What separates this from your other silicone spray?

I used WD 40 silicone spray on my window channels on my 2005 BMW 325i after seeing a tutorial on RU-vid that said to spray WD 40 silicone spray directly into the window channels using the red spray tube . Immediately my left rear window stopped working and my other windows started making that God awful rubber against glass squealing which thankfully went away on it's own without any further lubrication within a day or two, but my rear window still ceases to work and now I'm looking at a $200 - $250 charge ( just for parts !) to replace the window motor and regulator neither of which I was having any problem with. I only sprayed the four windows as the front passenger window was a little slow and is working somewhat better, but needless to say I am not a " happy camper" having to replace my motor and regulator on the rear window I've never had any trouble with. Also the WD 40 silicone spray was $10 and the same size can of CRC silicone spray was only $3. Won't be taking the same chance using WD 40 silicone spray again !

Are you sure you didn't use the regular WD40 that one has the red tube the WD40 Specialist Silicone has a yellow tube. I was told not to use the regularWD40.

@@erikah2367 Erika, I'm absolutely sure I used the WD 40 Silicone Spray. I've used the regular WD 40 for other things for years - trust me I know the difference. The can I used was clearly marked WD 40 Silicone Spray and came with a red spray tube. I still have the can and red spray tube and am looking at it right now and there is no mistaking I used the WD 40 Silicone Spray as suggested by the RU-vid video put on by the"BMW Doctor ", I believe he is a chap from the UK , who usually gives advice that is dependable. I don't know what happened in this case, but the results were totally undesirable, hence that's why I purchased a can of CRC silicone spray at Walmart (which didn't even offer WD 40 Silicone Spray @ $10.00, but did offer the CRC silicone spray @ $3.00 for the same size. I'm 66 and have worked on cars and used WD 40 products and CRC products since I started working at my father's service station when I was 14, and continue to work in the automotive industry. Would you like a picture of the WD 40 Silicone Spray can and spray tube ? Be glad to send it.

@@erikah2367 I just wanted to share my expensive lesson. In the YouYube tutorial , Dean, "The BMW Doctor" did warn against not using regular WD 40and making sure to buy the Silicone version, so my suggestion would be to try it only on one window first - I mean I did it twice on all four windows - I mean it certainly sounded harmless and logical, but one thing I should have considered was the age of my car and the fact I'm finding out more and more that as much as I love this car it has the worst quality of rubber and plastics used throughout the car - interior, exterior, even major parts of the internal and external parts of the engine - all of which are pretty expensive to replace so it's extra aggravating to try and perform preventive maintenance and in doing so causing yourself expensive repairs. I guess I should have explained this in my original comment as I've found apparently all models of BMW's seem to eat their power window motrors and regulators like candy. Maybe I should convert to good old manual roll ups ( and a 5 speed manual while I'm at it ! ) Didn't have much of a choice though - a tree fell on my last car in April and crushed it and this was the only car on the lot I could afford the down payment. Anyway, pleasure chatting with you ! Good luck on those windows!

Alfred Kane Yikes! A tree fell on your last car, wow! I know the older Mercedes also have problems with their window motors. Well I just picked up the Blaster silicone and I can report so far it is working great! Thanks again for the heads up. Erika

How is this safe to rubber if it has almost no silicone and is mainly petroleum solvent? The petroleum takes ages to evaporate and in closed systems I doubt it even evaporates. And ut doesnt have enough silicone to be lubricant afternthe solvent evaporates anyways. Ive sprayed this in a tray and there were only a few tiny silicone particles in there

Is this a liquid silicon? If not, do you make one?

Is it electric conductive? I have to put it into my electronic throttle pedal...so I have to lube it and at the same time allow metal electronic contacts to remain in touch.

You are looking for lithium grease which is not conductive.

@dejo095
@dejo095 4 года назад
@@jinxed_jinxed_3443 no, you should not use copper grease on slide pins. First copper paste or spray is not lubricant but antisieze, ans second grease for slide pins must be silicone based otherwise it will eat your rubber boot
