America is still a great & generous country to those of goodwill. And immigrants such as Y & R are great examples of this nation's warm embrace and generosity. They have said so themselves. The winner, Ricardo(originally Italian & then US citizen...Yulia(originally Russian and then US citizen) couple won over Michael/Joanna couple...at WDC World Championship Latin 2011 at Moscow...
agree . the half hearted attempt to clap for the winners was so cold. also noticed the looks from losing contestants made me think, I m so glad I don t have to spend time with these people. mean spirited springs to mind. such a shame.they re all wonderful dancers but show no grace off the floor.
I am so happy that Riccardo and Yulia won. They deserve it! If anyone knows what real dancing is then they would appreciate that Yulia and Riccardo won. Michael and Joanna are so great but to say that they didn't deserve it isnt right. They are beyond talented dancers! Next step- winning Blackpool :)
@Imran9010: Yes, 2010, last October. I don't know why the 2011 championship was held so early in the year, just 6-months since the last. On the WDC web page the 2012 championship will be held Dec 2012. Holding the championships at the end of each year makes more sense.
@obrkyl001 the thing about judging is that the places in any competition can change easily depending on who is judging, each judge prefers a certain style, and a judges preferences are subject to change, therefore at this level it is usually just a matter of if the judging panel at the event as a whole prefers your style to another couple's. R&Y got that twice, M&J got it lots of times before and at the UK Open

@IX19UT8O my experience with these debates tells me that they usually go around in circles because people like what they like, similar debates among judges often go the same way because the judges also like what they like, that is why you try to get a wide cross section of judges form different background with different dance styles so the . If all M&J supporters where judging they prob would have won, same for if all oxana and franco supporters were judging.
Yulia and Riccardo rude as hell. Get on podium and turn to the other couple away from leunis and malitowski. She's too tall Yulia to be picked up or have signature moves like leunis.
I agree. only the 3rd place winners look extremely happy and grateful to be there. J & M placed their 2nd place cup on the floor, instead of holding it, which declines their acceptance as 2nd place winners - so the rudeness starts with them. And as R & Y approach the podium , J & M completely ignored them, did not offer to congratulate them at all. yet, at the 2009 asian competition, where J & M won, Yulia and Riccardo were complimentary to them, applauded them, and smiled at them. J & M were just not able to continue winning when you don't look fresh, have great choreography like Y & R, and put passion into every single solitary move that Yulia does!
@IX19UT8O this is not an R&Y video , the title says "Announcement of results" and i enjoy their dancing as alot of my comments on their videos have said. None of the comments i have left on any of these videos have been "nasty" however you seem intent on attacking me personally for sharing my opinion. Not once have i attacked your character because i respect that you have an opinion, although contrary to mine.
@DancesportReviews: Can't read, I already posted M&J won world in 2008 and 2009, not around 3 years, or lots of times before. There are lots of places you can verify it, the WDC web page for one. Where did I post that R&Y's double win nullified M&J's successes? Instead you're nullifyingy R&Y wins by claiming judges are bias in favor of particular couples. If that's the case then M&J did not deserve any of their wins either. Ridiculous. Do me a big big favor STFU.
@obrkyl001 so its not really an issue of who deserves it, because R&Y fans will always think the are undefeatable same goes for M&J fans, yes R&Y have worked hard to get where they are but so have M&J, that is why both have the potential to win any championship, just depends on who is judging. The only thing as a competitor you can do is work hard and do what you love to do. I'll ignore the comment about Joanna spinning and not being a good latin dancer.
What truly annoys me on these kinds of videos is that people feel the need to blame. People are so sad that they even blame the location of the World Championships? Really?!? Do you realise that adjudicators are chosen from around the WORLD!? Seriously now. Y&R supporters have been gracefully accepting the fact that M&J have been beating Y&R even when (sometimes) they didn't deserve to. Give Yulia and Riccardo their due credit. They've worked hard to be where they are
@IX19UT8O people will always have their opinions as to who deserved the title, even some of the judges at this event would probably say they thought M&J should've got the title as is reflected in their marks for M&J. So debate is inevitable. Where exactly did i say that Y&R did not deserve the title...and if i did, that would be my opinion same as it is @obrkyl001 opinion that they deserved it. How else would Y&R have convince the majority to give them the best places in each dance....?
@IX19UT8O i think many people on these discussions do not consider that if Y&R and M&J danced the exact same way for a different judgeing panel the results could have been different. I am a M&J fan but that does not mean that i won't acknowledge when the judges do not agree with me. The reason i commented as i did is because people seem to think it is cut and dry and often times it is more determined by what the judges are liking on the day. so Y&R got it right this time good for them.
@DancesportReviews of course the judges are bias otherwise all of the judges would give the exact same marks to the same couples all the time, the reason they can be judges is because they have danced an developed preferences that is the basis of judging ....so no i won't be doing you any favors. Btw you are the one who started talking about word championship wins, when i commented i was talking about all the comps as i continue to reference, so yes you clearly can't read, i'm so sorry for you
before this when last has Franco danced a competition in Russia?.....the last major one in Russia before this i think was the European open, that is a major title and Franco didn't dance that
@IX19UT8O the exact same way that Y&R fans want people to acknowledge when Y&R win, M&J fans want people to acknowledge when M&J win. so the comment about "even when the didn't deserve to" by obrky001 is what prompted my comment.
@IX19UT8O and yes M&J only lost to Y&R twice, they were reigning undefeated for around 3 years hence "lots of times before" Y&R winning twice does not nullify M&J past successes
It seems to me the second place couple are not happy with the result. They do not congratulate Yulia and Ricardo or acknowledge them in any way. Especially the man. He really looks irritated. R and Y are simply the best.
Michael & Joanna came back 2 win 2 yrs in a row after Ricardo & Yulia beat them this one yr in 2011 ... I think there was tension between them , I wish the camera man would have stay on 1st & 2nd place couple 2 see them congratulate each other as #3 walked 2 the podium

And no, I am not saying that M&J have NEVER deserved to win. They most definitely have had their deserving wins. In fact for a long time they've been better than Y&R. Just not anymore. Just because Joanna can spin a million times without getting dizzy does not make her a good LATIN dancer. I personally believe Franco should've been 3rd but I'm glad people are seeing that dancesport is about how much work you're putting in. I hope this is the WDC trying to be fair instead of political.
@@EchoMBG There were obviously issues between these two couples before their names/places were called. The tension between them is palpable even through a video....

@killickkarttunen saw the whole thing, just didn't think they did that bad, it could be because they where judging them different at this WDC than other ones. All the other comps they do they're 3rd or at the WDC in Germany they get 2nd in Samba and 3rd in all dances then UK open 3rd it's been that way for a while, for good reason, then in Russia they get 4th, and lose to a Russian couple. I'm glad for Sergey and Melia but I don't agree with Franco's placement.
Sergey and Melia only placed third because of the location of the competition. They in no way deserved third place and should have placed last because, while Sergey is a gifted dancer, Melia is not a skilled dancer at all. She is a "privileged" dancer -- period.

So unfair. Michal Malitowski & Joanna Leunis have been champions of all times! Their technique, their artism, their innovation to the world of dance have changed the way latin-american performances appear. Proffessionals that cannot be beaten for a long time. How did this happen?
Riccardo and Yulia just retired as the 10 time Latin Professional World Champions, true masters of dance. They defeated M&J because they were too one dimensional, there’s more to dancing than just being able to spin very fast, especially as they didn’t develop the rest of their dancing relying on just the one move over and over again. Whereas R&Y changed their routines all the time, always progressing, a perfect example is the evolution of their paso doble, truly brilliant each time.
@DancesportReviews: I agree with @obrkyI001 but I will also ignore the part about Joanna's spinning and Latin dancing ability. All the competitors are the best in the world. R&Y won twice, period. There should be no debate as to who deserved it, the judges decided that. It is annoying and disingenuous for M&J supporters to post on R&Y videos that they do not deserve the win because, i.e., they are not as creative as M&J. Your comments add to that disingenuous by implying judges are fickle.

The difference, M&J began their partnership 2002, took them 6-years to win their first world title. R&Y began their partnership 2008, less than 2-years for their first world title. M&J have been very successful at the UK open just as R&Y have been very successful in other competitions. However, the cream is the world title. Give R&Y their due credit.

Everyone is talking about how Michael /Joanna look unhappy on the podium, U may not be happy either if U just lost the world Latin Championship ..They were the reigning champions & the goal is 2 go down in history books as undefeated . Michael & Joanna came back & beat Ricardo & Yulia 2 yrs in a row after this in 2011 .... In all fair , the camera man pulls away from M/J R/Y as #3 walked 2 the podium , I'm sure there was some acknowledgment between the couples....
Nope. Yulia and Riccardo still won world championships where michael and joanna competed that were in 2012 and 2013. They did not participate on another world championships after that. However, in UK-based events they keep on beating yulia and riccardo.
The couple who came second were not happy campers. Geez they could have congratulated the winners like the other couple who came third did ... poor sportsmanship.
This was caused by the downright rudnes of the winners, who kissed with the 3rd place pair but just ignored the 2nd pair, turning back on them. I am shocked by THEIR behaviour.
@DancesportReviews: I don't care if M&J fans ever acknowlege R&Y wins, base on your comments that's not going to happen. What would be nice, stop posting nasty comments on R&Y's RU-vid videos. M&J are awesome dancers in their own right with many successes including two world titles. They earned it but I'm still not a fan, and because of that I stay away from their videos. To do otherwise & post insincere comments about their dancing and wins would be disrespectful to them and their fans.
