I just disembarked from the Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady Cruise Ship and i have to say that I’m pretty disappointed. Here’s why

I will say I was thinking about Virgin, but from all I've seen the only thing I would enjoy would be the food. The entertainment would not appear to appeal to me, no drinking package with sea days, wife and I drink and when you have 2 sea days normally worth it. Their cruise itinerary , US, does not appeal to me seems like 1 to 2 ports then private resort. I don't really like cruise lines private resorts. Plus they're almost luxury expensive.

Good/Bad/ indifferent…I just want to know how you felt. So many channels like eating channels go “ this is delicious while eating rocks and mud” to try to make companies happy. Thank you for keeping it real.

Lost luggage, a broken shower handle, that they tried to pin on you, canceled shows, and a leaky ceiling right over the bed?! The very least they could have done was offer you a room upgrade. DAMN, they wouldn’t know customer service if it bit them in the ass. You should write a letter to corporate. And they should offer some type of refund. Don’t let corporations walk all over you Jay, you deserve better.

Honestly, this strikes me as the difference between British and American customer service...the Brits will fob you off, the Americans will bend over backwards to make things better. (I'm British and have travelled a fair bit to the USA).

Hey guys. Nice to hear Laurene’s critique. Customer service, day activities lacking. Oh yes. You had said a floor had caved in. At least no one was injured. Off the topic. Laurene is beautiful. Love the way she looks at you when you speak and you at her. The handle shouldn’t be falling off no matter how hard someone may pull. I didn’t realize the leak was in your room. Anyway a lot of little things stacked up with the luggage 🧳 the worst. Thanks for sharing and see you next video.

The leak and the broken shower handle on a ship about a year old would send me over the edge! I'm thinking that VV will get a lot of negative press from other cruisers too and either they will fix or lose $$$$. Remember, Jay was supposed to work on Ship #3, but that ship is delayed a year, and now Jay is a full time You-Tuber.

Thought I was losing my mind, tried commenting and it failed, refreshed the page and the video was gone. Didn't realize the comments went silly. Sad reality of anything internet these days, people can be downright ruthless online. Guess just need to roll with it and block out the bad as best as possible. Bad things can happen on trips and especially given the volume of people coming on and off each week. The amount of things that go right all the time is actually quite impressive. But how they respond when things don't work is completely in their control and it really seems like they dropped the ball multiple times. That credit for clothes was insane, like how much true "cost" is there for some Virgin t-shirts and shorts. They should have given you a few pairs to help, the credit, and the laundry to clean what little you had at a bare minimum. Cost to them would have been virtually non-existent, but the impact on your view of the trip and them as a cruise line would have likely been much higher. And that's not even taking into consideration the youtube channel and the publicity from it to viewers, many of whom find channels like yours when planning trips and looking at options. I mean they should treat everyone great when things go bad with or without social followings, but my god does it look bad when they do virtually nothing and we come along for the ride via your channel. Virgin dropped the ball here for sure

Thank you for the review. You and Lauren are a great couple. Losing your luggage can be the worst experience of any travel. I learned a long time ago to travel with a full change of clothes and toiletries in a carry-on bag in case my luggage gets lost. This practice has only had to 'save' me once in my 30 plus years of travel on airlines and cruise ships, but I still do it. I suspect you carry a lot of equipment with you so it may be a challenge to include a full change of clothes, but I recommend trying this suggestion in your future travels to help ease the problems that can arise should your luggage get lost again.

It does all add up; many times when I leave a cruise, I think “I’ve got to upgrade myself.” I cruise a lot on RCI, but during the shutdown, I promised myself I would try some other lines. Virgin Voyages is on the list, but when certain rules are relaxed on one side, that will be reflected by the other side. It sounds like what you experienced at Sailor Services would not have happened on most other major cruise lines. Anyway . . . Nice to see Laurene again. Love the haircut. Safe travels.

Thanks for the excellent video and for not deleting it. I love your honesty and that's one of the qualities that makes your channel an unique one. I'll definitely never ever waste my money on Virgin. The way they treat the situations you had was awful and the entertainment is nothing even close what I would like. I'm happy you guys are safe off from that ship. I appreciate you and Laurene's transparency about this cruise. It did seem like a disproportionate number of mishaps for just a five day cruise -- and the biggest being the subpar customer service. I hope the next cruise has a better experience for you.

Hey J, loved Lauren’s review. Actually I had some friends go on several Virgin voyages and it’s really an evening ship. I think they expect people to workout during the day hence the punching bag, workout equipment, etc.

You definitely have more patience than me J, by the time staff start to blame me for something I quietly brought to their attention, that's when I go live and "put them on blast" as we say here in the caribbean. Is it so hard for the staff to come in and address the problem, fix it, ask if there's anything else else he can help the customer with or do for the customer, if the customer response is no, then that's it.. staff leaves, problem is solved and the customer is satisfied (It's that simple). Geez, Its almost like customer service is starting to lack every where these days. But neither the less I'm glad you and Lauren still had a lovely time on your trip despite the few hiccups. 😁😁😁

I commented on your first video from this cruise with lots of details from our cruise on Scarlet Lady last month. We had a similar experience. When we got off the ship my wife immediately threw away her wristband. I doubt that I will ever talk her into giving Virgin another try. We’ve never been on a disappointing cruise before. I’ve left a single complaint in the company survey prior to this one. It took me about 2 hours to do the survey from our Virgin cruise. Our cabin was great. No issues with that. We did have issues with nearly everything else. We all know that problems happen. When they do you go to customer service and get them straightened out. Except for Virgin. They just shrug their shoulders. I believe, based on what we experienced, that Virgin is not as well prepared to expand the number of people on their ships. As occupancy goes up then it seems that everything else went down. I would love to give them another chance eventually. I do plan to give them more time to adjust to increased occupancy rates. Maybe they could fix their app as well. That would go a long way to improving the communication onboard.

Don’t delete it. It was your experience and it’s good to know the good, the bad and the ugly. I would have been way more upset if those things happened to me on top of no luggage. Lack of customer service and blaming you for a ridiculous room is unacceptable! They should have moved you to a suite after all that!

Hey Jay and Lauren so sorry to hear your cruse did not end up as you’d hopped, considering your surcease dramas and aircon and other room maintenance issues you’ve both been very respectful and present regarding the problems you’ve experienced< your both entitled to be disappointed over your experience > - coming from a hotel background if they had rooms available you SHOULD of been at least offered a room move. and honestly unless there were signes you’d trashed the room - I’ve seen my fare share of them in my career blaming a ( sailor) for a maintance issue isn’t exactly the best customer service give people thethe benefit of the doubt until you’ve got irrefutable proof that the said sailor has caused said damage. Things in rooms brake occasionally it’s all part of the room getting its normal day to day use. I hope your next cruse is a better experience for you both. David Young 37 Brisbane Australia.

Ooh, I would go off if they thought I broke something on purpose or from wrongdoing! I suspect they wonder if people are trying to get a cruise discount or a free cruise. Good that you stayed patient and pleasant. You're calling them out on this video and someone will learn a lesson. As for the cruise itself, the food looked fantastic but the entertainment and facilities looked amateurish and inelegant. Glad to follow your channel so I know this cruise line is not for us

from watching these videos and those of a crew member on one of the VV ships, seems that the 'target market' is the adult who is looking for a 'good time' and that is important for those on other ships would not apply to them. As long as they can 'hook up' they are fine.

Your comments are very similar to my experience on the Scarlet Lady last October when I took my first Virgin cruise. I had a back to back voyage and found the organization and availability of activities almost non existent; credit given for a beautiful ship and great food. I am one of those few that found the cruise more painful than enjoyable. I know I am in the minority but as a solo traveler I'll never do it again.

I'm new to cruising and have decided to try different lines to see what is a "fit" for me....I was on a Celebrity in January, a Carnival this month (October) and will be doing a Norwegian in December. I was going to make Virgin my next cruise (possibly for my birthday), but not sure now. I know every ship, every cruise and every experience is different. But I am BIG on Customer Service and good food. And I like well communicated plans/events. I've followed you for several months now. And as I've watched this trips videos, I'm pretty taken back by the lack of Customer Service. With the lost luggage and just a $100 credit, I would have laughed at them.....and then during the water leak and broken shower door video, I kept wondering why you hadn't already been moved to different cabin. THAT should have been their first action....along with a complimentary bottle of Champagne. I worked in hotel management for several years......Good Customer Service will bring back guests that had a bad experience. Bad Customer Service will run off even guests that had a fairly good experience.

Thank you for this video! I am so sorry Laurene didn't have the experience you wanted for her. Customer service is becoming a lost art everywhere. My ONLY complaint - I am not a fan of terms like "seasoned" and "mature". Just come on out and say the majority of people were your parents' age or just say everyone was 40s and up. That's just me though - take it easy (love Laurene stealing your line!)!

I love this style of giving a quick fresh off the ship review with the ship in the background! I can’t believe how many things went wrong on a 5 day sailing and it honestly doesn’t seem like Virgin cared much. I agree with Lauren they should of moved you to another cabin, honestly they should of upgraded your cabin for the sole purpose of losing your luggage! They should of comped a couple bottles of champs and given you way more than $100 to buy clothing. Virgin did not handle things properly to secure a return visit in my opinion. And OMG I can not believe they tried to blame you for rust!!! I never planned on sailing this woke cruise line anyway but if I had, your experience would of ended that idea for sure.

Try Vikings Ocean Cruising! It's adult only Cruise don't let the ages fool you. Me and departed husband had a blast. Take your friend. The Viking Star. Just read up on it. The sevice was excellent!

Rusty door hardware. Your room would not be the only one with this problem. There will be other rooms experiencing the same problem as it wouldn’t likely be isolated. Pretty sure the crew member who grilled you will be eating his words when he goes to the next broken one and the next….and the next…and the nex….

When you showed the leak above your bed I thought for sure you’d be moved to another cabin! Awful customer service. And you did a great job trying to be objective while on board. I won’t cruise with Virgin as it’s not my cup of tea but they look like beautiful ships. Keep up the good work! And you two make a nice couple💕

I went on the same ship right after your cruise. We had a great time. But I will say, the hospitality was not the same as I experienced on Royal Caribbean. The galley is not ran properly, wait quite a while for breakfast and not having orders put in. We had a couple servers completely ignore us. But I feel those small things are small in comparison to all the good.

Thank you for the honest review. I think it’s great how y’all point out the positives and how other VV cruises have been good. But this sounds like a very disappointing cruise in several ways. My family will avoid. Can do better than poor CS for my money.

New subscriber... let the hater's hate.. sad that they don't have better things to do. We just got back from our second cruise (however, the first was like 20 years ago on a broken down Carnival boat that is no longer in the fleet, so I consider it a first time cruise), this time with Royal Caribbean. We were so looking forward to the food and it was a let down completely with only two dishes from the main dining room that I thought were outstanding (French onion soup and Key Lime Pie). I am disabled and I ordered a scooter to be able to get around. We had a balcony room and I was a bit concerned if we were going to be able to get the scooter in the room. Sure enough, it BARELY fit in the door and the way it was set up, we had to wedge it in between the bed and the wall. They were able to scoot the bed over a bit to give more room.. anyway, we ended up leaving it in the hall most of the time but at night, they would take it away (supposedly to charge it - which didn't happen) so we ended up with a dead scooter on day three of the 5 day cruise (it was SUPER rough and my poor husband had to try to push me around in a wheelchair).. so a hint for anyone who is renting a scooter for a cruise. Make sure that you get the smallest scooter available and that your room is set up so that you can get it in.. and that you can charge it in the room (we did not have enough power to charge it in the room - fire safety perhaps?) or that they charge it for you in housekeeping every day so that you are ready to roll the next morning. Our experience is not going to stop us from cruising again.. it just opened our eyes to some of the things to make sure of the next time around. I enjoyed your review and look forward to more!!

I also travel with a disability . I try to only cruise when there is a handicapped Accessible room available. It allows for your wheelchair or scooter to fit in the room. So when you BOOK a cruise ask for a handicapped Accessible room.

@jthenomad I agree with your girlfriend that Virgin was a bit of a letdown... I'm a cruise agent and I felt the same. Agree customer service was not great. But I liked the ship, the gallery and some of the food... LOVED EXTRA VIRGIN !!

Interesting video. There was good and bad. Port was responsible for bag not virgin. Virgin offer a great service. We are excited they are coming here. Great room great food great seating. Sounds perfect to me.

Mistakes happen....yes....however for what you pay for their experience, those mistakes should happen less. Plus you & your partner are kind & flexible folks. Can you imagine about those who are not????

I want to know if his luggage was the only one left behind? How can you leave a piece of luggage on the dock knowing that it's tagged & supposed to be on the ship?! Very sloppy work!!

Hi, I know I am out of subjects for which I apologize, but I follow your videos asxI like your truthness. I have a question and dont know who to ask! Hope you will answer me: My daughter will ho to audition For Royal Carribean but, being her first one, I dont know when she will get the yes or no. I need to organize the trip and dont know If she will need to stay over night ( she will audition at 10) as I have no flight back in the evening!!! Only early afternoon at 15. Hope I madeyself clear and You have an answer. If not no problem Thank You anyway:)

I agree, little or no activities during the day. The people taking bags at the port were rude and I had to correct one for his behavior. I am not surprised that your bag was lost. That ship is too new to have all these physical plant issues. As for the shows, odd and dull in my opinion. The drag queen show was awful. She was talented but the story line was silly. The food was amazing and the private island was great though.

App is horrible. It actually makes experience worse. Then go to IT desk and they tell you to try things you have already tried. App is not just buggy it's designed to be cute rather than useful

My wife and I were on the same cruise, I have to disagree with your views on customer service, we had several requests for service, issues with the TV, questions from the crew, management, all responses were resolved fast. After the repair of the TV, received two followups from other personnel. We went to the manor nightclub on Thursday evening till the early early hours and had a blast. Meet some great fellow passengers, and great bar staff at all the bars. Sailor services was great and helped us out everyday

Same here. Recently went on a 5 night cruise with Virgin and it was amazing. Best cruise I’ve ever been on. No issues at all.
