Where I live we have terrible horse flies (green heads). People around here use traps that catch hundreds of them. Don't know if that's the same type of fly you deal with.

I'm a recent subscriber and I started watching your channel after my wife went to bed, I've watched a few with her and tonight she said to me, I don't know that I like this farm guy, he names his animals and then takes them to the butcher. So, should I send her out to pasture or put up with her?

OMG, the tire tread are going the wrong way on the new tire.

My dad and I had free range Muscovy ducks on our dairy farm. The ducks loved being near the manure piles to eat flies as they hatched! We saw a significant drop in flies when we had ducks.

I like the fly paper idea for pest control. Also this is a issue with a lot of older machines that don't do much work and sit in damp climate: engine oil get's spoiled really fast. Have witnessed it myself. Not every solution works for everyone that I learned the hardway in life.

I love the old tractors and equipment you operate. When I was a kid on the farm and our main tractor was Farmall International. We did have a Minneapolis Moline, which was the big plow tractor. (4 bottom plow) and back then that was big. But now a day all you see is the big modern tractors that cost upwards of 500K. You maintain them and they'll last forever.

I could taste that pear, just by the sound. On the mountain, we had pear trees along the dirt road, and an old apple orchard that produced apples as big as two fists together. I remember the flavor of both fruits in the hot late August sun. Also, the side hill was covered in wild strawberries and thyme, and those aromas are burned into my sense memory.

I just wanted to say thank you for being so kind. We (my husband, grandson and I) drove out from Waterford, NY (the oldest continuously incorporated village in the US) and were at the farmers market in Ithaca this past Saturday. My grandson has Williams Snydrome and you were very kind to him and he was very excited to meet you. He also has since asked if you remembered to say “Hi” to your son, Henry from him, his name is Camden.

Wait you're supposed to rotate tires? I do 6000kms on my Summer ones and 6000km on my Winter ones never went in to get them rotated in the middle.

Pete, As a fly deterrent, have you thought about using (spraying) an apple cider solution that has a little dish soap with basil, rosemary, and peppermint oils on the cows? Doesn't kill the flies but does keep them away.

Maybe some bat houses? I know that bats eat a lot of insects, but I'm not sure about the populations in that area.

I’ve been dealing with crankcase moisture on my new-to-me H. Previous owner restored it and used it as a parade tractor solely. Worked it in front of a brush hog and changed the oil twice after an hour of run time each, really seemed to help. Oil pressure isn’t quite where I’d like to see it so I may be following suit with main bearings and oil pump rebuild.

I use garlic molasses blocks, it works well for me ,over many years . I’m based in UK, I have tried a few different salts and blocks containing garlic , many were a total useless product and waste of money. 🇬🇧

Love that ol tractor, reminds me of my grampa Hibler and his first tractor. Spray your cows with Avon's Skin So Soft. I used it on my Arabian horse. He didn't like sprays so I just used a rag and smeared it on his face and back, ears and legs. It works.

Hi Pete! Watched you servicing the super C and you mentioned mice in the clutch housing. I have had good luck using peppermint spray to keep mice away. Just open that bell housing cover and spray a decent amount of the peppermint spray into the housing and mice hate it. You can get the spray on Amazon. Worth a shot. Keep up the great videos!!

I know this kinda sounds dumb but windex glass cleaner works great as a rubber lubricant to install tires or just about anything rubber.

The greasers for the tractor brought back memories. There was a shed near our house when I was a kid where they worked on equipment, and 60 years ago there were no doors much less locks. The greasers fascinated me, but I didn’t see them in action. My dad was the cow man, and we were forbidden from that shed! Yeah, right. Where did we go to work on our bikes? Thanks for the memories.

I am NOWHERE near able to do what you do physically (dose of cancer, broke and wore out body parts - I can't even find those parts in McMaster!) but do you think someone without your mechanical skills could actually run a profitable farm operation like what you and Mrs. Farm do? Seems like there are a LOT of viewers that really take encouragement from you both (a VERY good thing!), but for us monkey-fingered tool-abusers, does it make financial sense to even try something like this without a fairly good mechanical background? I know you made coloring with crayons into a career, and you had extensive tutelage with your father and grandfather (lucky man, oh so lucky!) so you were not mechanical retard... like, uh, well - ME! You've spent a lot of time talking about how (and why) you do what you do, and maybe I just missed that episode, but what are the realistic chances of a non-wrenching guy following your path?

I have horses, so I understand your troubles with flies. We have found fly predators work well to decrease fly populations. It's a subscription based service, do you get a batch of sterile eggs that hatch out. If you put those by your barns or manure pile it might help, and it doesn't use insecticide.

Your grass looks so luscious; feels like I want to chomp it myself.
