This topic has been covered soooooooooooooooooooooooo sooooooooo many times on RU-vid especially with Dan and Phil.

Once again a great video, which deserves many more views! 👍 I am supporting two independent small groups of artists via Patreon and over doing so became friends with both. One of them I met via RU-vid, the other I knew even before they came to RU-vid. From them I know the good and the bad side. Good is when you can get into direct contact with your audience, read what they think about your work (especially important for an artist because every piece of art is an expression of the artist's heart and soul), chat with them and get cheered up when you feel down. The bad thing is when this goes wrong and suddenly you have persons moving to your town to stalk you, apply for a job in your postal office to intercept your correspondence and you suddenly cannot leave your home to go shopping without security, and need security on every of your shows. As I said, I am friends with both groups, they know me personally, I know them, so they know that I exist and what I feel and think so I don't know if this is parasocial any more. But even in these relationships I think that they owe me nothing: I don't want to know their private addresses or cell phone numbers. I don't want to know anything about their real lives, family or relationships beyond the part which they share with me on their initiative, and I would never ask them for such thing. Just because they are public persons it doesn't mean they have no right on privacy. Some "fans" don't understand this, and this is were lot of the trouble is coming from. I think that showing your children on the internet without them being old enough to decide for themselves if they want it is morally wrong. Just think about yourself.... if you are 85 years old and maybe not in possession of your mental capacity anymore and someone is washing and feeding you... would you be OK with this person upload everything to the internet? Surely not, but that's just the same situation into which they put the children.

Being in the D&P fanbase was so pivotal to my development as an adolescent and I don't mean that in a good way LMAO

I just have to say, I'm totally grateful to live in this time where we are more accessible to supporting creators directly, even smaller creators and smaller businesses. Also I was such a Dan and Phil fan. Still am. I saw him on his latest tour when he came to the States!
