Nicks devotion for forest planning for future generations and eventually establishing a volunteer conservation group will be equally impressive. Dan and Nicks presence has set the energy in motion like tossing a pebble in the pond!
Nick is implementing a whole forest management plan that will benefit the property for years to come. So much to clean up and restore both inside and out.
I don't know why but I really enjoy watching Dan work...meanwhile my own garden is an overgrown mess and my renovations are half done. I live vicariously through you Dan.😊
When you first let us in and to see this sorry state of a building, I wondered where you would start and how on earth you would begin. Every day is a step by step guide on how to rescue this beautiful building. I have to say Dan that you are definitely winning! ❤
its such a huge job to take on, it wasn't even a full shell with missing walls and roofs.. I'm sure it would've overwhelmed most, but watching Dan's process it all seems to flow, you'd think he'd rebuilt ruins many times before!
Dan, to you it may be just another day of stuff, but there are many of us that wait all day for your vlog, no matter how long or how short to play arm chair builder and cheer you on eagerly awaiting the day you get to move in to your much earned castle, eh, chateau! ❤
Omg, the grounds work is looking so much better even the forests. You Sir Dan, doing a great job laying the floors. Wow to everything. Kisses to the pups!!!
this made me wonder, there seems to be no obvious areas where a lawn or formal garden would've been. I wonder if there might have been a wrap-around garden, with an outbuilding along the drive so vehicles would park there and didn't come right up to the house? with so many large windows and balconies, I expect there must have been something more than trees to look on
Dan, every single day you allow us to be a part of your project IS a big day. I don't care if you are adding a floor or removing a dangling bit of porcelain. I wish I could be there to be a helper with you. Thanks for this wild roller coaster ride. Stay safe and I'll see you TOMORROW. John from LI, NY
I wish I could be there as well, I'd be the one helping peel potatoes and doing the kitchen chores I think. And helping with any first aid needed since I'm trained for that. When I was a kid my three siblings and I were given the job of hunting up any nails or screws that dad and his mate dropped. They used to build shearing sheds and it was important not to leave anything sharp laying around for the sheep or the shearers to tread on and hurt themselves. The shearers back then (the 1980s and 1990s) would often wear soft slipper like shoes, made out of sheepskin, rather than work boots in the shearing shed (something to do with the lanolin coating boots and ruining the grips/tread). To tread on a nail would have been immensely painful. We were given the job to pick them up not just to keep us busy, but also because kids usually have very sharp eyesight and often spot the tiny things better than adults. We were rewarded 2 cents for each nail we found and at the end of the week got to go into town to spend what we had made. To make things fair the total of our collection was divided by 4, so we all got the same amount, or we could pool our money to buy a container of icecream or bigger bag of lollies. We weren't missing school since the shearing sheds were built in the summer school holidays after Christmas (I'm an Aussie). We often would get to explore the property, maybe swim in a dam or creek if we got hot and sometimes would camp in a tent next to the building site as well. Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot
Incredible, Dan! It is such a pleasure to watch your journey in restoring this grand home! Your team is awesome! Love the dogs! Thank you, for including us on your journey! Bravo, well done! "It's a floor!" No, Sir have to disagree! It's a step closer to a completion of a dream!
Aw, especially when they get a cuddle or a walk to inspect the woods! It's so cool they are older dogs and don't mind camping out, not getting into trouble like young pupps, they kind of get whats up on some basic instinctual level. Their territory has definately multiplied tremendously! For the rest of their lives they have this second home, an entire forest, to come and hang out in now and then, at least when mummy takes a trip or weekend off. Not too shabby digs either. 😉 Senior dogs are the bestest dogs 💕
They are having the vacation of a lifetime - such sweet puppers. They both stick around like glue, fortunately. What is the pink flowering bush/tree that Nick was talking about - it was hard to hear him. It's lovely whatever it is.
Dan the man. I am so very proud of you and your accomplishments!!! I have un officially adopted you as my grandson. Your work ethic is beyond bounds, the same for your friends. What a team.
Yes, I am always flabbergasted to see what a small percentage of the big amount of viewers hit the like. What's not to like! Don't they know it will help Dan? He could have reached 250,000 by now at least! :)
Yeah. 93K views in 6hours, and only 15K likes. And where's the rest of the 236K subscribers. Yesterdays video, with 210K views have 21K Likes. That's one in ten!
@@francoisebekaert8137 Lots of people wont know that it matters. I didn't know until I read someones comment. Now I understand a bit better, I always hit like.
It's a floor! I so am looking forward to you getting to the last floor to do and starting the roof! It's so amazing how a wall of bricks become a room when a floor is installed. I mean, I can now dream about what that room will be. What you will do with it. It is so exciting! And the amount of rubble that has been moved because of all the help just makes it that much more a house and a yard. WOW!
This is one of the most exciting projects on You Tube at the moment - to see the progress and how hard you all work, its breathless just seeing how fast the place is returning to its former self. You all deserve a huge pat on the back. Well done xx
The excitement is palpable Dan! I simply could not be happier for you!!!! And those pups seem to be happy there as well. It's becoming more difficult not to mourn the end of each episode. ❤❤❤
It’s so important to have helper dogs. We all need a Nick in our lives. Thank you for sharing him. Nick is a good teacher too as Cameron is a good learner and an exceptional worker. As you are all working so hard I’ve been enthused to do a Swedish death clean on my house. I haven’t been well enough to do anything for years up until now. I live in an old warehouse so I think it’s going to take me years😂. Exceedingly great work Dan. It is a really big thing to get floors in to the chateau. It’s fabulous. Thank you. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤❤❤🤩🤩🤩
Yes, it may well be 'their job'... But what @maryannknox7158 is expressing is that these guys don't just do it for the money. It's their passion..... And that is what has us watching day after day after day! It's the chemistry between these guys.... And the work they are doing. This bears no resemblance to your typucal 9 to 5. 'job'. And if I sound frustrated, I am.
Now Dan has finished the floor so they can move up and install the steel beams for the next floor. Nick and Cameron are continuing the process of cleaning up around the Chateau and cutting more trees down. Looking good outside!
A floor, a floor, a floor! Dan, I'm a proud one of your many Mama's. Nick is fast becoming a hero as well! And his s assistant as well. You guys can get more done in a day than most do in a month! Thank you for sharing every day. I hope someday I will be visiting your finished chateau!
Wow, another floor. I’m sure you feel a great sense of accomplishment everytime you install a floor. Nick and Cameron are doing a fabulous job as well.
Hello Dan, I'm an American,, from an early age iv'e been drawn to castles & forts being able to watch you take this burnt out chateau and rebuild it has answered my questions as to how these things are built,,,,, I love what you are doing and hope it provides your family a great source of income to fulfill your dreams.
It’s great to see the floor in. It’s a big milestone. Onwards & upwards. The lads are doing a great job getting rid of all the rouble & clearing the woodland. Making progress. See you tomorrow 👀😉👍🏻
I will be sure to keep you in my prayers that tomorrow all goes well. I’m sure it will. Dan the man you are rocking these tasks. You could not have any better help than the awesome team that’s working with you to accomplish the goals.
I'm glad Dan has tbe dogs to talk to when the others have gone home. Hate to think of him there totally alone. Maybe the dogs can do a week at the chateau and a week at the farmhouse on repeat after Annalise and the boys return from their hols.
Maybe Nick can have his own vlog, he would be awesome he knows so much about gardening and trees . He could be a treasure trove of information 😉. All of your friends are awesome speaks a lot about Dan. Chateau is looking good
Nick did a vlog with Dan about the forest. H helped us save a Walnut tree talking about how destructive ivy can be growing up a tree. He is incredible in our book!
Wannabe environmentalists can learn a lot from Nick about managing a forest. It encourages diversity, promotes new growth, and reduces the possibility of fire. (Did you hear that, California, Oregon and Washington?)
I'm hoping he will be able to pay roofing specialists to do the roof. His channel is growing daily at a rapid rate and he has 1000+ patrons. Surely he can afford to pay to have just the roof done. It is not a D.I.Y job but a job for experts and he needs to get a roof on this section of the chateau to protect the work he has done and so he can move into one of the rooms before the winter.
@@jmk1962 Absolutely! I also think it should be possible to get the final roof framing on over just this section, just leaving the ridge beam long over the hallway area so it can be joined onto when the next section goes on. As far as I can tell the two mansard roofs had a common continuous ridge that joined them over the hallway (with all sorts of added craziness to join that section of roof to the tower and the back mansard roof). No need to get the slate on right now, just framing, boards and membrane to get it dried in.
@@jmk1962 I agree. It would be so much better to hire it out. I'm not sure his Patreon money is enough yet. Though it is really adding up, I know that the repairs on the Le Grifferaie roof are something like $250,000.00. Now Dan will be doing a smaller section at a time, it seems, but it still, it's going to be much more than he currently is making. I also assume he's going to try to recreate the original roof ... that's a pretty special type of roof, not DIY at all. So yeah, I agree, I hope he can get professionals in for that part.
It’s all moving on a pace Dan Daily. Watching all the progress is quite amazing. Thank you for filming, editing & sharing with us Dan Daily 😊 We can clearly see how happy you are ☺️ Love seeing the doggos 🐾🐾🥰
Tomorrow is a BIG BIG day!!! I can't wait to see more beams going up. The grounds are really looking sharp compared to the beginning. Keep up the great spirits of reviving this place of refuge. It will make the world a better place. Thank you Dan for all your doing. It brings many smiles to the world. Many Blessings and much peace your way. Arizona's Annabananna
Trust a festive celebration party will take place at the Chateau when the work is completed ! Do invite us all from these chat/ comment rooms to spend a little time LIVE STREAM with you and everyone blessed to be there in person ! ? ! 🎇🥂❗Happy continued safe renovation👍❗
That would be a great idea. Bring everyone, who has links to the chateau. An hour live online for interactive chat, discussion of next stage plans, encouragement, appreciation and general celebration. You could easily make it part of your own social event. I'm sure Stephanie would love an input on it. A little jump and a Yay in front of the camera is great as an ongoing mark of achievement. A bigger thing for everyone is good for everyone. Christmas/New Year is traditionally obvious. When external work stops due to the change to winter weather might be more convenient. Like the celebration of the wine harvest.
I spend a lot of time every day following the situation in Ukraine. So much destruction of buildings being turned into rubble, so it's extremely refreshing to also get a daily dose of reconstruction as a reminder, that even the most desolate of ruins can be rebuilt. This series is such an inspiration and encouragement, full of optimism and enthusiasm... and the doggies are absolutely wonderful!
Dan, I don't know what it is about this particular room but I felt such peace of mind. Youve got perfect windows, floors and a fireplace! And an adjoining room! Seeing your little dog ambling about these magnificent spaces as if to the chateau born made me smile. Also, I don't think your smile could get any broader. Nick and Cam have done a splendid job. I Look forward to tomorrow.
You should look into renting a self-erecting tower crane, would work great for those beams. Would also be perfect for getting all the building materials up to the top floor.
He’s mentioned fixing the grounds around the chateau to make it easier for lorries to come by… I have a feeling we’ll be seeing boom trucks and/or a scissor-lift show up soon.
He has been promised scaffolding by Cassons, a builder's merchant, from ags ago but still no sign of it. Maybe it's coming soon. I wish Dan would tell us.
I really do enjoy seeing the daily progress reports! If I were independently wealthy, I’d be there helping out. Man! What a fun project! So many cool people! Keep on staying positive and motivated, you are making a huge difference!
I like the sounds, tap tap hammering the wood, blower-hair-dryer-, Van, wriggly-metal-souds of Nic's Trailer. I really get a chuckle every Time I watch Nic in his Moving-mini-prison-cell ! Looks ferocious !
The dogs are loving this! They get to be w you all day long they get to be outside all day and with people. They are happy as all! Such good chateau dogs ❤
Busy day the boys are doing great work the forest is looking great around the Chateau is starting to shine as the rubble disappears Dan another terrific video even the puppies are very happy in their new place thanks for sharing should introduce the puppies ! Exciting every day !😀😍
I'm amazed with the massive amount of dirt in the chateau. I understand the debris from the fire and collapse but dirt. Is it from the wind and weather blowing into the chateau for so many years? Well, at least you are recycling it into a car parking area. Nick is a wizard with his machines.
Consider this, it has been 2,000 years since the Roman Empire fell. Ancient Rome is still sort of there, but it is buried under about 2 meters of dust. There is dust falling every day. If you don't dust it away, it builds up. 30+ years can be a fair bit of dust, mixed with leaves and other biological mass as well of course.
The ash from three floors of floor boards, roof timbers and joists which would have been huge. All the plaster that fell of the walls. Just imagine the ash from the timber that was in that huge stair case and then the three floors above ( look at the timber Dan is taking back into the building for just one floor) and then yes nearly 40yrs of nature taking its course every year bringing a fall of leaves all decomposing. I'm actually amazed that the hall floor didnt give way!
Needless to say, you continue to do great work. You are definitely organized in your thoughts and how you are approaching the reconstruction step by step. It’s amazing to see the whole floor installed after all of the previous cleanup.
Please, Dan, introduce us all to the puppers. I NEED to know their names. Such lovely woofs and they seem to be SO enjoying their doggy selves out there in the woods.
it is particular to see that ithe dogs mmediatly choose a spot on the floor and from then on ...that 's their spot , ...leaving the ball on the spot, a quick lay on the spot ... Great to see
You are soon at the top. When you takle the Walls there and put the Roof back on it, things will go so fast. It will be stanning to see the beautiful Roof back in place. The Roof makes this Chateau so unique and special.
Nick is still amazing. Dan not only have you become great at what you doing, you have great partners too in Nick and everyone else. It’s all like a beautiful orchestra. Keep up the great work.
I am always so relieved to see those plywood temporary floors go down, I get the heebee jeebies watching you on those planks, great work Dan, youre a 🌟
Goodness, things are really moving along! You'll be measuring for window coverings in a few weeks time. Do you have a favorite toile pattern, Dan? Just kidding. Although a toile pattern that tells the epic story of your chateau would be super cool. Hmmm... We'll put a pin in it for now. 😁😘💕
By now 238.000 viewers applaud your results. - It seems to be very meditative to watch other people work. Most interesing is, that we watch you work, and our own garden falls to pieces. I should take down a wind-half-felled apple-tree, build two new pergolas for tomatoes and wines... and what did I do? I put four plants down from the balcony and planted them into the shrubbery, that is a complete mess, anyways, and would need rearranging, then the sun came out, and I decided to go back in to 'watch Dan', because it's getting too hot outside to work.
Clearing the areas surrounding the château is claiming its grandeur that was lost in the overgrowth. She can breathe again. What an accomplishment in reinstating the floors on each of the levels is! Onwards to the roof! And just how did the pups make it up to the higher floors?
I believe the floor he is working on now is at the top of the front stairs to the right. His workshop is underneath it which was the kitchen and considered the basement level? I think I got this right.
@@oaknwichlanedesignsyeah just about, the workshop is in the entrance hall and the kitchen is basement level below that new floor. It’s hard to keep track of, but so exciting too!
Good morning team Dan ❤ Well now … it’s good afternoon 🤣 interrupted by customers/people in my shop … how dare they mess with my Dan time 😂 Absolutely a another amazing day had by the dream team at the Château… Aww your doggo’s are the bee’s knees… Congratulations on the floor 😊 Praying 🙏 all goes well tomorrow with lifting the beams (my night ) Be safe and we will see you tomorrow…❤
Dan you're doing a fabulous job on your chateau. What a tremendous team Nick and Cameron are. So excited to see the next level and finally a roof. Do me a favour though Dan and take a break, you must be exhausted.
Another day of accomplishment! “Sweet dreams are made of this!” Great work, Dan, Nick & Cameron! Your energy is transformative, and your vision, superb!
Dan, Progress, progress, progress...One day at a time, and you are certainly moving along in record time. You'll be air and water tight before the summers end and possibly fully heated with hot and cold running water by Christmas. But then the hard stuff...Working this historical property and bringing it back to its life with original details but comforts for living today. I can't wait to see the results as the vlog unfolds. Mark & Scott
Like how Nick is clearing up the mess outside. Everything is coming right along! Your work station has to be so helpful for you. How did your dog get up there Dan? lol Really like how Nick considers the growth of the forest. He is so good . So glad you have Nick and Cameron helping you with the grounds and forest. You have accomplished so very much Dan. Great job!
Your crew is doing a great job clearing up the dead wood and the rubble around the chateau. 👍👍 You must have nerves of steel and great balance to be able to walk along those joists the way you do. 😊
OMG. No such thing as a "small job" at the Chateau! An enormous undertaking! I think it's terrifying. But there you are, doing one task at a time. Amazing. Kudos to you... and Nick and Cameron. Tell the Logfather I appreciate his tees and tats.
Thank you Dan & the team. You wouldn't believe how you are inspiring our family, building our dreams for future generations. Helping our planet, helping people. Great job gentlemen. Much love, respect & light. 🙏💖
This place is going to be so beautifull when it is finished i wait every day for Dans video he has lovely friends and he is one hell of a worker Dan you are amazing
I think we can all feel your sense of achievement Dan. Even though you have an amazing dream team that help you from time to time, this is your baby! 💪👷
Dan, we can't wait to see what you do next! We share your excitement here in Pittsburgh PA, USA, and appreciate you documenting each step of this incredible restoration. So happy your mates are there to help get you to the "next level". There are many to do on many sides of the chateau but we're here to support you!
