Hydrant was getting reprinted anyway so there was no value in the Rescue core. Meanwhile even Poplar and Promethean kept a steady 30$ pricetag as well as helping WANTED stay up. Rescue and Unchained were very interactive decks, neither should have been hit.
@@spyro2002 100% agree. Same with Unchained. Their wording compared to what they want to be meta (Fiendsmith, Promethean, Oak etc) is horrible and severely limits the deck. I actually check the wording on the announcement of new cards and predict if it's going to be meta or not just by that.

I agree the current format would be pretty cool if Snake Eye was at a lower power level. Most people stopped playing it at my locals and we’ve been having a blast playing everything else the format has to offer.
I haven't seen anyone at locals play snake-eyes around here either. People around here just don't like it, and play whatever else instead. I did see a very annoying stun deck with a horus engine though..., and tenpai, and surprisingly, even Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX. That card is a pain in the a$$ to get rid of with my good old traptrixes, as the highest my monsters go for attacking is 3500. So I had to slot in an Avramax for the extra deck. (I miss 2 cards for the Utopia combo that hits for 10k)

Can we *please* hurry up and ban DShifter? It's genuinely the most toxic card in the game, against certain decks it is quite literally a free win before the first turn even starts. I have had to consider MAIN DECKING Called By in my zero hand trap LIGHTSWORN deck because you can't even pay cost for solar recharge or light brigade or any other archetype card under a DShifter, and it's a deck that actually does use banishment, which is even more absurd. And even then, I have a 5-6/42 chance to draw the card, it does nothing for my archetype, and more often than not it's just going to be a wasted mill. That is ridiculous.
No, the format outside of Snake-Eyes isn't healthy, interesting, or "great". It costs nothing for someone to say what we will never have is actually good because it will never be tested. But we all know how dogshit it feels to play against every deck on that tournament tops list. Fiendsmith coming soon snaps the game again whether Snake-Eyes is removed or not. We're at a point where the fix will only ever be temporary until the next set ruins the game again.
The solution to snake eye has always been simle. Ban Poplar. Poplar has like 3 effects that could make it viable competitively even one by one. All 3 on one card is just too many. White Albion isn't necessarily a problem card I think. At least not for the puppet lock. The card that actually performs the lock would be the obvious hit. The only reason I see for hitting White Albion is the FTK. (Summon Beelze to the opponent's side, and something that can do burn damage to ours. Let's say, We have Black Winged Assault Dragon on our side. We summon White Albion to give Beelze to our opponent, and bring back a Nothung for ourselves. Nothung will burn the opponent for 800 ppoints, than the chain starts, with Beelze reacting to burn damage by getting stronger, and BWAD reacting to Beelze by dealing more burn damage.) OCG hit tenpai. Tenpai beat me in locals last time, in round 1. I'm all for hitting it. The reason why people feel Fenrir is broken, is because it's free. It's a free summon for a level 7, which is generally great as material for a lot of xyz/synchro plays, And also has great effects in itself. There's a reason why it's at 1 in Master Duel. I mean I have 2 copies in MD myself, but I wouldn't even mind if it got banned. Sadly due to it's attribute, some of my best decks can't really make use of it. Maybe my Traptrixes could, as those are all earth attribute too, but those rely mostly on the number of cards, and being level 4, rather than going for higher levels. Now for the floodgates: down with them. ANY card that can restrict play as much as the floodgates you listed here on their own don't deserve to be playeable. Shifter? Yuck... burn it. Skill Drain? should have been burnt to a crisp years ago. down with it as well. TCBOO? into the shredder. Rivalry of Warlords is in an odd situation in my head. As it doesn't even hit many decks that run pure, without throwing random staples in. But still, most of the decks I play would like at least 2-2 typings on the field. Let's say Plant/Insect; or Winged-beast/Dragon; or Spellcaster/Dragon... yeah, that last one actually applies to 3 of my 5 most used decks... Heck, fiend/dragon would be a good pairing too. Dragons just go very well with everything. Anti spell fragrance, I couldn't really care about any less. I don't think that's a problem card. Heck, if they want to keep floodgates, keep the ones that can be turned against their user. Like Secret Villiage of the Spellcasters. I don't think Apollousa is a floodgate though. by definition. It has a similar effect, but it doesn't straight up sais you can't activate stuff, it just sais that your opponent has x attempts to say no. Don't get me wrong, verypowerful card, and a pain in the a$$ to deal with, but that's all it is. Not technically a floodgate. You can activate stuff, it just might not resolve. With floodgates, you can't activate them either. This doesn't stop benefficial costs. Floodgates do. That's why it's called a negate, and not a floodgate. Like Baronne, or Borreload Savage were. And really, those 2 getting hit right after the sales from 25th anniversary rarity collection 1 were about done, where BOTH were rerun is a straight up dick move from Konami. Considering that I:P, Apollousa, and Accesscode are in the 25th anniversary rarity collection 2, I can sadly imagine another banwave arriving for Apollousa, or maybe even I:P once that pack's sales are about done... The 1 "floodgate" you included here that I don't like seeing on this list of yours is King Calamity. I heard that there's something called Centurion that can easily bring it out, and hence it became more broken than it was, but considering that it got pre-banned in MD before centurions arrived, not much after the Red Dragon Archfiend support was removed from the available packs, I find this to be a scummy move. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who built a Red Dragon Archfiend deck that's based on that very card being an option. With 12 starters to get the materials on the field for it; and 9 cards that could get me the ability to synchro on my opponent's turn. As 1 card combos. So 1-1 card of both category = calamity lock. Without Calamity, Red Dragon Archfiend is kind of a dead archetype, with the only 2 cards that might see play from it being Red Supernova Dragon in Synchron decks, and Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss in Blackwings. (Don't ask. It's basically a free extension, and results in having an omni negate. Just fits there really well. Alternatively, I could have used Baronne there too, if I find another blackwing tuner that's level 2, and is a free summon except Vata. Sharnga I guess could work for that. Unless I'm locked into dark monsters, because that'd mean no Baronne. I'll have to check that.)
Man please stop attacking Branded, just ban the floodgates monsters (Ido, Gimmick...), they have literally 0 purpose even in their supposed archetypes, banning those card is the answer. Let me target Albaz with Albion as it was supposed to be used for.
I love Branded, and I play it, but i absolutely refuse to puppet lock or ido lock or whatever because i hate floodgates straight up, its unfun, non-interactive, and uninteresting.

I don't think yubel is *that* bad, POY is like the only card in that deck that actually feels too strong, that and maybe the unchained package being tied together with their already fairly powerful end board. At the very least that deck needs to play a lot more engine than snake-eyes, so you won't have to contend as much with hand traps when facing down their ridiculous 5 interruption end board. Fiendsmith tho... yea I'm not super interested in that format. Not to mention there will be a real FTK deck being played around with as well.
Fiendsmith might actually do irreparable damage and could result in a mass wave of quitting for this game, if we spend 6 months sitting through this dogshit format and then the next thing we experience is all the fiendsmith nongameplay turnskip and youtube combo decks, I dont know how many people will have the patience to wait the next 4 months for the banlist that ends up doing nothing

OOS banned would kill every single Fire deck that Snake-Eyes was supposed to help but completely overshadowed. Flameburg ban would only kill Snake-Eyes pure and would leave those other decks intact. It's 100% the correct card to ban.

Ban-lists are supposed to balance the game, not destroy decks to make them unplayable. Promethean ws made as a generic FIRE support. It’s used as it’s meant to be used. OSS quite literally has “Snake Eye” in the name. It’s meant to be a “Snake Eye” card, not an engine piece jammed in everything.
Promethean Princess -> generic goodstuff extra deck card that allows all fire decks to add to their plays while not becoming the sole focus of it OSS -> archetype card that allows every deck to access into a single archetype with minimal loss and insane returns This is like comparing Rusty Bardiche and Knightmare Mermaid when Orcust was around
Oss is a pivot from snake eyes into literally any fire deck right now. So you do your snake eyes full combo then Oss into another full combo of any fire deck. That's an issue. However, reborning one and a pop during your opponent's turn for fire decks is absolutely not the issue rn. The issue is that every single fire deck can just run the entire snake eyes core and become 300% better as a deck by comboing through 3 hand traps.

Josh has changed his stance on Snake-Eye. I feel like a lot of players do that. "I dont enjoy the deck, it doesn't create a healthy environment" The evidence is in his videos somewhere, but he definitely praised it as a fun deck to play just a few months ago. As per usual, yugioh players get sick of the best deck being the best deck. This is why the banlist exists, right? It's also why powercreep exists. People want something different to play. We all find a deck(or a few) that we like to go back to to play because it's fun, but most modern players wanna play new stuff. Novelty is fun. You also have to blame the players to an extent. Everyone gravitates towards a deck that wins, because people like to win. That's why the decks get expensive. Good cards are scarce and cost more. There's a premium to owning the cards for the best deck. So people are simultaneously priced out/in deep. It's also frustrating to spend 800$ on a deck, then watch those prices tank. its the give and take. I really liked snake-eyes before it got it's big support wave in prom princess and popular and before everyone started abusing the zealantis line. It's annoying to see a deck I liked, become a powerhouse and everyone hates on it. Like with a lot of people, Josh went from "This is a cool, powerful, uniquely interactive deck" to his current take. It'll happen again, too. With the next Top deck. Give it 6 months.

@@Ragnarok540 I mean sanctifire or puppet could be banned and result in the same thing, there are other floodgate monsters but none of them can be dumped with gran and lingers for the turn. The other monsters that can be summoned are a lot easier to out (send them with droplet, eclipse, book of moon, tribute over, e-con, send to gy) while also still having weakness to any graveyard manipulation (bystial, called by, crow, foolish returns). This would make branded not rely on that combo as it would be too weak to board breakers/interruptions.
IMO skill drain shouldn’t Be limited. It’s a double edge sword in today meta game, it just reduces and slows the game state to simple mathematics, yeah my monsters are Bigger than yours, cry about it,😂
As a Snake-Eye player, it’s funny how nobody wants the field spell banned. It’s EASILY the one card that invalidates EVERY handtrap ever printed except shifter/imperm/veiler. Think about it, they search it first even over OSS cause they KNOW they can play through nibiru, dark ruler, Droll, and in the OCG - Maxx C. It’s a searchable magical mid breaker field. Remove that, snake eyes cannot repair their boards and even if they make crazy lines with OSS, they now play into Nibiru.
2 things. 1. Bonfire is a RoTA for Pyro. RoTA is limited so limit Bonfire or release RoTA. 2. Princess is the unhealthiest card in the format. Its an Ash protection with Hieta, an end board piece, an extender and OtK enabler for 3 ED slots (Raging, Phoenix and Zealantis). This is just stupid. Ban Princess, limit Poplar, limit Bonfire and SE is a deck that more often than not dies to a single interruption. FK would also lose a decent chunk of its power but with Ulcanix it is still very much playable. Also Salad would still be viable as they have Code of Soul and Raging Phoenix, Pyro Phoenix combo (also Will of the Salads). The reasoning behind Polar limit is that the deck now has just a 12.5% chance to brick hard and Princess ban makes Ash a good card against this deck.
I only very recently (around april 2023) got into yu-gi-oh at all since I always wanted to try it but only ever watched the anime from time to time. Started with Duellinks because it was easy to get into and recently (around may 2024) I started master duel. In both games I always go with what I think LOOKS cool from the card art. In Duellinks I ended up playing rokkets as a synchro deck, Phantom knights and Fluffals and in Master Duel i discovered snake eyes and virtualworld and thought (and still think) that the designs go incredibly hard especially Flamberge and Shenshen and I just feel so bad spending a lot of time on a combo only to end up on good cards like appolousa or the big ass water dragon (forgot what he's called) when they don't fit into the deck at all so I started just playing around fire themed extra deck monsters and even dropping a few hand traps that don't fit (like Maxx C). As a new player I just think it's so incredibly unfun to combo into big negate/wipe cards with little to no difference each game and much more fun to play just cool monsters I know this is probably just me not taking the game seriously since I don't really care about climbing the ranks ( I reached platinum in duellinks once and am gold 3 in masterduel) but I just think that limiting yourself from staple cards that everyone plays is just so much fun and feels more of the old way playing the game (at least like I always saw it in the anime). I'm about to bring a TCG fluffal deck without any staple cards (aside from an effect veiler I got from my Mom a few years back) and probably just gonna have a little fun spamming the silly whale. I'm sorry for yapping I just wanted to share this since I've been watching a lot of these videos about the recent formats and wanted to share a newer more casual players perpective Have fun everyone :)
The albion and shifter takes are garbage. Shifter turn 0 basically sets up a bunch of decks to get OTK'd turn 2 because they literally couldn't play turn 1. Shifter is literally maxx-c on crack but worse. Albion isn't the problem. Nobody is going to complain if you ban the puppet, the cat, and Ra's disciple. Going after a branded staple will never happen when they have support coming and an ongoing lore storyline.
I understand how many issues Sanctifire causes but as someone who uses it ethically, I will miss it if it goes. I wish the card could only target cards with "Fallen of Albaz" in the text or something. 😢
I think the degenerate lock cards should only work on their owner's field to prevent abuse. While I don't play Branded, I know there is a silly otk line in Drytron that involves giving your opponent a Drytron and attacking with Blue-Eyes Chaos Max. Giving monster enables sick plays.
Apollousa will not get banned. Not yet. Without apo, Yubel is not strong enough to compete, and Konami knows that. Yubel Support is now out, so they will not ban Apo. At least not on the next banlist. Sure, Apo is at high risk for getting banned, but not yet. The next banlist will be snake eyes hits and some floodgates to 1. Skill Drain for sure. I am going to buy some Apollousa´s today, the card will skyrocket after the banlist.
No matter what, we're gonna get FS in the TCG, and it's gonna be an engine in a lot of decks. Those cards will make up for any cards lost and make decks go zoom. Personally I think we should limit ash, wanted, bonfire and OSS. These hit consistency and make the deck still play, they won't be as strong of a deck. Ban Albion, crimson dragon and fenrir
I think poplar should go to 1 so he becomes a sub optimal starter when you draw him, because you cant just search your second copy. Also I think IP should go, because Im sick of seeing her in any deck ever, and in terms of snake eye its just another way to get flamberg into the gy during the opponents turn. Besides these two hits Id also make Wanted limited and maybe flamberg limited. That would propably make snake eyes a whole lot more fair without killing it and its strategy completely
Another banlist discussion where Josh completely ignores electrumite for no reason, the card is legal in ocg and master duel and pendulum does NOTHING, its very shitty that an entire mechanic is so unplayably bad in the tcg and wouldn't even be that much better with electrumite legal, atleast let us have fun with pendulum and let us have electrumite.
The reason that the format sucks right now has even extended to the deckbuilding level. Competitive decks frankly have a pretty clear cut engine + nonengine along with very similar sideboards. To be frank, its not interesting or complex enough to even engage in unless you're gentlemen agreeing out of playing Fire.
Unpopular opinion 👉 : They should put SuperheavySamuraiScarecrow to 1 the deck is no longer top tier(in ocg it did not top) and they hit Baronne and Savage dragon which make the deck way weaker. #FreeSuperheavySamuraiScarecrow
The issue you causing with this is, that some cards will increase in price too much.. and that ruins the game more than banning limiting or banning skill drain and cards like that. More tier 2 to 1 cheap decks are needed that could compete with the top. There's no game love if we all just copy paste the same deck....
Ban Flamberge and keep the SE-SS as a great splashable engine that help other strategies be playable until they (if they) get support to close the gaps. (E.g - T.G, Infernoble etc)
the only thing holding back this format plus the next up-coming one is snake eyes and turn lock ftks (puppet) yubel is in my eyes the perfect example of a tier 1 deck it has alot feels overwhelming but in reality its not at all hell the yubel mirrors are gonna be insane to watch due to the amount of interraction.

It's not really a deck specific hit, but i feel like zealantis needs to go too. The more decks i see using that card, the nore i just flat out hate it 😅 It's almost never doing anything "fair" or "engaging" in a fun way. It's just degenerate stuff lol.
I'd also go to bat for banning masquerena as well, since again, she doesn't do anything anymore that's like, fun or interesting. It's always degenerate stuff that she's being used for. It would also be another way to check snake-eyes if they don't decide to destroy the deck on the same list.

Why do people keep beating around the bush with unnecessary hits like banning OSS or hitting Ash. I'm guarantee those are useless, and even dumb. OSS or Diabellestar package is not a problem whatsoever in other Fire decks like R-Ace, pure FK, or Salad, etc. Same goes for Princess, Wanted, or Bonfire, those generic Fire supports are NOT a problem, the problem is just SE Just ban Flamberge and SE is over, that's it, format solved, no need to overbloat the banlist with useless hits. Ban oss would bring down a lot the power of decks like fire king, rescue ace, TG, any type of deck with a lvl 1 starter wants this card, also, having to choose a snake eye card to hit, I would ban poplar and limit wanted and ash, flamberge is only good if it’s on the field, having on hand it’s a big brick, so now, snake eye decks have to find a way to bring ash to the field without touching the normal summon, as now the card can’t start combos without poplar (probably people will start running birch but it doesn’t have the search capability of poplar)
As someone completely new to the game they need to ban all floodgates, every omni negate ever printed, every card that starts a 1 card combo and anything that doesnt let you interact or do anything if you lose the dice roll. Having to sit through movies going 2nd in master duel and wondering if my hand will do anything is honestly the dumbest thing about this card game. It doesnt respect your time at all if you go 2nd and your opponent just draws the nuts after spending 10 minutes jerking themselves off on the board. Beyond pricing players out of the game, not allowing them to actually have a chance at playing card beyond shuffling and dealing out 5 cards is should embarrass konami as a company. Pokemon you get to reasonably play the game, magic in any format that is modern or standard lets you deal and actually play the game. It's wild how YGO players get so defensive when people bring up time wizard formats and scoff at the idea, shit like edison and goat are more of a card game then w/e the hell this garbage is. It's why i decided to build paleo on MD so i could have a chance at playing the game and make people go beyond 2-3 turns of nonsense. Feels like the game doesnt respect your time if you dont have the world champ diff or anything like that to win the dice roll (Even though i know josh has as poor as luck as i do with dice rolls). The only defenders of this game are ones that are already in too deep to get out. Plus the rules are so convoluted that not even the judges know wtf is going on for YCS's or regionals from what ive watched.
