Hi Pete, when you were out with the cows you made me think of a verse in Psalms 46: "Be still, and know that I am God;" Thank you for your videos, I enjoy them!

Pete, your channel is so relatable to my farm life when my grandfather was alive. We sat under the old shed every evening and spent the same type of quality time together after chores were done. Most evenings were quiet and calming and educational. More kids need to sit with their grandparents in the evenings. You will always remember those days. Thanks and have a good day sir!

You know there is a lot to say for the old adage "The Deafening sounds of Silence". actually it is hard to come by, I've been on Mountain tops, deep in the forest's hunting, far out on a lake fishing, and yet you can still hear the sounds of man, a chain saw barking, the sound of a horn, the running of an motor, truck, tractor, or any vehicle of sorts. sometimes it's impossible to not hear man, but every now and then, they all stop at the same time, and for a brief moment, you hear it!. "The Deafening sounds of Silence"! nothing the hiss of the air, you can even smell it, crisp, clean, if only we could isolate that space and time for all time. we would be a less hostile race of people, and get along far far better. thanks Pete. for your moment in the pasture, with your "kids"/pets. really. and best of all thanks for taking the time to share. While it’s likely more complex, I feel like one of the reasons for the lack of “reasonable tolerance” between people is directly related to the fact that such a large population of people aren’t “rural” anymore. Take heart Pete, there’s still a lot of us left. You have found your happy place! I too wish that tolerance for one and other would lessen the divide but I’m not sure how soon that’s going to happen. Being someone who runs from meeting to meeting, the idea of sitting and petting and spending time with cattle sounds so comforting and relaxing..

I tell people all the time, just because I’m alone doesn’t mean I’m lonely. When I get stressed I walk out and sit in my neighbor’s strawberry fields and relax and just be quiet. I’m a night owl so I work all night and while in the middle of those fields I get to look at the stars. I’m very lucky to be doing what I’m doing, I’m following my passion and it feels like I’ve landed where I should be. Pete is farming and I’m building car bodies from scratch. We all have our happiness. I hope y’all find yours.

Pete, those moments with you and the herd in the field by the grove were some of the most relaxing and renewing moments that I have had in a long time. Thank you-and thanks for the tips on grilling sausage. Have a good weekend!

I'm a 49 yr old grown man, and I'll tell you that when the day comes for Doc to go, I will not be happy it will be a sad day for me. Pete it was good to see Doc.

I think about this alot while sitting in the pasture watching my own cattle graze...Our ancestors lived pastoral lives in harmony with nature for thousands of years. Its in our blood, so to speak. Its only fairly recently that people started becoming modern city dwellers. Time with nature is something our souls need, to reconnect and recharge. Over time people have gotten away from the country for the "easy life" in the city, and I think theyve lost a part of themselves as well. Some time on the farm would do everyone some good. If nothing else than for some tranquility and peace of mind just for a day.

This brings back so many wonderful memories of walking in the fields behind where I grew up, enjoying all the wild flowers, chewing on a few pieces of clover or timothy grass, and laying down in the tall grass watching the clouds pass by...and imagining what shape there were in, the only sounds a distant cow mooing or a bird chirping. Not a care in the world. The innocence of youth. Oh well, break over...back to work and reality!

My grandmother was born and raised on a farm 120 years ago...she married abd moved to the big city...she always said, We don't live right! I remember visiting her brother who had inherited the family farm...Yup she was right! Farm living is right living!!!

The ability to live in a world that lets you take it in at a reasonable pace should be the desire for all. Listening to the breeze through the trees is one of my favorite things to ground me. Something with the power of wind interacting with the trees. Giving the cattle a good scratch and rub is some of the best therapy for me.

Sitting in a pasture with cows is very relaxing and enjoyable, admiring God's creations. That would definitely solve a lot of the worlds problems! Nice broom handle! Once when I was about 6 or 7 years old my cousin and I were playing around my grandpas bin wagon. The door was cracked and I thought I was skinny enough to slide down through it.. turned out not! I got stuck and my cousin ran into the house for grandpa, he came out and opened the door and I was free, haha. Thank you for your videos Pete!

Pete it is not the fence moving, equipment repairing, doing chores, etc. and everything else you DO that makes watching you that’s so enjoyable, even though that is fun to watch and a lot to learn. Your essence is all about improving life. If it wasn’t for your efforts (probably motivated by Love) the cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and even the living grass wouldn’t survive. You are a life grower. And the harvesting of the lives you grow provide sustenance for lives you have never met. Similar to the old saying that anyone can count the seeds in one apple, but only God can count the apples in one seed. You influence really never ends. Thanks for providing.

Is it just me or does the tone of his voice remind you of Mr. Rogers? Great channel I raise grass feed black angus with my dad. This year we butchered one of our on cows and it has been some of the best tasting beef I’ve ever ate.

In other words, when they have a large enough parcel of evidently happy and preferred grazing eats, they realize that they can slow down and “MOOve” at the happy pace they know they are allotted. I truly believe that even cattle have sussed out the different scenario game plans and say to themselves…”WOW”!!!!!! Perfect we have a whole big space…let’s just enjoy it at our complete leisure…it’s a God send!!!!!! Munch, slow munch, munch…hey kids, take a leisurely munch walk…no need to hurry…just ENJOY it all to the absolute fullest….it’s so amazing and beautiful…enjoy all, hurry not… At least, if I were cows…that’s EXACTLY how I would intentionally proceed in terms of my own cow happiness!!!! Alright, you win, you really know why strip grazing is ultimately better…but…oooh, whole field grazing feels soooo yummy good! Congratulations Pete, you do not need my accolades to feel the sort of satisfaction you get from your beautiful fields, but I sincerely appreciate your hard work and love for the bounty you have created..with the help of God. IT IS TRULY BEAUTIFUL TO OBSERVE AND IMBIBE!!! May God always bless you, your beautiful family and gorgeous livestock…FOREVER…and God bless your GRANDFATHER, evidently he passed on to you what was important in nourishing the cows! I am just going to say…as a Nurse, graduated in the 1970’s…from High School…LISTENING has always been what I focused on completely. It lead me across the country into unknown and unfamiliar places and at the same time into laces that I would never have traded for anything else!!! The ability to embrace humanity… on every, if not ANY single level… is sort of like…let’s crack on!!!! Honestly, I have NO idea as to where I currently am……as a God given soul! Nothing I see before me gives me any hint about as to who or what I am.

You are right about peace of mind being found in the pasture. I find peace on the seat of a tractor while out in the fields. The slow and steady pace of small farms allows you time to enjoy what is there, from the smell of fresh turned dirt, the the grain dust of harves, it's all there! I don't have a farm, but I got myself a Farmall 400. When I need peace of mind, I go out for a drive.

I also miss the smells of the farm, fresh cut hay, the horse stalls, the dairy barn, corn crib, hay mow/hayloft, silage......... and even the smell of manure brings back memories! I've never forgotten my roots.......my neighbor and I split a cord of wood Sunday, I truly enjoyed it. I have and old wood stove in my tractor shed and can't wait to have a fire this fall and the smell it brings! I worked on the fields moving irrigation and weeding beets from my uncle's farm. You are very special indeed. Pete, I never have had a day working in the soil and getting dirty under my finger nails that I I didn't feel clean and refreshed inside and out. My advice to everyone is work the soil even if it is in a small planter. Dig your way to happiness.

Scratching temples and muzzles is what I do every morning before I prepare breakfast for the horses and every evening too. 365 days a year, 40 times a day. Perfect way to start and finish your day.

You reminded me of Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM, my Dad would call me when Mom went to choir. We would talk till Mom got home about an hour and a half later. We didn't talk about anything special just talked. He's been gone since 1979 but I still miss those talks.

Hi Pete (and Hillary), I just got home from a trip to South Dakota to visit the small farm my daughter worked at for the summer and was catching up with your videos. Your demeanor and the way you approach your animals is so reminiscent of my grandmother with her animals it brings back great memories. She always called her cows in with “Suuuue babies” and they always came running no matter how far away. She also liked hearing them eat and chew their cud. I’ve recently retired and moved back to the home place and started to revive skills I had forgotten or seldom used but I’m starting it slowly. Gardening and a few laying hens so far, but I’ve enjoyed your working on tractors too. Your video on maintenance for your C was very helpful as I’m starting to revive my dads C that has not moved in 15 years or more. The last time I remember working on it was putting main bearings on it in the 1980’s but it was my favorite tractor to drive growing up. I spent many hours cutting, raking, and baling hay (but with an old IH square baler) in almost identical fashion that you do now. I’ve noticed your many t-shirts in the past, notably your FSU shirt because I received my Masters there. The kicker in this video, and what made me comment, was noticing your U of A shirt-I grew up, and now live, about 15 miles from the campus. I only wish you were that close so we could be friends! I know you don’t like showing the butchering process, but I plan on raising some meat birds next summer and would be interested in learning how you process yours. Thanks for the videos and keep them coming.

I have watched many, if not most of your videos and I don't believe I've ever heard you say you are a religious man. When I see videos like this it makes me believe, like myself, you are a spiritual man. I have often said, I feel closer to God sitting in Nature than ever I do in some stiff old pew. In todays world, the term Religious can have a negative overtone. However, in my book for one to be spiritual should only be looked upon as a positive. I know we only see an edited side of your life but I have to believe you are truly a kind, gentle, caring, and jovial man. Which leads me to believe a spiritual and happy man. Keep up the good videos and God Bless you, your family and your farm.

I live in Lincoln Nebraska. When I get stressed and need to relax, I just pick a direction and drive in the country. Windows down, smelling the smells of country puts a great feeling of comfort for me!

Goes to show starting right in the beginning, proper maintenence clipping and not to forget the manure spreading. Has paid back wonderful dividends. 8 years looking that good is unbelievable!
