This is a 3 pack of fine songs performed by a joyous Waylon Jennings on August 7, 1984 in Austin TX, appearing on a superb DVD by New West Records from 2004 in my possession. The whole group, including great Ralph Mooney on pedal steel, is in a very good mood here. WJ is at his best. Enjoy!

Awesome performance Listening to Waylon is like going to a fine steak house and enjoying a porterhouse tbone with all the sides you would want to go with it Today’s country is like a few fries short of a happy meal , oh and without the toy

I was in the audience for this ACL taping. Met Jessi afterwards. Saw Waylon at the Austin Aqua Festival the night before. The greatest country singer.

This was taped just a few months after he quit cocaine for good. It's a great show. I'm told he got up to 6 packs of cigarettes a day after he got off the drug. You can hear it a little bit in his voice, but not nearly so much as you could a few years later. He quit the cigs when he had to have a triple heat bypass around 1988 or so, and in the later highwayman recordings his voice is as smooth as it ever was! Love him, love him!
