I like buying those WD External drives in pairs, one as a primary drive, and the second as a backup. I used to use fancy RAID setups, but making a simple clone back up works best for me.
yeah it's a single mechanical drive so not great for quick, small files with lots of transfers but i'm actually just looking to buy one to backup a SSD based raidz nas. seems like a great value for that since it's so large.
If your buying this to couple with a Mac running a newer MacOS, be sure to format the drive to a Mac compatible format like APFS. The Windows NTFS will not work. You won’t be able to write to it.
