I don't think he was over anything. I've read the history of the production in the past and it was noted that Michael was actually nervous to record in front of so many other artists, in part due to how shy he could be.
LETMEINGUYS: Yes, you are so right. I have always felt the same way since I first heard it to this very moment. It touches my most emotional chords awakening the best in me and giving me much hope that we should strive to LOVE humanity.
Adorei ver esse ensaio! maravilhoso! Sempre achei maravilhosa a finalização da Cindy Lauper (uma das minhas cantoras favorista) e ver como ela chegou nisso... foi tudo de bom!
I need to repeat what I just wrote to someone else: He wrote the song (With Lionel). He had trained for this night for months. The others came directly from a big award show without knowing the song beforehand, and worked their butts off the whole night :D Sure, MJ is great. But here he had an obvious advantage over everybody else. No need to give him special credit just because he knew his parts...
Stevie wonder and Michael were always on point because they took voice lessons since they were kids. Steve Perry is amazing because he’s almost just pure raw talent, he’s on point. James Ingram as well, he was trained. Dianna Ross was nailing her notes as well.
@@TheStepmonkey definitely was, he was gifted. Theirs a reason he was called the Voice. Too bad he didn’t train with the same teacher that Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson trained under. Seth Riggs was teaching them. Steve Perry would’ve saved his voice and still sound as good as he use to .
@@liz6445 no he’s not anymore. His voice sounds tired and unhealthy. He lowers the key to every song, sounds like an old man who smoked 20 packs a day. Nothing compared to what he used to be

Cyndi Lauper is so cute 🥰!! When they mention her jewelry. Her soft little “oh, I’m loaded” as she takes off her 50 necklaces including the one draped around her shoulder.
I never really thought about how difficult it must've been to harmonize everyone's voices for such a large group of very talented but different singers. Very interesting blending of different styles and timbres.
You are so right Joe! But I really don't believe I'd have included Steve Perry at that time,he was up on his game and no one but Michael J. could've held a candle to that bro at that moment in time!! It blew me to find Steve was even asked!!
Many people talk about MJ pure talent but it’s not just that, this guy worked so hard since he was a little fellow so it’s not only talent but years and years of hard work
Yeah. You have to remember that every single person in that room are along the most gifted singers on the planet. But this song didn’t fit everyone’s style; so it required a few takes to fit in. But man when everyone got their parts right; this was probably the greatest collaboration ever. Unlike the Hell firestorm that came 25 years later with We are the world part 2.
Dude, why does everyone keep thinking Michael is so judgmental about everyone's singing and being over it? He seems shy, respectful and just focused on trying to be helpful because they only had one night to record. It's nerve-wracking when you're a singer and you have to sing in front of all of these personalities in the recording studio. Also I don't think he was the type of person who would be like hah everyone else sucks but me. Sigh. This scene is just taken way out of context by too many people.
I believe that we will never see that much talent together in the same place ever again....this song was pure magic and I still get chills listening to it.
@@elizabethomoruyi9769 yes but nowhere even close to the original. New version used auto tune and bullshit reverb in microphones. They could definitely not hang with the talent from the original singers who were mostly superstars.
70s/80s babies know this was like seeing the Avengers assembling for the first time. Gives me goosebumps just watching this. "Earth's Mightiest Voices"🎶🌍
It took Cyndi a lot of takes before she finally decided to come in with "Well well well....." She did it so differently a number of times before she nailed it.
I love it when MJ is just standing quietly in the back watching everyone else's drama like "why did I agree to let them sing with me again?" attitude. 😆
NOÓOO YO LITERALMENTE NOOO LO VEO ASI TODOS LOS LOS CHICOS Q ESTAN ALLI ESTA X Q MICHAEL JACKSON SE LOS PIDIO EL SABE Q NO SON IMPROVISADOS SON PROFESIONALES Y COMO TAL SE DEBEN UBICAR ❤
First of all, the reason this song is iconic is because every singer brought their own unique style to the song and they nailed it. Say what you want, but this song is pure magic I get chills every time I listen to it 🪄❤️🎵
I love this rehearsal, they are great, professional and very funny, Logically they would end up tired but in the end they got a magnificent performance. I love this song.
My favorite voices: Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Cyndi Lauper, Steve Perry, Dione Warwick, Billy Joel, Kenny Loggins. . . Wait, that’s half of them! Their all great.

Cyndi saying "the bridge people!?" lol. I love this. No one has that innocence and energy anymore. She was a force. This really was the best generation of vocalists. Seeing them all together is amazing.
Cyndi working that 4 octave range. The end is the most impressive with all of them hitting their mark at 7:40. That must have been hard to coordinate. How many takes did it require?
Back then, when music was music, songs were somgs, and singers were singers, for real.😢 Thank you Lionel and MJ(rip) for those wonderful lyrics, a great composition with a heartfelt intent. Thanks to you Quincy, for all that you put in to make this massive gem of a song happen. Thank you all the techies, the behind thee scenes people, the 45 star artists, living and dead(rip) for lending your precious skills and unique signatures to paint this into an incredible masterpiece of all times. And thanks again to all of you for engaging in it all so sincerely with your huge charitable hearts, selflessly. My deep respect and love forever to all of you.
Most people who are fans of music, but completely unfamiliar with the recording studio process, never realize the work that may go into getting that perfect take. Yes, there are a few who can nail it with one or two tries, but most songs you hear on the radio have been massaged until that right one finally drops from the ether. Even they will tell you that it's some unexplained magic.
Wow!!! Can you imagine getting feedback from Lionel Richie and Steve Perry on your singing with Kenny Loggins and Daryl Hall there? Talk about a once in a lifetime event. That must have been amazing to be in that room with all that talent.
I LOVE this!!!! Behind the scenes with all my heroes. Seeing their personalities and what it takes to create a masterpiece. Michael’s thinking, “Amateurs .”
Idk that’s what rubbed me wrong, ik it was his part and idk artists yk sensitivity, but him just ignoring them but giving eyes says alot with nothing helpful
I love how Cyndi ask if she did too much after she did her final take...she just doesn't want to overpower the two vocalist beside her cause her voice is so powerful that she need to step away from the mic just to did that high note
If anyone understands how they pair singers by their voices you will see alto and soprano have to balance. Thats why its broken up. You can't have alto and soprano at the same time. It has to be worked out. And when you have all different talent for a song like this it has to be rehearsed quite a bit.
You know, I love Huey's music but the man can't exactly carry a tune. But he's definitely good at what he does with his group. I find it amusing even Steve Perry can't get him locked in.
This makes you realize what a phenomenal era in music that was. What an absolutely amazing group of singers and to organize them in such a way where they complimented each other was incredible
@@LoveablePleb The reason MJ sounded well is because he's the one that wrote the song with Lionel Richie. This video is what you call a rehearsal, where they fix "out of tune" parts. And also, don't say that only Michael sang well in that song because everyone sounded well with their own styles.
Saudades...
The song is by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie... This part of the song is the only one that explodes and demands from Cindy and Jerry the tone up there and synchronized... And it's one of the best parts of the song.🎉🎉🎉
What I learned here is that it takes time and time for all this professional to deliver this job... new artist like us should learn how to work slow and steady to get it done.... not overnight
I think in the final version of the music video the Cyndi Lauper portion part is probably the most powerful part of the whole song. She gets all fired up and lets it loose starts like jumping up and down it’s awesome.
