Young Filipinos start with PORK adobo. Then they get older -- and the doctor says to avoid pork. So the older Filipinos switch to CHICKEN adobo. Finally, we get very old -- and the doctor tells us to eat more vegetables and less meat. So we end up with VEGETABLE adobo -- like Adobong Kangkong (water spinach).

I think you and your mom are getting more and more excited about going to the Phil as your day of departure is getting closer. Can’t blame you because that is my feeling every time I am flying to the Phil from TX. I am a Fil-Am based here in TX and, despite my frequent trip to the Phil (almost yearly), I still get so excited visiting the Phil every time.

Some combine pork and chicken in their adobo. You can even add boiled eggs, carrots and potatoes as an extender. Sometime in the future try to buy an air fryer. It uses only a bit of cooking oil. You can easily cook roasted chcken in an air fryer and other dishes. You have to invert the chicken too and then put marinade so it will not become dry. Cooking in an air fryer takes a short time only. Andrey, try to also visit other places in the Phils. Mindanao is beautiful but Luzon and Visayas also have a lot of tourist spots. I hope you let your mom taste all the available fruits that she has never tasted before. I wish Liza , your sister will speak english in her channel. Andrey, how come you are fluent in english? What is the medium of instruction in the russian schools?.

We like all kinds of meat in the Phils. However, we mainly use chicken and pork in adobo; you can also use beef and fish using the same adobo recipe. Regarding the fish sauce, you can also use it on the table, not just for cooking. If you have fried or grilled fish, chicken, pork, or beef, you can serve the fish dipping sauce with squeezed lemon, and the food will taste better. The same applies to combined vinegar, soy sauce, chopped onions, and pepper. They are great sauces to match your grilled or fried pork, lechon belly, chicken or fish. But don’t overuse the fish and soy sauce because they are sodium; You may find low-sodium soy sauce from your Asian market. As always, moderation is the key to good health.

Tell mom to buy a rice cooker, automatic cook without burnt, no need to keep an eye on it. Highly convenient, she can do other foods while rice cooker on. Also you can add many other ingredients into white rice together inside cooker. Like broth, green peas, carrots.... the rice grain will absorb the flavors, making it more tasty & complete. A rice cooker lets you steam any foods. Buy her a rice cooker
