The WD-40 is a extremely effective baetis/midge emerger pattern. With only a few materials this fly will make trout go crazy. This is a guide fly that if I can tie it so can you. So grab some materials and tie some up.
Hook: TMC 2488 size 18
Thread: Semperfli 12/0 Wood Duck
Tail: Mallard Flank dyed Wood Duck
Body: Semperfli 12/0 Wood Duck

Thanks for the tutorial. I honestly like it in whatever color the fish are keying on that day. I usually carry olive, wood duck, and black/white.

Nice tie. This Mark Engler pattern is my favorite tailwater nymph. I like it in olive. Black and white is also killer. Cheers

I have a super fast way to tie these! Lay down a thread base, measure a full hook length woodduck flank tail and tie it in facing the eye behind the eye, dub the thorax, pull the woodduck fibers back, fix them to the hook, all the way to the bend. Smooth out the abdomen and whip finish. Done. Add head cement if you like. Great on small sizes because it keeps the eye clear
