You're right. The music is once again controlled by executives, not by the artists. Waylon was responsible for improving the quality and realness of the music. I don't listen to country anymore because they've shifted away from what he did.
This show was recorded just after I first met Waylon & Jessi (Dec. 1979). Brings back a lot of good memories. I also had the pleasure of meeting James Garner at one of Waylon's shows soon after this one.
Incredible when I drive by the old Mr Luckys on Grand Ave here in Phoenix and think he played there one day. Its closed now and only memories of fun weekends. Just like Waylon...
Waylon 5 min to lights 30 seconds later not lopsided (ifyaknowyaknow) walks up 8 riser steps gives a twist off his hat an ease into that blast of adrenaline. Lord I ms ya hoss it was truly a long time ago.
The year I was born. What an amazing performance by the king of country, and James Garner in the audience, the world is just not as cool as it was back then.
