Thank you so much for posting this! I remember when that first one was running on WBZ-TV in late 1976 thru April 1977. It's just fantastic to see that promo spot again!
Man, this was when WBZ was tops (and worth watching). Agree to disagree, I don't like what's become of the station. Some things won't change. I accept and respect that, but the legend is gone. Indeed, the old "Group W" style font wouldn't help them. It wouldn't even match. Thanks VT for making We're 4 available here. I mean it. This is our "piece of the 'old school' Boston TV rock"!!
The We're 4 You promo has Erich Kunzel, then the conductor of the Boston Pops. He's in Cincinnati, conducting the Pops orchestra there. If stations, want eyeballs, start doing promos like this again...People love community-based promos.
At 2:54, they say that "we're for hope and Yankee Pride". Yankee pride? Not in Boston! GO RED SOX! On another not, the people in those videos seemed to enjoy being in WBZ's promos because they were smiling and waving at the cameras.
I remember this promo, I could even sing parts of it! Too bad channel 4 stinks now, I hate their "Opinion" format, I want accurate, truthful news, not some talking heads' opinion/slant on a news story. They need to really revamp their station, they've lost their credibility. I miss the old days!
