To this day when I say ''very well'' I almost always use that exact same tone. It takes all of my willpower not the complete the quote with a ''prepare to die''.
Ok, Wayne isn't super duper rich, but his apartment has decent space if they can fight in it like that, he can afford 2 phone lines and whatever it costs to get the tapes/books to learn Cantonese...I'd say he's fine in my book...though I would still laugh at his Pacer...
And there is a Hong Kong film about vampires w/ Jackie Chan in it. He dubs his own voice in the English dubbed version and still has his martial arts skills and Jackie Chan antics. It's called the Twins Effect a.k.a. Vampire Effect. I watched the English dubbed version. It's a bit cheesy but still entertaining. That film was in 2003, i believe.
Neat fact about James Hong, the actor playing the dad: at 93, he is possibly the most prolific film actor of all time with roles in over 600 movies If you watch movies, you've seen him in something.
Maybe it’s just me. I think it would have been pretty funny if after Wayne defeated Cassandra’s dad, if Kurt Russell had a short cameo at the end of this scene as “Jack Burton”. If he would have said “It’s all in the reflexes”, when he defeated Lo Pan that would have been really funny. 😂😂
Even better Hong dips into his Lo Pan voice. *Lo Pan:* Get out of here Mister Burton. I'm trying to keep this clown from marrying my daughter. *Jack:* He already banged her Dave.
Russell could have been delivering Cantonese food, watching from the elevator. After Wayne defeats his future father in law, indeed, the delivery guy could say "I knew he'd beat him. It's all in the reflexes."
It's funny how Cassandra throws a sword for Wayne at 2:49 like she was saying "get my father back" but, I guess while she loves both her father and Wayne, she would want both of them to defend themselves where even if Wayne got a sword first, she probably would have thrown one for her father also.
I never found Wayne's World 2 to be very funny, but it has its moments, this, and Charlton Heston's cameo as 'A better actor' being among the better ones, and I love the way Wayne says 'Jeff' after a sentence 🙂
A similar and also very funny scene is Lloyd Christmas' daydream of impressing his would be "girlfriend" with a martial arts fight in a Chinese restaurant in Dumb and Dumber. The Kung Fu Chef and Jim Carrey making a fish head impression is priceless 👌 🤣
Everybody was Kung fu fighting Those kicks were fast as lightning In fact, it was a little bit frightening But they fought with expert timing - Carl Douglas, 1974
Come on man, don't knock the dubbed. The man worked very hard to portray an Americanized version of an overprotective traditional Chinese father living in America. *End Scene.*
Asians don’t really give a crap of racism because we expect some people to be racist. We don’t bitch and moan about being discriminated. We just work harder, get better educated and make more money and ultimately have you work for us. That’s a much better revenge and more productive! Why complain about racism. As long as you are wealthy you will be treated much better. A completely different approaching to whining and bitching about racism.
It would be funny if the stunt double looked nothing like him, like when the white guy with the Afro wig doubles for the black woman in "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka."
Don't worry Mr.Ceolin I fully plan to get back too work ,I am licensed trades men ....Just not with the union...for they have played themselves and are driving up the price of inflation and sending jibs over seas and south of the border .
You’re so right, they are making fun of the stereotype, not the subject of the stereotype. That’s generally the intellectually higher point of the joke, which is ignored by people who want to take offence, at any cost. When people get offended by proxy, it says more about their narcissism and humourlessness, than about their virtue.
