I have had cats for 45 yrs and I think Roger should have your home alone and seems very content that way. If you bring another cat/kitten in the mix you could force Roger to pee in places to mark his territory!!

Just added a second cat to keep the first cat company. The oldest is 3 years old the new one is 11 months. Best decision made. They both play together and seem to enjoy eachothers company. The Humane Society in my state recommends two cats not one for adoption.

Great video as always guys!!!!! Idea for you…. Why not turn the bottom of the stairs so that they come down into the centre of the house, instead of right in front of your lounge area? Yes it would mean your halfway landing becomes bigger, but turning the bottom steps technically gives you more space in the lounge area…. You could then place a tv in the old stairs space or even better swap the sofa over to the stairs side of the room, your then looking outside and you have the wall for a tv and cupboard underneath……

Hey mate. On the back side of your house next to your water tank you should dig out a section and make a workshop where you can do the wood work out of the rain. Dig it out and strengthen your pillars, then wall the sides, then add lights. No matter how the weather is, you can always prep your work and have it ready for the next day. Be safe mates.

Glad Freddie is back safe and sound.....the last video felt empty without her. Two cats are great for endless entertainment.......BUT.... as they will run like crazy around the house things could come crashing down and many sleepless nights could ensue, because cats will play at night and sleep during the day, unless you decide to crate them at night. Roger already plays with the dogs, so he already has animal companions to play with during the day. Have fun deciding. BTW.....You could enclose the laundry room first with a wall & door and use that during the rainy seasons to cut and prep wood for inside projects, since it has a window for ventilation. This way all the dust just stays in one area. Then after the all the walls are done in the house you can complete the room for the its intended purpose. Just a thought.

The only animal that NEEDS A companion on your property is Moo-Moo. Cattle are herd animals and need the support of a companion to feel safe. She will stop trying to break out every day to find a friend or just something to do if she was not alone. I have had cats, dogs, rabbits, Gerbils, Rats, snakes, Hedgehog, birds, parrots, fish, horses, cows and more. Cats who never go outside will usually accept a new kitten with time and not much bad behavior especially if they are both neutered and of different sex. Cats that go outside during the day usually do not spend their time together. I had two brothers from the same litter who did everything together but they mostly ignored the other cat until they came in to eat. Adding a new kitten means that you are prepared and ready to take care of the animal for the next 20 years. During that time they will require food, medical care, yearly shots and Veterinarian care etc for the rest of its life. Older cats are prone to kidney problems and often require special diets for these medical needs. They can not be vegetarian and must have meat and higher protein than the dogs. They should never eat the same foods as you or the dogs do. When it can no longer catch the mice and other things to supplement its diet, you must be able to provide it for them, according to what the Veterinarian says it needs. Adopting a kitten that will run around playing all night might sound fun and easy, but it doesn't last long. Every vacation you have, they will need someone else to care for them. If you're sick, you still have to care for them. When they are sick, it's your responsibility to get them medical care. Be very sure you can afford another pet and are prepared to make a 20 year commitment to another animal.

I've had cats all my life - never just one - up to 7 at once - some of them have their moments but for the most part they all play together or sleep near each other. When I have brought in a new cat - it can take a week or two for them to get to know each other - but it has always worked out for me! I may be in the minority but I say YES!

I think it’s honestly mostly whatever you prefer. We have a 17 year old female cat, and we’ve had her with other cats, who are now gone, and she was happy when we had them, but she seems just as happy, and cuddlier with us, without other cats. Speaking as a mom of 3 adult “children”, I’m sure Freddie’s mom is thrilled to see her daughter so happy, with such a wonderful love 🧡

As an older cat Roger will be a loner. Cats very rarely spend time with other cats unless they are raised together. We introduced a younger cat once and it made the older cat move out!

Roger does not need a partner. He appreciates his alone time, and could be jealous of a kitten getting attention. He would rather have 100% of your attention.

P.S. My adult cat accepted a kitten with no problems. They are the best of friend now.

Another Cat would be great! We had our cat "Meow Meow" for a year before we barely got our 2nd cat a month ago and they love to play a lot. It would be good company for roger. 😸😺

I paused the video to actually type that when it's pouring rain forget the boots and run around barefooted in the rain, or get tumblers with lids so you can take your drinks to the gazebo and dream. At that very point you're both saying there's only ONE THING to do - run around in the rain. 😂❤😂 If and when you decide to have children, and they see this, it'll be a fun moment to see their parents enjoying life and being happy.

Cats are very territorial, unless they grew up together from young it is really difficult to introduce a new cat to a place with an older cat. I received three, very young cats (one was a kitten) that were abandoned several years ago. One male, two females. For many years they co existed very well. However, as they aged, the male was more dominate, and the girls mre reclusive. Towards the end of their life, the oldest female became quite hostile towards the male, to the point I had to put her outside. The youngest female hid from him all the time. The female and the male have passed within the past year. My little Bella has blossomed into a most outgoing and affectionate cat. Her true personality has been hiding all this time. So, beware bringing another cat into the fold. Not only could Roger start peeing on your stuff, but they could both do it, or have terrible fights. Toss of the dice!

Depends on the cat. Some are very buddy types and others not so much. I have one female that loves all the boys. They preen her often. But I have another that could care less. I am a cat person and have a family outside, so it would dissuade others as there is a limit. As a family they all eat together but have their squabbles. I'd suggest a kitten that is not the same sex. So, depends on the kitty.

Question: 1. When will we get to meet both your families? It would be wonderful to meet them at your place but also to see where you both came from. 😊 2. Can you ever see yourselves working anywhere but Lola’s farm? If so, what would you like to do?

If you want a kitten the go for it. You shouldn't let others tell you what to do. Cats sort themselves out and Kittens are resilient to new environments. Older cats learn to deal with Kittens and actually fall in love with them eventually. If you accept them into your family the old cat realizes it's a fight they can't win and just accept the joy. Let the Cat Distribution System do it's thing. On another note you are dealing with a German and I am Prussian. We started WWI and WWII. We always want to get what is good for us and not anyone else.

I have had cats for many years. When they get older ( in my experience ) they don’t typically like to have a kitten around. This is his territory. However,if there is an animal shelter near it might be possible to find him another older cat to bring home for a test run. If it does not work out, then I would let Roger live his life with the two of you. Don't listen to the negative Nancys! I have been working with cats all my life. You will never truly know how two cats will get along. But there are definitely things you can do to best facilitate their introduction to hopefully get the best outcome. 1) When bringing a new cat in, make sure they have their own space that they can hide in. Allow the new cat to adjust to that space. They will naturally become curious once they feel safe. 2) Make sure there is a barrier in between the cats so they can't get to each other. Then, feed the cats at the barrier to enforce a positive association of the other cats' smell. 3) Slowly let the cats meet. Make sure to have guided interactions between the two. Once you can see them playing with each other or cuddling/grooming each other, you know they have accepted each other. 4) Often, when introducing animals, it can be easier to introduce the opposite sex. Since Roger is male, consider a female kitten. Kittens are also easier to introduce to adult cats. Often, with the same sex, the cats can become territorial and possessive. HOWEVER, again, you will never know until you introduce the cats. Good luck with a new cat in your life, and I hope my tips will help you.

Being paranoid of snakes, my question is...do you think it would be good to organize all of the stuff , cut boards and pieces under your house so that snakes don't have such an easy place to hide? The house is looking GREAT!! I have a couple of questions for you, 1) is there enough head room under the house so you could work under there and be sheltered? 2) when are you going to finish the outside of the house, like soffit's and sealing up all the openings to the outside?

I had 1 cat who was an angel, so I got him a brother to play with. The younger one got into EVERYTHING food related. Had to install child locks even on the trash can. Pees on anything if his litter box isn't prestine or just for fun on my boyfriends shorts when he has access. Now i have 4 cats and the problematic one bullys and attacks, litterally ripping fur off of the girl cat that lives here (no theyre not all mine, i just have roomates now). I feel like ripping my own hair out at this point multipletimes a day. Micromanaging clawed and undiapered todlers. I worked at a doggy daycare up to 50 dogs at a time and it was easier to deal with.

Tool storage in the house with a second purpose. Build a bench - tool box - shoe hanging station. You can sit on the lid to take your shoes off. Keep the tools hidden away when stopping at the end of a work day. Plus you need a place to for quick access for an everyday household tool kit that has screw drivers, pliers, utility knife, glue, masking tape, tape measure, etc.

I will say, kittens are soooo hard to resist, but cats tend to destroy things in the house. But, Roger and a new cat get to go outside often so maybe a new kitten wouldn’t destroy inside. my thought is, how badly do you want it? If the reason is so Roger can have a buddy, then i think NO. he doesn't need any buddies. His life seems very full right now. If its for you guys, then, how bad do you want it? Also, you never know, one may stray into your property at some point, very organically, and maybe you should wait for that. When they first got Rodger I was screaming at the TV for them to get a second kitty. Haha Rodger, at this point, may be an alpha Kitty which means bringing a new cat may not be a good idea. You won't want to bring in a new kitty just to turn around and have to re-home it. It's a difficult thing to decide on because Rogers is older now. I used to be an adoption counselor at a pet store. It's a little tricky introducing a new cat. You want to keep the new one in a room separate from the regular cat. And let them get acclimated but in your case you really don't have the room and you may be taking a chance on triggering Rodger into peeing again.

I have found animals to be very friendly and tolerant of others in the same spaces; it's part of learning to function in a society. My maximum house pets was 5 adult cats and 4 kittens, 2 dogs, 5 zebra finches and 2 aquariums of goldfishes. Outside 4 sheep 1 goat ,7 chickens and 3 roosters sharing a shed. I did have to rehome 2 of the roosters cause they were attacking each other, and I didn't want any of my laying hens to end up casualities...but I think it was the breed, as I never had trouble with other breed roosters getting along in such a small flock. Look at how well all your puppies learned to get along!

In my experience with cats, females resist a new cat/kitten real bad.. an older male cat with a new male kitten has worked out super well.. my two cents ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I'm glad that Freddie is back! My daughter has four cats, the oldest is 15, the youngest is 3. You just need to introduce the new cat (a kitten would be better) to Roger carefully. How fun watching you two play in the rain! What a nice meal you made for Freddie's mom. Is there a reason that you are not using sheetrock instead of wood for your walls? It just seems like it would be easier to work with and care for and you can paint it.
