I'm pretty sure almost Every Wrestling Company with 'Weekly Recorded Content' has gone to the 'NWO Well' (by what ever legally distinct name they have to use ) on a regular basis for the last 20 years
Sean O'Haire, Mark Jindrak, Kanyon and Chuck Palumbo are some of the most underrated talents WCW had A lot of cruiserweights too like Helms, Chavo, Evan Karagias, Shannon Moore, Jamie Noble and others WCW had a really good roster in 2001
WCW really went all in with the Darkness Induced Audience Apathy, there was damn near no point in rooting for the faces as you knew they were going to get screwed over constantly regardless of how long it took.
@@MoonlightStrider it's really a shame, too. that had so many chances to make DDP into a rock or austin level star, but always screwed him over. he was always very popular, but just needed that one victory to catapult him to the top of the business and he never got it.
Dustin credits a lot of his current abilities to doing intense sessions of DDP Yoga. That stuff is legit, let me tell you from experience. Brian doesn't just say "shoulders back chest out" for no reason lol
He was such a great worker. His suicide was a tragedy but hopefully some good came out of it as a learning point to help stop sexuality discrimination.
His Review Of WWE Worst 14 Years Of The 21st Century Will Be A Big Treat. It Will Take Years To Review The Worst If The WWE, The Worst New Generation Era Pay Per Views, The Attitude Era Worst. There Are 10 Worst WWE Attitude Era Pay Per views(In Articles & Videos Done. Then The Worst 10 Pay Per Views Of The Ruthless Aggression Era. And Then The Last 16 Years. Especially The Last 5 Years. Only A Smark Like Today’s Bullshit.
I like the "Here's what you missed" part at 25:00-ish, right before the main event. Showcases all the sub stories WCW had going back in 2001. Brings me back to memory lane.
The fact that the guys running the second biggest promotion in the world didn't understand simple concepts like faces go over at the PPV is always gonna be hilarious to me.
Or that the faces get any kind of major victory over the heels. You can have heels go over at the PPV from time to time, but the faces need major victories so that they aren't just humiliated and made to look like jokes. Problem with the Authority from WWE.
What a treat for us cutteeeeeeeerrrrrrr-fans. First I was scared when Brian just briefly mentioned the first diamond cutter but then we got a sudden KANNNNYOOOOOONNNN CUTTTTEEEEEERRRRR followed by a late DIAMMMMOOOOOONNDDDDDD CUTTTEEEEEERRRRR (shoulders back, chest front). Always brings a smile to my face.
@@Doc_Valparaiso Which, coincidentally, is why I thought he looked decent in a suit as the weasely commissioner of WCW. I think that as a heel authority figure he could have been something.
I can't lie, I'm loving these reviews of wild 2001 WCW ppv's with weird names. I was done with WCW after the nwo 2000 became a "faction" and never saw any of this footage. Also that DDP Max headroom clip almost made my head explode. Great job Brian!! 💪
WCW's core issue throughout its existence was always ALWAYS having the heels dominate their programs and rarely if ever giving the Faces a big win against them. Four Horsemen, Vader, NWO (All versions) and even on its last days with this Magnificent Seven. All it did was condition audiences to never really expect the heels to ever get theirs making a big "what is the point?" behind all of it.
WCW Had Plans For The NWO To Get Fully Comeuppance In 1999 But Injuries To NWO Top Stars Happened. And There Were Plans For The Magnificent Seven Storyline To Continue With Top Stars Scott Steiner Hurt Returning To Feud With The Magnificent Seven And A Wrar Games Match. Vader Didn’t Dominate Hulk Higan. The Dungeon Of Doom Didn’t Always Dominate. Raven’s Flock Didn’t Always Dominate. The New Blood Didn’t Always Dominate. What If Karma Happened To The Four Horsemen By Being Jumped By NWO.
From what I looked up about Ms Jones, she was a Nitro Girl called "Chameleon". Retired in 2001 and since tried acting and stunt work including doing stunts in Will Smith's "I Am Legend"
You can’t convince Nia Jax wasn’t given the command to drive Kairi Sane out of the business. Vince views her as an attack dog against women not in good standing with the company,
@@thatguyfromak5190 But why would they be down on Kairi? (Plus, even if true, sooner or later Nia will legit get taken out by someone scared of being hurt. I'm surprised no one done it now)
Wrestling With Wregret- To this day, I still laugh at what Brian Zane said around 23:46-23:49 when it came to Diamond Dallas Page delivering 'The Diamond Cutter'. Too funny!... It was hilarious when this episode was first posted onto RU-vid & in my opinion, it still is, today.
Glad to see I was a reason why this trilogy of WCW PPV reviews came to fruition! I guess maybe nostalgia blinded my memory of the opening cruiserweight match. I totally forgot how much of a botchfest that match was LOL.
And now to continue WCW's tradition of wrestlers pulling double duty, even while they're on their way out. Booker T at SuperBrawl VIII, Disco Inferno at Halloween Havoc 1998, Billy Kidman at Starrcade 1998, Booker T and Jeff Jarrett at Bash at the Beach 2000, and now DDP at Superbrawl Revenge.
Nice work on using WCW NWO Revenge on the thumbnail. For half a second I actually thought you might have been talking about the video game, lol. It was my first one for N64 and I'll always hold a special place in my heart for it. Me and my friends played that game for at least a couple years
I'll never not appreciate a custom commercial. Sure you're shilling something my way, but at least you're making it fun to watch you do it and making me far more likely to buy the gimmick, instead of hating it. Nicely done, Z-man!
5:19 apparently this was a shoot right here. Something about tensions brewing between these two and it started spilling into the match so they had to calm back down

5:56 got my tattoo from Shannon Moore. In pinehurst at a place called gaschamber. Dude had tons of pics and told awesome stories about the hardy boyz. He also did my chest piece for 120, tipped him 75 (which is cheap, but he did solid work) because it was for my sister that died in a car accident, great dude ❤ 16:12 dude if wwf would have packaged Luger and buff together they may have had success with them both 😂
I'm super familiar with the beginning of TNA but not so much with the end of WCW. Interesting to see the cross over. Even stranger is to see the young WCW guys that were in the Invasion angle actually appearing on WCW programming.
The comments telling you that WWE edited out the Sid injury from the PPV are lying. You can even check out sites like DDTDigest (an excellent archive that covered WCW tv shows and PPVs back when they originally aired) confirm that on the original PPV broadcast they missed the Sid injury because they cut to Flair and the mystery man getting out of their limo and when they returned to the match Sid was down and the reviewer didn't know what happened. The next night on Nitro was the first time they showed what happened
It wasn't the intention but honestly you could argue The Magnificent Seven was the most successful heel stable of all time because they got everything they wanted and no comeuppance because of the buy out lol
The network never edited Sids leg break. I recorded the original ppv when it happened, and it happened when the camera cut to the back to show the mystery man. No one saw the actual injury happen until nitro the next night.
The ending would have made more sense with The Cat coming out as the new Commissioner and changing the rules against Flairs rules and having him later knocking out Flair and helping Nash win the title.
Poor Kanyon. Everyone knows Dreamer as the Innovator of Violence, but Kanyon was the Innovator of Offense by creating so many new moves in pro wrestling. R.I.P. Kris Kanyon.
