Together with the WDR Big Band Richard Bona performs "African Songs & Tales" under the musical direction of Vince Mendoza at the 36th Leverkusener Jazzfestival. Another guest Rhani Krija is on percussions. Produced in Leverkusen Forum (2015).
Richard Bona does not only play the e-bass in a harmonic and hypnotic way , but also his singing in the language of Douala is one of his famous brand-label.

@@cedricmonbaron734 c'est rigolo parce que c'est exactement le même titre qui a retenu mon attention et plus particulièrement le moment où il chante les notes qu'il joue (ou l'inverse...!) et la reprise de l'orchestre, c'est phénoménal !! Et joyeux !! Je m'intéresse aux vidéos de basses et de bassistes et trop souvent les musiciens sont très fort techniquement mais tellement vides d'émotions que c'en est pénible. Ici la technique est sous entendue, déjà acquise et ce n'est plus le propos, et cela laisse la place à l'émotion, à la joie, au plaisir de jouer et de partager avec les autres musiciens et bien sûr le public !

Je trouve vraiment cette intro sublime et l'émotion et toute son âme nous parvient à chaque note de manière si intense, pure et sans filtre. Je suis entièrement d'accord qu'ici il n'est plus question de technique mais juste de transmettre cette émotion brute et Dieu sait si ça fonctionne ! In my opinion, there is absolutely no doubt that the WDR Big Band is a superb and classy band of the highest order. The band consistently delivers a wonderful and entertaining experience. All the musicians are dedicated and accomplished and evidently know their craft. The band has performed with the likes of Maceo Parker, Take Six, Joe Zawinul, Bill Evans, Roy Hargrove, Steps Ahead, and The Yellowjackets. I have no hesitation in recommending that one watch ALL the WDR Big Band videos available on You Tube. It will be time very well spent.

As a matter of fact, Richard played and recorded with Joe Zawinul in the ZAWINUL SYNDICATE, which Joe formed in 1988 after Weather Report disbanded in 1986.

This is exquisite big band jazz. Richard is a virtuoso of the 2 instruments he plays, bass and vocals. He and the band fit like hands and gloves!! 100/100!!! Thanks 🙏🏾

Bona was initially a lead guitar player in his native Cameroun. That makes it three instruments that he plays well. Perhaps not at the same time

C"est l"un des meilleurs Big Band au monde. J"ai la chance d"habiter la ville de Cologne oü ce Big Band reside. Vince Mendoza, le directeur musical est un bijou.
