My older brother had two 58 Star Chiefs. One was a convertible, with 3 duces,and a stick on the floor. The other one was a two door hard top. I loved those cars. He also had a 56 Star Chief, in green and white.

I used to own the rarest 58 Pontiac made, but it was stolen about 20 years ago. It was a 58 Pontiac Pathfinder Sedan Delivery, 449 built.

I spent the early part of my childhood around a 4 door 1956 Starchief in some super dark forest green with glitter in it (that's how it looked to me). This was in like 68-73ish and it was my grandfather's car. He bought it brand new in 56, the only new vehicle he ever owned. I remember sitting in the back seat on the passenger side eating one of those big round chocolate covered cherry filled candies (we were poor, that was a very rare treat. Vintage candy shops still sell them but I can't recall the name offhand) and as my mom was going through this nutszoid intersection (I distinctly remember it was some cluster f*** of like 5 roads coming together. How my 4-5 year old self remembers that is beyond me) a cop of all things hit her and the drivers fender went right into the back right door, right where I was sitting. The respective stance of the cars made it where the fender smashed the door in right over my legs and I didn't even get a scratch. My mom freaked out cause it certainly didn't look like I was ok from her pov but I was like all calm, "Mom there's a police car in my lap." 😂 I actually said that and I was worried over my candy being ruined. When the camera panned to the back seat in the vid I had a flashback to that. Thanks for reading my rambling. 😊

Do not know about the 250k on the chrome. Do know go get them back to showroom conditoon is a fortune. They have almost become too dangerous to drive. One bad accident and out comes the giant checkbook.

My Mom and Dad had a red and white one, they traded it in on a '66 Grand Prix, next day called the dealer back and truedcto buy it back, but they'd already sold it! Loved the GP, silver with the vacuum gauge on the console... loved that one too! Dad traded that on a '69 Mercury Marquis Brougham... which was my "date car" in High School... until they bought me my own '69 Cougar XR7... life was good back then

The days when auto engineers & designers worked together. The workmanship back then was first class. Today we build nothing but very expensive prices of crap that cost you a fortune when they break down.

I’ve been looking for a pair of rose coloured glasses like the ones you seem to own. May I ask where you acquired them? Cars from that era, as much as we enthusiasts love them, really we’re not that well engineered or constructed. If you got 100,000 miles out of them it was almost a miracle. Today’s cars are better built, better engineered, more powerful, more fuel efficient, more safe, etc. Just sounds to me like you are an old man.

Yeah, as much chrome as all the '58 GM cars had I could have thought he was joking but he sounded serious which was seriously exaggerated. Chrome has gotten ridiculously expensive, thank the Feds for that, but I'm betting to get all the chrome done on that wagon could easily run $20,000.

Never saw this kind of detail on the Pontiac wagon. Just shows how superior design was compared to today, and far more practical than most people will ever know who drive modern SUVs. Get the car you want now before the Biden mandates kick in in 2026, where you'll need to take a breath test every time you start your car, and contend with a mandatory kill switch to shut you down. NEVER vote for people like Joe Biden and Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
@tommylord

I thought blabber mouth Schultz had faded into the dust bin of history by now. A-O-C and her ilk, plus Ghretta followers are the real threat to transportation freedom right now.

Thanks for turning a car enthusiast’s post into your personal political diatribe. Consider this: how many 20 year old cars do you see on the road today (2004’s) as compared to how many you saw in 1976 (1956’s)? If they were so damned good they might have actually lasted. Go ahead and vote class clown (DJT) for class president. You get what you deserve.

Artificially drives up prices, trading back and forth with other 'flippers' driving prices up and up.. the average old car lover cant afford to buy now... HEY WAYNE.. the bad news for you.. pretty soon, the music will stop, and your left without a chair.. without buyers for those over inflated prices,,
