WDW Touring 304: Why You Should Spend A Full Day At Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom is frequently considered a half-day park by Walt Disney World visitors. And it can be a great half-day park if you just want to do standby queues and then hop to another park where you've done Genie+ stacking, for example.
But just doing standby queues at Animal Kingdom means that you miss so much of what this park has to offer! This week we cover how to spend a full day at Animal Kingdom. Yes, you'll avoid big lines, but you'll also get a better feel for the live entertainment offered in this park (rated the best out of any WDW park) and for all of the animals and learning that you can do here too.

Animal Kingdom is definitely a full day park for me. When we were there in May, we got to the park early (30 minutes before opening) and we saw a rocket vapor trail. It was cool and unexpected.

Thanks for this Becky! Since you asked about Epcot ...we have a half day next month on a Sunday. Probably arrive by 1pm. We have been before and have 2 little kids.

Thank you for this informative and helpful video. It would be nice to see an early entry/RD and a late arrival, ride focused strategy for EPCOT. Most of the plans are focused on foods, it is diffucult to find non-food related content. Thanks in advance.

We may or may not be one of the last people to see kite tails when we’re there on the 27th! We’re there on the 22nd, might get it out the way then. I love AK, and it’s our sons favourite park, not just for rides, but all the different things to see and do.

I do wish they would keep Animal Kingdom open a little later - some of our favorite times were being there late with all the entertainment going on, grabbing an adult beverage or two and just exploring and relaxing. Hopefully they can (eventually) bring back a night time show there RIP Rivers of Light

I'd personally choose Yak and Yeti since at Tusker House you're paying a premium for character dining. Unless you really want to see characters during your meal, Yak and Yeti is the better value.

This was an excellent video and really highlighted all that is offered at the park. Question would be (for this or other videos of the type) is how having Genie+/$Ill would alter your strategy. Maybe too much for one video so perhaps a "part b" for each could be how you would adjust the plans if you have Genie+/$ILL?

I personally feel like, especially with a full day at Animal Kingdom, you should explore it. It's nice to see the veterinarian services "behind the scenes" at the very least.

This plan was meant for a medium-crowd day. On higher-crowd days you probably wouldn't make it to everything on this list.

Hi If you are doing Epcot next can you do a touring plan for Park hopping to Epcot at 2 and doing the rides in future world and walking through the world showcase??? btw I have loved this series they give so much good information

Do you have any suggestion for carrying around your animation drawing for the rest of the day without getting it all wrinkled up?

I am admittedly spoiled by having a stroller in the parks. We can roll it up and stick it in the bottom of the stroller. Alternatively, ask for a bag, roll, put in the bag, and then carry the bag or loop it on a backpack or whatever else you're carrying for the day.
