In this episode Joe had the privilege of connecting with and having a conversation with Chris 'Just another Bro' Kumeroa.
A former New Zealand Special Air Service Operator and Current Global Risk Consulting Director. Chris' desire and commitment to serving others stems from a strong sense of family, responsibility, example and hardwork.
Chris has a clear and apparent passion for people and helping them to the best of his ability. Leveraging his knowledge, skills and expertise gained at the coal-face of some of the most arduous and complex environments in the world, he finds ways to create an environment designed to enable people to utilise their skills with confidence, while providing opportunity for growth and personal development.
During this conversation we delve into a bit of Chris' upbringing and his journey into the NZDF at 17years of age. He talks about his decision to join the NZSAS at 19years old and how he enjoyed the selection process and cycle of training.
Chris speaks about his decision to leave the NZSAS after 4years to pursue a rugby dream. He also talks about striving to create and develop a culture and mindset amongst some young players coming through and the successes they noticed they were having as a result. Chris speaks about the gym he started and sold, meeting his future wife and the rock she is and has been for him and their family.
He openly speaks about the need to work on ourselves, the boards he feels privileged to be a part of and his ongoing intentions to serve people through various means and businesses - Plus so much more...
We invite you to tune in to this conversation and listen to Chris share some very insightful and powerful messages which are sure to resonate with alot of people regardless of their profession, experience and/or aspirations.
Thank you Chris for your service / continued service, and for taking the time to share a bit about yourself. We know and appreciate that it's not a common thing for people like yourself who have served in these types of units, which makes us even more grateful that you would take the time to come on our podcast in the hopes of helping someone else out there who might need to hear what you have to say.
Cheers Bro1

Tena koe Joe, great podcast. You are working like a machine pumping these out! They breed them tough up the Whanganui valley. I really admire and respect the way the Māori culture look after the most vulnerable in their society and look after others in general. Ngā mihi Dave

That's a crack up story about Walshy he was ex 2/1 and that is exactly the kind of guy he was, just totally out there, not the sharpest knife in the drawer but he was a good soldier. He was the kind of guy that would drink hard all day and night and at some stage fall asleep under the table wake up and carry on and then at 6 in the morning you would see him running down the road going for a 10km run with a sandbag. One time He had just got back from Ardmore and was in the bar with his Dacrons the orderly sergeant came in and said you can't be in here with dacrons so he stripped down naked and carried on drinking ..... sadly he passed away in Perth in the early 2000s.

Kia Ora Joe, best point of contact maybe through the Whangarei RSA, otherwise I can drop your name next time I see him at the gym. Ironically he lives not to far from me.

@@gregradovanovich1625 Feel free to mention to him about the podcast. Dropping my name to him won't help as he'll have no idea who I am 😂 and I'll try the Whangarei RSA route. Thank you mate. Apologies for the delay in replying. We're in the middle of packing up and moving down to Wellington.

Another great podcast Joe and thanks to Chris for sharing his story and background. I waiting for the Loaded Hog to get a mention where I'm sure negotiation skills were honed keeping out the riff raff. Certainly not an average guy Chris. High expectations and grumpiness is more about wanting the best or doing your best. Being average is existing below the line of unrealised potential. These stories are more about us being the same or coming from similar backgrounds. The key theme and success stories shared is more about achieving more than the stereotype that is expected of us. We need to celebrate more of these successes and these podcasts is opening the curtains for the public to look into mindsets and traits of those who are far beyond of being average. Keep them coming and more locals please. 😎

Love your insights and comment here Steve - thank you brother. Agreed! Re: the locals - bloody trying mate, but they're quite hardwork currently. I did in all honesty expect that though - so continuing to reach out, annoy and harass (nicely) lol. Appreciate you brother 💯 🙏
