I actually played the game for the first time yesterday. I exercise regularly anyways and I got the game more out of curiosity and actually mentally derided it a little bit beforehand, thinking it would just be a gimmick to get out-of-shape gamers to move at least a little bit. But, having tried it myself now, I can say: It really is a serious workout!!
I used to work out all the time during high school because of sports. Now that I’m in my mid 20s, well, that’s not the case. Could this be a legitimate workout plan in your opinion? It’s not like I’m trying to get shredded or anything lol. Just looking for something I could do for consistent exercise.
As someone who is quite fit, I do have to say Ring Fit really saved my physique last year. I mean I did gain a lot of weight, but it allowed me to keep muscle mass and, more importantly, functionality. I play on the highest diff and I'm currently at level 300-and-something, but now I mostly just use the game in conjunction with my gym workouts to keep mobility and activity through the day. The custom lists are a god-send
24:40 not exactly forever, I think there's just 3 cycles. But I mean each cycle is unique enough anyways, first one is story, second one is post-game and third one gives a lot of freedom when it comes to the movements you can bring into battle
I love this game! A few things though. In between courses I do 20 crunches 20 squats and have started doing push ups and weight lifts as well. I suggest you start doing this. This game is great for getting people into fitness but I feel needs just a bit more to really start showing results. With that being said, I love RFA and am very happy I got this and grateful for the impact it has had on my well being ever since I started it up.
I’ve been playing Ring Fit everyday since I got it and it’s great. I’m 500 some days in and my Ring Con doesn’t even press to 100 anymore (hopefully they’ll restock replacements soon). I’ve gone through the story all 3 times and really hope we’ll get a sequel or more DLC. I think an exercise rogue-lite could be interesting!
It was a big thing over a year ago, his child was born at the same time as another gaming youtuber he used to work with and now has a channel up i believe is named good vibes gaming
I'm on RingFit every day for 1.5 months except for a couple missed days...between 8-15 minutes, level 22. I either bike or walk long enough to burn 500 calories every day (missed a couple days) and I eat a full day's calories (about 2050 for me right now). I had a few days where I ate too much food but I've still lost about 15 pounds. My posture is better. My muscle tone is changing for the better. My flexibility is better. It helps, it's fun, it works.
I've lost 5 kilos, so like 10 pounds, with just a bit of diet adjustment and ring fit every other day. This is in around month and a half and I feel more active, more alert
I’ve been doing one level each day before work, (where I’m on my feet for at least 8 to 9 hours, zipping around and stocking up a busy shop) for about a month now out of about 3 after 14 months or furlough. I have far more energy throughout the day than I would have without the exercise, have lost all the lockdown weight and know the exercises well enough to do a quick workout without turning the switch on if I’m short on time. Definitely in my top 3 switch experiences.
Weight loss happens in the kitchen, getting in shape happens in the gym...great advice I will always remember from when I started my weight loss journey about 6 years ago (obviously any type of exercise will help put you in a caloric defecit but if you eat like garbage you will 100% go back into a surplus unless you're running a marathon everyday or have an extremely fast metabolism)
Bought it almost a month ago, and been able to play a bit every day ever since, but been doing only 12 difficulty. Do feel inspired to finally try to increase the difficulty level.
For Jon, some days were tough, some days he barely made it; but he did it every day, because of course he did! because it is written: thou mayn’t stoppeth the Jon.
I'm not necessarily looking to "workout". I just don't have the time or the emotional drive for that gym life. But I am interested in shedding some pounds (while also changing my diet as well of course). So would people recommend this for that more casual "i just want to be healthier" lifestyle?
@Danny Idrovo well I do enough lifting at work (all I do is lift and handle 50 pound boxes all day lol) so sounds like as long as I alter my diet, I should be good to go.
Yes. I tend to add some extra cardio on the side, but it'll give you some cardio and some calisthenics. If you stop the first time it suggests (after 10-15 minutes of actual exercise and 20-30 minutes of overall time depending on how much you fiddle with smoothie menus and such), you'll get a pretty light workout with a good balance of different stuff.
Hey, personal trainer here. If you're not interested in the gym life, thats totally fair! To start dropping weight, the main thing you've got to focus on is that diet change! Calculate your rough total daily calories and then eat 90% of that over a day as a good starting point. As far as the game goes, I 100% recommend it for some fun bodyweight and aerobic training. It can definitely be a good addition for a healthier lifestyle overall.
I think Ring Fit Adventure is great and I’ve been on and off with it since launch. It would have been so much better with Miiverse to compete better with friends. The in game rankings just don’t quite cut it on their own and finding outside communities is tough.
I’m already a somewhat active person but this video really convinced me to pick up the game again lol. It’s not a bad work out, especially for cardio! And like they say any exercise is better then none.
I have lost 20 kilos by playing ring fit and while being in calorie deficit while having some health complications. All it takes is will. We can do it! Let's go comrades!
I got this game a while ago, managed to play it once, felt excited about playing it regularly and then proceeded to break multiple ribs the next day. I hope I get to play it regularly soon.
I bought this at the start of the pandemic but found it difficult to get the space to play as we only really have the living room and bedroom. Luckily now that we’re allowed out a bit more I’m getting more space to myself and as I’m still not comfortable going back to the gym for my weight training I’m using this to get me eased back into everything and I’m really enjoying it. I like that it encourages you to use lots of different types of exercise rather than just focus on one thing and does feel like it improves overall fitness as well as being a fun game.
In terms of weight gain/loss I would suggest checking once per week IF anything BUT I will say this, it's not about weight it's about body. What I mean by that is simply this, fat weighs less than muscle. So you might think you're gaining weight but really you're losing fat and gaining muscle. Be aware of that because sometimes the scales can lie to you and make you think you're gaining fat weight when you aren't! Otherwise this makes me want to buy ring fit adventure right now and I still don't have a darn switch!! Weighting (notice the pun) on the OLED!! Perhaps the more beautiful screen will melt away extra fat!!
I still need to get my hands on this one. But I would love to see them bring back the classic "Dance Aerobics" from NES that would work with something like the ring fit ring.
@@KennyMaximum Able to do dozens of push ups or squats on demand, I can stretch and touch my toes, and nearly do the splits. Mountain Climbers are also quite easy.
@@Nukatha Good stuff! Glad to hear you got a lot out of it. Was wondering if to grab it for my 10 year old son and I, still looking into it some more, but it sounds like it could be a winner.
The running part is a part of the game I am worried about as I have floor boards which shake the house if you walk heavily on them, very tempted to get the game however.
Hey all, Arizonan here. I’m here to tell you that you ain’t shit by withstanding your heat. Because society dictates I must say this because we are heat demons.
Exercise and nutrition are two sides of the same coin. Doing one will still make you feel better over time, but doing a reasonable amount of both will do wonders.
I bought RFA at the beginning of the pandemic. I had to spend $300 for it, and I'm not proud of that for several reasons, but if I question Nintendo for not keeping the game and peripheries stocked better... Anywho, I'm on day 119 now, and it's been a great workout or warmup now that I'm going back to the gym.
Just got mine but kinda curious, does your sweat get all over the joy-con? 🤔 Asking in case I should get a protective cover for the controller but even then, I dunno if that would affect the sensors
Most of the time, you're not touching the joycon, and I think the pads on the ring con that you're touching most of the time are sweat absorbent. The only times it's every necessary to use the joycon is when opening the menu. You can use the ring con for everything else
I haven't bought this game because I know I wouldn't play it much. I get bored quickly with turn-based RPGs. I think an action RPG where you have to actually dot he action of fighting such as shadowboxing would get me fit and I would enjoy it.
RF is good if you need to get off the couch, it's not gonna make you ripped, it could make you more fit though as long as you put in the effort and don't do it lazily, it's also highly unlikely that it'll help you lose weight unless you're just hitting your calorie limit, if you need to lose weight that most often means you're eating too much so it's unlikely this will tip you into the loss side enough for it to make an impact, if you need to lose weight all you need to do is eat less.
I hope you guys don't worry too much about how much weight you're losing as any muscle you gain will increase your weight - just trust in how your body feels!
