Maurice Lewis - who later went on to Independent WLVI. Thanks for the post - particularly enjoying the vintage Boston television !

It's great to see these slices of life from particular places and times. And to appreciate a time when TV news reporting was still taken seriously by the best stations. After limits on corporate ownership of stations were lifted and community standards ended, broadcast news became junk.

And gave rise to the "us good, them bad"/"we're good, they're bad"/"right good, left bad"/"left good, right bad" destructive style of modern talk "journalism."

Back when WBZ was an NBC affiliate before making the switch to CBS decades later. Also, back when WBZ was still owned by Westinghouse Broadcasting (Group W).

Group W bought CBS. It just appears the opposite.

The "Fashion" from the 70's is incredible! Did people "really" dress like that?

Ill tell you this: I was a kid of the 70s and I thought the clothes were horrifying then. But everybody was wearing the stuff so there you go.

Seems like 90% of your content is from the late 70s and early 80s. However, do you have any more stuff from the late 80s and early 90s? In particular full Chicago news broadcasts from those years?

Still using film rather than video tape for reports then. Might have been shot earlier in the day but with all the spots and scratches it looks as though it could have been shot five years earlier.
