One of the most beutiful belts in wwe history. Its unfortunate that it got retired. Honestly it looks so much greater than the current universal and wwe championship belts.
Actually they look ok, but It wouldn't hurt to add more details to them, I mean, is too simple, more designs, but it actually save the WWE money on making repkicas
+Irfan Aziz: Whatever version - which WWE itself sees no real difference in, sparing the video games including both the WCW and World belts - the "Big Gold" WCW aka World Heavyweight Championship was given to the title's original holder, Ric Flair, much like how WWE gave the Hardcore Championship to Mick Foley when they retired it and gave the non-broken version of the Women's Championship to Trish Stratus when she did a brief return (after retiring from active competition as champion) as both Diva of the Decade and a Hall of Famer.
The reason I liked to the original WCW Big Gold was because it didn't have any brand on it. The title felt like it was bigger than a wrestling company.
Actually it did it was originally the NWA world's title first held by Ric Flair only after WCW left the NWA did it become the WCW international championship then it was later unified with the WCW world title in a match between Sting and Flair
Cordovan brown technically. It turned black over the years from all the dirt, blood, sweat, baby oil and alcohol discoloring the leather, until it was replaced in late 1999 with a new black strap. After Conrad Thompson got a hold of the belt, the original strap was tracked down and the plates were placed back onto the old strap, which was cleaned up to restore some of that brown color.
That's a tough one but I'm guna go with my TNA world title, just the fact that its 4mm plates, real leather, dual plated and all the detail they have put into it is just amazing.
Yes and no, Yes it made a lot of wrestlers not have a main goal as WWE would never put the ONLY world title on them that they had, No because it adds prestige if there is only a single world title. It was rendered pointless when they brought in the Universal title though
this video help me on my search for a replica belt. i was wondering the differences there were besides the longer side plates and flushed out design. i was leaning towards the wcw title and this video solidified my decision. thank you
another great...I love both versions of the BG....I love the original and I really like the changes WWE made to its version as well--love how the strap gets smaller the further down you go
I never would have thought both belts had so many differences. Always thought they were the same, only difference was the WWE logo. Great job on making this video.
The RV2 belt seems to look a little darker in similar lighting, which I really like. I also like the bigger rubies, and frankly the top of the WCW one seems so empty without a logo. Thanks for the comparrison : )
@Hazardf5 thanks homie! Ordered my deluxe replica from figures yesterday....WCW no branded version FTW! I like the WWE version but I like to keep it original and no branding. The WCW/NWA version had so much more and better memories too. Thanks again and your videos rock bro!
Dude I was waiting for you to black spray paint the nwo logo on the wcw title for complete accuracy since hogan had the belt longer then anyone else! Still, awesome video!
Where did you buy the wcw version? And was it flat or curved when you bought it? If it was flat, how did you curve it. Awesome comparison analysis. Great job.
The WWE Big Gold version 2 (which is the one in the video) was introduced a few weeks before Wrestlemania 19. The one your thinking of was the version 1 without the WWE logo on it and flatter side plates. Similar in design but just slight differences.
Have you taken a look at the ones that are made from the Fundu belts? I was going to buy one of the two last night but couldn't make a decision and now that I've witness the fundu belts makes it harder.
Again another well done video. The more I see the WWE WHC the more I like it. Once I snap up a few other belts, mainly the WWF Winged Eagle, I do plan on trying out the Ultra Deluxe belts by ordering the WHC.
Great comparison video...Quick question: Do you know if the dimensions of the nameplates are the same on both belts? Just wondering if nameplates can be interchange should I get both.
@Hazardf5 Thanks for the fast response. Couldn't find a real answer anywhere. (hurry up with the new Championship video, btw. Killing your fans to wait.)
Any idea where I can find this version of the WWE style big gold (Orton nameplate one)? I really like the detail and curve but they don’t make them on the shop like they used to
@HazardF5 when The Rock held the WCW Title did he have a blank nameplate on his belt or gold lettering? I tried to look at videos on RU-vid but I can't quite make it out? Also did the WCW nameplate have gold lettering as standard and the WWE big gold have black lettering?
@Hazardf5 I love that belt too. It's my faourite WWE/WWF belt, with Big Eagle a close second and the Undisputed title a close third. I think it's the fact that whenever I see the WCW Big Gold, it reminds me of the pre-WCW era when the likes of Harley Race, Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes were in their prime. I know the NWA title wasn't this design during their reigns (except for Flair, and possibly Rhodes), but it just gives that sense of tradition that no other belt does.
Hazardf5 can I get your opinion on something. If someone is 6 ft 1 in weights 150 lbs but love a big championship belt over the smaller belts what would you recommend
Hi Hazard can you share your opinions on a WWE Big Gold from WWE Shop? It would be my first Replica ever! I just wanna know if it's worth the amount of money that WWE Shop is charging?
alot of people dont know that the bg that is on sd right now is the v3 because the original v2 had a 2 by 5 on each side and the shell design is under the centre plate and on the v3 the shell design is over the centre plate so they replaced the strap and put the 2 by 8 on the left side so with tose changes that makes the v3
Hey man, I've got my first belt coming (WCW big gold) and it needs a new strap desperately. Where did you get your replacement strap and how much did it cost? (I live in the UK by the way!)
@charliee118 incorrect, the all gold cast wcw title used in 2001 did have a curve in it, that was actually larger than the curve the original big gold had. It was curved to look more authentic. Ruined? Hardly. This has also since been replaced with this. Real Crumrine WCW / NWA Big Gold World Heavyweight Championship Title Belt
Are the nameplates on both of the title belts the same size and are they both detachable so that you can buy a customizable engraved nameplate from WWE Shop which you can then attach to either title belt?
Hey haz. Just wanted to know 2 things. I wanna get the v2 big gold. What's the difference in the adult rather then the deluxe. I know the ultra has 4 mm thick plates. And how did you curve your v2 big gold? Or did you have ajsbelts do it?
The big gold always had a (VERY) slight curve. When the dual plated ric flair big gold debuted it had the slight curve, this belt was used from it's debut all the way up to the start of 2001, when Scott steiner was champ he switched that big gold (the one with the famous bend in the top of it) out with the all gold version of the big gold he owned, which was later used in the WCW invasion and as the World title given to HHH, this belt had a far more distinctive curve that the ric flair one
How do you do this its amazing like do you buy the belts cheap or were do you buy them and the leather to re-leather I would love to know how to do this.
Dear Hazardf5, I would like to ask you, that some of the WWE big gold adult replica belt that I saw on ebay the leather on the back of it are red and some are black. But when I take a look at WWE.com the replica belt the leather at the back is red. So if I wanted to buy the replica belt should I only buy the red leather one?
u make great detail belt videos keep up the good work and i agree i would choose the wcw world belt over the wwe one i hate the wwe symbol on top of the belt
Hey Hazardf5, How hard was it to curve the WWE World heavyweight belt? You have mentioned before to be careful doing it as the globe and crown may possibly pop out?
@biggiesmaus if it's the original 98-99 line you cannot take the plates off, they are attached to the bubies, which is why a 99 edition of the wcw replica cannot be re-leathered
were did you get your belts from and I'm thinking of purchasing both WCW Big Gold and the WWE Raw V2 World Heavyweight Championship but which one is better to have cuz both belts wonderful
@Daredevil666Punisher no, the wcw big gold was used as the "world heavyweight title" until it was replaced with the wwe big gold(with the wwe logo at the top) at WM19
BITER!!! LMAO Nah i'm kiddin'.. Good Vid man. Nice Orton Nameplate too. btw, yea Jmar's wwe version big gold is a smaller main plate & longer side plates without a thick rope border on the belt.. Flair's original NWA/WCW big gold had a much bigger main plate smaller sideplates with the nice rope border. But that belt was completely different than traditional belts,2TONE - SOLID silver & gold plated. Booker T's "Alliance" big gold was Steiner's all gold Copy of the original big gold.
@juicyness89147 the plates were 1mm thick, were pron to discolouring and if the jewels fall off you couldn't replace them because they worked in tangent with the screws which means it couldn't be re-leathered
@Hazardf5 they are still there?? not as visible as before though. on your belt they POP to the eye farly easy, now they dont, so much i cant even notice them lol
@zombee1979 the alliance version, those are clear coated so finger prints don't stick on them and they don't get discoloured but the 1999 ones do. They are coming along but it's a delicate process, debuting Summer 2012
Always thought the WCW belt was better than WWF belt which is why the WWE probably kept the WCW belt over the WWE belt with the blue world in the middle
When you ordered the WWE big gold belt, you told them you wanted a curve or did you say you wanted a "deeper" curve on the main plate? Cause I am planning on ordering it soon and I want to know the correct way to tell them cause I want the main plate curved like yours & I don't want them to go overboard
@skull902 nah not being rude, I have never seen the raw the weeks before Mania, but I know HHH had the WWE BG during an interview that took place days before mania
There’s actually 3 different versions. But a total of 5 different versions. The first one was introduced back in Jim Crockett’s promotion when Ric Flair first introduced the big gold belt the leather was maroon not black. The second big gold belt was when it was re-designed a years after Ric Flair came back to the company. Making it more defined and changing the strap color to black. Then when WWE re-introduced it after the invasion angle ended and awarded it to triple H that was their first design of the world heavyweight title which you have shown in the video however after CM punk‘s first title run ended when Chris Jericho won it they made it smaller. And then when Christian won the title at money in the bank against Randy Orton the SmackDown following money in the bank PPB they introduced a new world title with black strap on the front however it had red maroon on the back of it.
Check out my history of the Big Gold for a full breakdown. There was only one Dual plated crumrine used from it's debut with Flair until WCW in 2001 (the brown strap turned black due to baby oil, dirt, beer, sweat etc) which was then replaced by Steiner with an all gold cast copy. There's also a detailing of it in the BIg Gold belt book
So is the WCW belt in this video the one that Eric Bishoff brought back the night in 02 and awarded to HHH? I'm a belt noob so please help cause WCW version always looked sexier and the WHC started to looked smaller around 08-09.
