luke's vlogs, you want long days, he doesn't! As a lifelong railwayman and part time trucker, I've always thought that allowing drivers to work 13/15 hour days on a regular basis is too much, I think the post Clapham rail crash working hours limit imposed on the railways of maximum 12 hours worked and minimum 12 hours off should apply to all jobs involving driving, plant and machinery etc. Saying that, there have been times when I've been trucking that 15 hours has got me out of trouble! On my recent CPC course all the truck drivers were aghast that there was a train driver there (who has an LGV licence) whose basic contract is a 35 hour, 4 day working week at a basic rate of £28 per hour, with overtime at enhanced rates readily available, shift length between 6 and 10 hours. Alright for some!
You mused about what truck drivers did before the motorways were built. - Answer they used the old trunk roads, so for example on this trip you would have been taking the the old road over Shap. Also they didn't have have sleeper cabs so they had to find digs in (often) driver's dormitories (UGH!). I was a bit disappointed that you didn't shows us you going over the River Tay as that is a quite pectacular bridge crossing. Keep 'em coming Jenko, enjoy them.
Nice vlog again but a quick question do u ever get sick of your job as sometimes you seem as though you don't enjoy it by a few little comments. If you had your time again would you still choose HGV driving or something else.. ..
Very good vlog martyn. Stu and I Look forward to watching you every Saturday night. In my view Don’t change anything camera angle perfect sound quality spot on. Cheers jenko... 🙋♀️Toodles.

Nice vlog again martyn -enjoy your longer vlogs -just out interest on a average week how often do you need refuelling &does your company prefer you do it at their yards or don't mind where you do it ?
Thanks Robert normally fuel up about 3 times a week and yes they prefer us to fuel up at our yards but can use shell card if we are caught short so to speak 👍
Do you come across any female trampers drivers? I do not see many female driver in trucks these days it is as if this type of job no longer appeals to the ladies.
Enjoy watching ur videos which I always share Jenko specially up my neck of the woods. As I stay in Falkland where Outlander was filmed only about 40mins from Dundee. If ur ever doing a job in Falkland village I’ll buy you a Mocha at Fayre Earth 🌍 shop that overlooks the Fountain Mate. Shout out would be braw Pal.
Hi Martyn you shouldn’t need to apologise for being a bit low through the week. Being a way from loved ones and the stress of being messed about loading etc it’s no wonder you had a dip in mood. My keys are hung up after many years of trucking for Skint and Knacked and Downtons I help my partner out with her business www.ohlalashop.co.uk now. Please keep making the videos we all enjoy them so much. If Clare wants something nice for the wedding night tell her to give my partner an email we would be more than happy to help out. Chin up chest out mate keep them wheels lit from Trucking Jimbo and Emma x
Hi jenko thanks for flashing me back over today about 12ish on m62 between j35-j34 my wagon is a white Volvo box wagon reg ends in VWM if u was recording. I believe you now about how slow your wagon is i thought mine was at 52mph. How come you had a downton trailer on or will that be revealed in the vlog video.
Hi mate, great videos watch out Steven Spielberg! 😁 😁. All the waiting around hasn't improved since my day I see, I do feel sorry for you on that one. The trucks have improved as well, miss it at times. Good luck and keep those wheels moving! 👍👍
Another good vlog bro keep it up, Everyone gert home sick at times especially if your a distance driver, You just showed your emotion on camera nothing to be sorry about that... we want the good the bad the ugly in the trucking world no point in showing only the good bit's :) also on another note Nathan thats joining your company he passed on 8th december I passed mmy hgv classs 1 on the 7th of december a day before him thats close hahahaha and thanks for the shoutout also didnt expect that I am Andrew Adam, ;) thanks for the tips on my new job and the Merc :) appreciate it... Really enjoyed your latest vlog. Some spectacular scenery up there in Scotland! No need to apologise for a flat day, we’re all entitled to miss home, but I’m glad to see you got home Friday👍🏻Best wishes😃
From Hexham I wouldn't of went that way mate. Quicker going back to Newcastle and up. When you came out of Abington think you meant Lanarkshire hills not Cumbria hills lol. That board is worse when you load it out of Ochiltree the roads are awful out of that plant.
Hello Martyn, Always stop at Abington on my way down to 'The South' and sometimes refuel on the way back up, depending. Maybe one day our paths will cross on the road..One thing I will say is that I hadn't heard of Keedwells before returning to trucking and seeing you videos...They are everywhere....maybe not as 'everywhere' as Stobarts but I see at least 8-10 on my travels...Hope to see you about soon.. PS Those hills are in Lanarkshire, still in Scotland...Cumbria is just over the border in England...Britains wettest county..
How are you doing today following your channel for quite some time you’ve put up great videos love to see your country said I am from America and if you don’t mind I’d like a shadow keep up the great work
Hi Martyn, Thank you for answering my question, I think if I get the chance I will have to give it a go. Another great video , your becoming one of the best, keep it going.
hello martyn i like your blogs brings driving HGV's back to me. what part of wales are you from please. i was at RAF st athan near barry i remembered it rained most of the time there.
Hi. Martyn thank you for posting this vlog for a Saturday night and the Iceland beef lasagne are excellent and could you please do a live video one day this week please.
Working time is actual working time, driving time is actuall time driving. You have to have a 15min break within the first 6 working hours or a 45 min break at 4 and a half hours Hope this helps 👍
I failed my class 1 reverse on friday, When i was doing my training i was getting it in the bay no problem then on test day the nerves got the better of me😬 got retest on thursday🤞
Hi Martin. Great vlog. Love thr trips up north, cracking views. I used to travel up there on a regular basis until I had my back injury a couple yrs ago. Watching Yr vlogs makes me want to beat this injury and get back on the road again. Keep on trucking and travel safe 👍👍👍
Regarding the Jamieson tippers :- you're probably already aware but just in case, because there have been a few drivers from south of the border caught out. The speed limits in Scotland for HGVs are generally 10mph lower than the rest of the UK (40 on single carriageway, 50 on dual). Edit: I should've watched a bit longer before commenting - you know! :)
